Putin promised to protect Russia and make it bigger... But that is no longer happening in Ukraine.
For years Belarus tried to juggle: to take advantage of the Russian bear without falling completely into its clutches. Now that no longer seems possible. Putin knows this and seems more than willing to take advantage of this situation. One way would be to force an annexation to Russia under the framework of the Union State or some other political invention, such as the recreation of the satellite states of the former Soviet Union.
To what extent is Belarus at risk of being annexed by Russia? What is behind Moscow's alleged intentions? Why does Lukashenko seem to be doing nothing about it? Well, in this video we will answer these and other questions.

It already has Belarus but by not officially taking it they avoid alot of problems.
If Lukashenko dies, Moscow will most definitely take the Belarusian territory “in an effort to preserve the region’s peace”
That's what I think what happens after him.
You don't get how satrapy, "spheres of influence," and lopsided partnerships work. They won't annex Belarus nor do they wish to. They want to control all off the important decisions of Belarus and let them control the trivial issues.
If Belarus is absorbed into Russia, will that not increase Russia's border with NATO?

It would also ensure they get to keep Crimea and get more warm water ports wich they have always been desperate for, its easy for Nato to set up militairy blockades as Turkey is doing right now, but they are playing the long game and in a couple of decades restrictions will get lifted and restore alot of their freedom of movement.

sadly every western power has made one, when we watch the news about Russia- its about Putin...not the six factions within the Kremlin that keep Putin in power, for example the Silovik, which barely any mainstream news media mentions- is literally the main faction that can play king maker when it comes to deciding presidents, not to mention US companies paying 1 billion USD to Russian Nuclear Agency annually...and apparently the solution to this by some is to go to war with Putin, right.
Well… isn’t it typical condition? Like the entire Marshall plan was about it: America help Western Europe to rebuild itself from ruins of WWII and Europe let American to deploy military bases on European territory (and join the military alliance led be USA).
@@bachelor3846US is a critical military partner but NATO is not "led by USA", that's exactly why Turkey's Erdogan gets to decide if Sweden enters NATO or not, against US interests
@@aliancemd because now is not the time when another world war was anticipated (current Ukraine conflict is not so serious) and it’s been quite a lot pf time since the deal between USA and Western Europe “economic help in exchange of territories for military bases” was made. In other words I speak about post WWII times exactly when Marshall plan was in action. Then US leadership wasn’t questioned, and there were no such NATO members as modern day Turkey. Armies of other members, especially German military, were under control of Washington (maybe with the exception of France, but it also received less aid from America). Of cause, nowadays situation is different since America isn’t rebuilding Europe any more, so other NATO members received more space for their own decisions.

Thanks for such an informative presentation. The history of Belarus, its culture, customs and language have been well off the radar of very many people in the West and beyond. Under the dictatorship of Lukashenko elected and re elected through rigged elections the plan for Russification has been intent on obliterating the countrys ' language, traditions and character. I visited the country in 2017, 2018 and 2019, citizens have feared for their lives for years, and since 2020 the repression has gone off the scale. For my friends in Belarus and for all the citizens of this fascinating country I pray that they can survive what is coming soon. Long Live Belarus.

I think Russia would want Belarus to be there as a story of buffer state. It knows now it can't fight the west, so a state that they can use to take the first blow without commiting themselves into a suicide fight is useful.
He probably also knows that the citizens of NATO countries don't give a shit about Russia, so if it stopped harassing its neighbours we would just forget it exists.
So why would he need a buffer state between Russia and people who have no desire to invade it?
Thanks for braving the heat to educate us!
I couldn't help but notice that during the "photo op's" where Putin and Lukashenko were sharing a meal, not one of them took a bite or a drink. It must be great to have trusted friends around you!
I actually thought, that Wagner went to Belarus for a special military operation. After the coup and Putin got a talk with Prigozhin 😂
I'll revisit this video in 5 years from now and see how it goes.
I will bet that China will become Belarus's next ally in the coming years to counter russian influence. Hypothetical but this can happen.
I bet there will be no serious changes. West will keep their head in the sand(did anyone ever consider it doing something outside saying concerns?). Russia will still try to take Belarus silent way (by trying to buy more and more areas of belarussian economy). people will keep suffering political arrests and tortures but everybody around Belarus will be ok with it and will pretend that there's nothing happening.
Something like that is what you gonna observe in 5 years.
I dont think they'll do a full annexation, just because of how unpopular that would be, but, I think there could a point where Lukashenko is forced into a situation where Russia and Belarus become one country with two nations, similar to the UK... with the capital in Moscow of course 😉
Lukashenko: No one takes us, we have nukes!
Putin: Say uncle, I have the remote detonator.
Not sure how Belarus becoming a part of Russia would be any change from current situation. Really does not matter.
Well there are a few reasons.
The first is the political aspect, Russia taking over Belarus helps to support Putin and his rule inside of Russia. Outside on the international stage it would be a sign of escalation and put the West in a position where they are forced to respond.
Think back to Germany during WW2, first it was the remiltization of the Rhineland. The west didn’t do much, then it was eating Austria the west did nothing. You get the point but once Poland was invaded the war really kicked off.
In the case of Russia they have already done the first parts with eating Crimea among other things but Belarus being eaten puts nato members at risk due to its strategic location as well as what it would signal.
On that not the strategic location is a major concern since there is a very small corridor that connects the West with the very small countries of Lithuania that should it be closed off would stop the west from being able to easily provide resources should Russia make them the next target.
