I've used Fire MC since day 1 in my main party. I recently got Clara with the free picker after 300 standard pulls. Clara can put out a hell of a lot more damage but Fire MC just doesn't die. Powercreep or not, the fact that MC can add/refresh shields on every party member, every turn, with any action, and let's not forget taunt, still puts him near the top of my list of favorite characters to use.
What are your stats like?
That is why I love fire mc. They might not be a meta character but they help so much in clearing content we should die on
I used my free pick on Clara too! If you have her signature light cone, she is really tanky even without def investment thanks to the small heal on her LC and her permanent damage reduction passive. For really hard content, I use fire MC and try to get the one destruction buff where everyone shares damage, which goes perfect with the small teamwide shields
Fire MC has gotten a massive boost for me due to the Burn LC and how well it pairs with Kafka or BS. Her ult with the BP LC is very strong in pure fiction. Not needing a 100% sustain/healer helps a lot in Pure fiction too, cuz they can wipe out the smaller adds easily while providing shield just enough to keep you alive from the smaller attacks.
Clara on the other hand, i rock her with pure dps build. I dont have Argenti. She is a monster against enemies you wouldnt expect and also pairs really well with both Topaz or Xueyi. Every counter she does vs a phys weak enemy gives Xueyi 1 stack, which cheats the system in a way and no other character can do that for her. Absolutely broken characters that are highly undervalued if you look at what they can actually do and not just look at 100% tank

Having played from the start of HSR, it was interesting to see how new 5* made old characters obsolete. I remember benching Fire MC, Natasha, and March 7th when Luocha was released, because he could sustain one team on his own, while Bailu + Gepard sustained team 2. Then as soon as Fu Xuan was released, Bailu + Gepard got benched.
Funnily enough, I dusted off Gepard yesterday toteam up with Fu Xuan on the higher levels of Gold and Gears. I don't think it's possible to complete that without running double sustain, so it was fun to use him again.
Works well enough until you start going into conundrums. For me personally I found it best to just drop any sustain units and run either another harmony or debuffer. Especially if you're doing anything higher than c8. I'll usually run bailu at the start just for the revive and swap her out during boss fights.
Makes you think of in the future there will be a character that will bench your Fu Xuan and Gepard by sustaining by himself
i think its good to mention in the sustain category was that the reason why the free sustains got such a huge dip in usage was because of lynx being in fu xuans banner, there was practically no reason why anyone would use natasha or the more readily available sustains anymore since even if they got unlucky or needed another sustain on second team, they could just use lynx. Im expecting another dip in usage now that she is in pure fiction.
Exactly! Talk about powercreep in sustain characters without talk about Lynx was a mistake, Lynx is the main reeason why 4 star sustain really died, she finish what Luocha starts.
@@ak-sony honestly it's more if you look at lynx, she do everything that natasha do and more. natasha have litterally nothing better than Lynx. Natasha need a rework for give her something that will make her stand out.... right now she is too weak.

As someone who was very excited for Lynx I must say that I did that.
That said ironically enough I use Natasha more, as the investment that she requires to sustain a team is just isn't worth it, when Natasha can just do the job with just temporary Relics and being under leveled.

You should also address the weakness seasons. Like Jingliu and Pela or Ruan Mei being ised more is because of the weakness of Ice being g there recently
Was going to mention this as well. Seele not getting used as much since there haven't been much Quantum challenges in MOC or Pure Fiction, at least to my memory.

Since the first day I had Luocha, he is never unused in MoC & SU. Being the only healer in the game that provides a 'Lifesteal' style of healing, I believe he will stay very relevant in the game for a looong time. His kit (to me at least) provides more control and predictability to healing my party members due to him not requiring his ult or turn to provide the healing.
Do you prefer him over huo huo? My only sustain rn is fu xuan and lynx and im either saving up for luocha or huo huo

@@ravebae My Blade uses S5 Secret Vow so he needs to stay at a low health to do optimal damage which means Luocha's auto heal is not ideal for me so I'm saving up for a Huohuo rerun which is also BiS for Dot teams.

Honkai Impact 3rd players laughing at this "powercreep"
Don't they release the same character with a new skin, new kit, same weapon all the time. The characters powercreep themselves.
bronya was used less in beginning due to lack of accessibility. doesn't pertain just to me, but I recently had the 300 pull a couple months ago which I used to get her.
So far, starting with Ruan mei, all of the new characters have had good synergy with pre-existing characters. Ruan Mei increases the value of any break oriented characters like Luka and Himeko, Dr. Ratio does the same for debuffers like Silverwolf, Guinaifen and especially Topaz, Black Swan and Kafka is insane, and Sparkle will do the same for Seele, QQ and DHIL. With the recent difficulty spike making the investment required to brute force off element incredibly high, this pattern of new+old having synergy as well as the ability to directly affect meta through enemy weakness seems to be decently effective at combating power creep.

Great breakdown of the thought process in who to pull for. Safer to invest in supports/sustains then pull for the new DPS if needed since they’ll be geared toward the Meta. Now looking toward the future, I think I’ll go for Acharacter versus Sparkler

LOVE seeing all this data with such a competent interpreter to guide me, amazing work! I found the trends in the sustain characters to be especially interesting. Everyone made due until they got their two primary sustains and then those characters never left their teams. I personally am a Luocha+Huohuo gamer for my two sustains, and I love them both!! i ended up getting huohuo because Fu Xuan dodged me on her first banner

i still use her 😭 (got literally nothing else other than my e1 fu xuan, gonna get aventurine)
I had a random kafka without LC that I got back in the day and was benched for a while. Then with release of Swan, I went for her E0S1 because I'm f2p and MAN... they do crazy amount of damage! but yes, pulling for supports is often times MORE important. In Houkai 3rd we've been clearing meta gameplay with 3 Support teams for years, and I'm sure Stareil will get to that point eventually.
Kafka and BS are just insanely good. In my calcs for E0S1 Kafka, E1+S5 EOTP BS and E1+S5 MOTP Mei they do damage comparable only to E2S1 Daniel with E1S1 Sparkle and same mei. That's 1 less limited LC and 2 less limited characters, which is just so dope. In FtP calcs they just obliterate any other comp...
Hypercarry teams at this point need 5* version of TingYun to get close to DoT.

@@Josh-qt5zi well yeah but Aventurin has built in effect resistance and effect hit rate down meaning his shields won't lot dots to hit through them. So Yanqing has a way to keep his much needed passive active. If his passive is down than he is worse than dps Pela

It will be interesting seeing what happens to sustain. Right now Fu Xuan, Luocha and HuoHuo all offer something different so none completely outshine the others between Fu Xuan pseudo-shield, Luocha not taking skill points plus good damage, and HuoHuo giving energy and constant cleansing. It will be interesting to see what happens once 5* sustains start overlapping in their niche.

Awesome to see Clara use being consistent. As a Clara main her usage in Simulated Universe as a Elation POWER house can't be understated! She's the special sauce that makes an Elation team work! Very much recommend to people who have her in their roster but not sure how to utilise her

These are great pls keep up videos also suggestions on variation of teams to build for story, new limited runs from f2p to pay but also for ppl new and not having chance to get some of older 5* banners
Although I agree with you that Fu Xuan is brokenly OP, I'm not sure she's all that resistant to powercreep.
We need two teams of four characters for MoC and Pure Fiction.
With the current meta, the best teams are: Sustainer/2x buffer/Hypercarry.
Also, when you reach a certain power level, you can drop a sustainer completely and just use: 3xbuffer + Hypercarry.
As we only need two sustainers at maximum, as soon as a new OP Preservation or Abundance character is released, then Huo huo or Luocha is going to end up obsolete. When two come out that are better than Fu Xuan, she's going to get perma-benched.
The category that we need the most of are buffers, but we've only had one limited 5* Harmony character so far (Ruan Mei). Bronya is extremely good for a standard banner 5*, and the only one who hasn't been powercrept yet. But Sparkle will be released soon and she'll most likely be just as OP as Ruan Mei.
For that reason I think that the only character that won't get powercrept for at least the next two years is Ruan Mei. She adds so many buffs, that she's amazing in almost every type of team. We ideally need 4 buffers (or 6!), and we currently only have one Limited Harmony unit.
The thing is, my Fu xuan deletes one wave by her own with her Ult in pure fiction. She is very good at that. For MoC, we're getting more and more into a no sustain meta. (Thank you ruan mei 😠).
@@isaac-p6126 True, pure fiction has certainly added a ton of value to characters with aoe attacks.
But we still only need the next two protection/abundance characters to have better sustainability as well as aoe attacks, then Fu Xuan, as OP as she currently is, gets benched.
I have both Luocha and FX. So, if there is a better sustain character than both of them, i’ll still consider whether to pull for her/him or not. If both of them still can tank the whole content, maybe i’ll skip the newest. Unless he/she has a good synergy with my favourite dps.
The thing with sustain is there is a limitation for which u should pull or not, whereas dpses are tempting bcs of the big pp number and variety of elements. You can fight with ease against wind weakness enemy with RM, but it’s gonna be quite harder with ratio or IL. Also, you dont care about 10k/heal as long as that sustain can save your whole team.
IMO you dont need to always pull for the best sustain characters everytime they released, but latest OP dps has more value. Still with all of these being said, everything is depending on your current characters.
Do we really need better sustainability for pure fiction and moc? I think with huohuo they went an interesting way. Basically trading survivability for buffing potential.
And i think a solo sustain with an aoe Ult with fuxuans damage potential is still far away. Remember, she buffs her own crit rate too.
It's hard to top Fu Xuan. Aventurine looks very strong and seems like he'll be the best in slot sustain for FuA but depending on his shield strength I don't think it'd be as strong as Gepard's since its off his skill and not his Ult.
I just got Bronya with the 300 summon standard selector and my biggest gripe with her is the speed tuning is such a PAIN. Especially if you want to try her with different carries

there are crazy dreams of sparkle and JY which seem solid. Tldr.: Because Sparkle gives so much SkillPoints, Ting kann use E every turn, which is enough for JY to get 2E and 1 Ult every 1ish turn thus maxing out lightning lord and this giving him a really solid increase in DPS.

I've been building my march with clara in mind for the next build because I think their playstyle is pretty fun, but are they somewhat pretty effective on endgame content like moc and gold & gears?
I might pull for FuXuan E1 and S0 when she comes back around since she’s so OP. That team would have great buffs and never need a healer for the lifetime of her being powercreeped
If you get her lc then she would also be an insane healer
I'm fairly sure Seele is gonna spike up again once Sparkle drops because of the 30% more Quantum Dmg passive she has when 3 Quantum characters are in 1 team.

I have to disagree. Clara might be fun and strong, but the way she works is really bad for endgame. You wanna kill enemies with least turns ans possible. Whereas Claras kit wants enemies to attack you to deal dmg to them. Shes just not designed for endgame

Yeah i know Clara isnt that satisfying to play compare to other dps since she cant 0-cycle due to lacking burst/one shot power.But her consistency is amazing her value isnt going to drop any sooner when enemies has their speed ramping up every patch.She's a mix of Euridition and Destruction unit being able to hit ALL unit with skill and tanky as well compare to recent release destruction chara naturally she's excellent in both PF and MoC.
She isn't as good at Endgame but doesn't mean you can't Clear with her.

For me it varies. Pulled Ruan Mei because she’s so so useful even if I personally think her character is awful, zero ethics Dr Frankenstein on heels 😅
But on the other hand I’m still resolutely sticking with Jing Yuan. Continuing to upgrade his relics and teams to make him work even better. He might not be the most powerful but I love his character too much to swap him for any other lightning dps.

Wait until Sparke releases. DanIL will skyrocket and overthrow Jingliu and just will stay there forever. Which is sad, he's meant to be balanced by his SP consumption. Also Kafka rn is probable skyrockenting since she amplifies Black Swan greatly.

It’s definitely going to impact his upcoming rerun banner. I have both and I prefer using ratio since he’s fun. But with sparkle inhibitor might rise a bit

Fire MC is such a weird case, they were in S tier in every tier list for like 3 months, then all the sudden they dropped to B tier, and now most tier lists put them in C or even D tier. So sad. I enjoy using them very much but its hard to find a spot for them on any team that isn't done better by another character.

TY's best comps (Daniel, Jingliu) AND basic hyper carry comps with 2 harmony just prefer Ruan Mei, simply due to her having bigger buffs. And pela got moved since we're getting more and more def shred in eidolons and LCs. I think Ruan Mei E1 is quite a culprit here, as it's a somewhat accessible great eidolon on a cracked character that a lot of people waited for in a patch with essentially dead 2nd banner... Now we have sparkle E2, BS and her LC and I can already sense more stuff like that coming soon.
Just generally, I feel like they are playing on our genshin brain rot, that's why we see so many DMG%, CRIT and DEF stuff. It's just a synonym to "crack" for us since it's what makes Ganyu, Ayaka, Raiden C2 and so on so good.
the only way a character would top fu xuan is they do exactly with fu xuan but not with damage mitigation but instead giving buffy shield to everyone with skill and passive, on demand shield for everyone.
march is single shielder, gepard is burst shield, fire MC shield is very weak.

Well his kit involves random shields like hearts spades etc, probably each having different effects, and yes, the shields activate on the skill
@@someoneinasiahis shields refres on their own so he is like loucha, his shields give effect res to teammates and aventurine is also a sub dps with fua and the enemies he hits have their ehr reduced. He scales fully on def and one of his traces gives him cr based on def. So he looks like loucha level sp usage + fu xuan level sustain + huohuo's versatility (having other functions)
I hate fu xuan's kit so I hope she gets powercrept to dust lmao. Aventurine looks like he will at least be near her level if not just straight up better

“Well there’s been more ice weak enemies recently and there’s no other ice dps besides Jing Liu” yeah that’s true, but there’s also 2 other types of damage the enemy is weak to which means you don’t need to use an ice dps at all so that argument goes out the window for any element type

I really like this content, personally I prefer to hold onto pulls and then go for e3-4 on a strong character that might stay evergreen so it's good to see what might remain relevant even if they are not the strongest (like clara)

If Asta was built to work universally like the other supps , we would probably see a slightly diff graph
I really like how he doesn't blindly praise jingliu despite having such a high appearance rate. People really thought she's the best there is and will stay so for a long time, when in reality it's simply because the environment has been flooded with ice weakness ever since she's released
i spent money for imbibitor lunae and has been f2p before and since. no regrets tbh, i pulled him for lore reasons and the fact that he hits like a truck is a very nice surprise.
the point about elements is very much true though, because i've been using him less in favor of using dr. ratio lately, though my build is still very much bad and i need more debuffers built for him. IL is still the one i go for when i want consistent and reliable damage, but dr. ratio also has points to make people gravitate toward him, like him being given to players for free and being less skill point hungry than IL.

No shine for Lynxy, she did really well in the sustain category, all told, 4th most used, though essentially replaced by Huo Huo for a lot of people, the graph would suggest.
I didnt pull huohuo bc i have an well build E6 lynx. I dobt regret it, even tho i play hypercarry. I could get ruan mei, Dhil AND Hanabi because of that skip. Plus one of my teams is the Jingliu blade thing, which works great with her obviously.
But ngl... her time will come. She wont make it to 2025 in my 2 top teams :(

my friends and I made that line after we had a realization of how easy it is to powercreep big numbers but there will be those support party members who always find a way to remain relevant long after.
currently waiting for Jingliu's rerun to snag her LC while i'm farming for better relics for her and Herta.
To be fair hsr is already seeing so many op and very universal supports so it doesnt apply as much as in games like genshin. When you already have a few really good supports you will probably benefit more from getting really good dps units. Sustainers are also a consideration but when you have 2 good ones they will probably work for a very very long time.

I think Seele is honestly going to age one of the most gracefully, sparkle is going to make her even more busted in mono quantum. Jing Yuan will probably age the worst because of his backloaded damage and weakness to CC -- which Fu Xuan helps but there are often cases with two CC bosses at once in MOC that completely makes him frustrating to play.

Just want to place it here for the people that just start playing or anyone that have any interest for playing HSR.
There is no powercreep in HSR, at least for now.
People like to use powercreep this powercreep that in a pve game that doesn't have any incentive for player to actually pull for the better character. Wow this character will replace this character and be meta character for 0 turn floor 12 MoC, don't care, doesn't matter, except if you are a type of people that live by consuming other people attention instead of air to breath. In other game like PGR and HI3 ( onother pve game ) there is a little incentive because you get more reward per week if you can perform and score higher in their weakly challenges, it's not that bad but yeah you can say there is a powercreep in those game. In a pvp game like Epic7, you can't win any high rank pvp if you don't have the meta unit. But HSR ? for now there's no such thing as that.
If you can 3 star MoC using Hook as a dps and Natasha as a healer, so be it. Pull for whatever you want, reject the meta embrace your waifu. I don't care even tough I already have kafka as lightning dps, I will still pull for acheron just to complete my nihility supremacy, and I bench all imaginary except YuKong even tough DHIL is one of the best dps in game right now, no place for husbando in my team.

Kafka went up drastically in 2.0 because of black swan, this graphic only shows statistics for up to 1.6.3

@@PsnPocketsFulOfHope People were talking about her because of her early drop marketing and a lot of bias due to her attractiveness however when it comes to gameplay statistics kafka was/is highly dependent on other DoT units due to her kit so with that said kafka will skyrocket every time a DoT limited character is released and her low appearance rate after her release is understandable
If I'm honest, i firmly believe that kafka is the #1 character resistant to powercreep. With every new DoT character that comes out, kafka gets better, and there is simply no way around that level of consistency.
Silverwolf is probally the most resistant in HSR, her ability to apply weakness is too good since HSR is coming up with so many character with not only different path but also different mechanic like break, DOT, Follow up, ulti dmg focus, basic attack, skill dmg focus. So silverwolf is so good when you need to abuse one mechanic but you dont have the char in the beneficial path. I had doubt with SW but now im sure ill need her E1 and build her ERR rope.
Acheron will be on the same team as Kafka and Black Swan
Id argue that pela would not be seeing the use she is if it wasn't for "before the tutorial mission starts" LC. That one LC is the only reason she's viable because her kit is the same it's always been but she was never so universal

Imma be honest: I have no doubt that Acheron is going to cause a ripple across the meta, since Black swan + Kafka is already 2# best, or even the best team comp in the game currently for every type of game mode. Acheron being added to that, and if she synergies with both of them will cause massive changes to meta, something we haven’t seen since jingliu.
