  • Fiskars 14' Power-Lever Extendable Pole Saw & Pruner - Product Review
    As many of you know, our family is building a new house on an acreage. As part of this process, we've been forced to learn so many new things, as we get closer to moving into our new home. Taking care of the trees has been an eye opener for me, as we have a few acres of timber on our property, and this tool will really help me to get the job done.

    I watched this not because I’m looking at getting a pole saw but simply because it’s a Brian Phillips video and they’re hilarious 😂😁

      I'm so glad to hear that YOU GET ME!!! Thanks for watching. I hope that you will endure my "duds", because there are occasional "better" videos...."coming soon"

    Great video. This was exactly what I needed to get myself oriented to the tool before use. I'm excited to give it a go!

      Awesome! It's a LOT of work, but gets the job done. The rod is more helpfull for the CLIPPER part, in our experience, but depends on how large the branches are, that you need to trim.
      Good luck Sarah!

      Thanks Thomas! glad you enjoyed it. We very recently did a review on a telescopic electric chainsaw - WAY EASIER ;)

    I have one of those and have used it many times. They really come in handy.

      I totaly agree! WE have this NASTY thorny stuff that grows up in bunches, and will literally crawl from tree to tree and cross the creek! I can just use the pruner to cut them where it really counts - at the base of the plant!!!

    Thank you for the video; I need to use this; I'm intimidated by this tool. You've helped me. The camera lady did fine work, I must add. 😊

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Erin! When you get ready to use it, the cutter vs the saw is so much better! We love the way it works. The saw would be tough on a large limb...but might be JUST out of reach with other means, so it would definitely get you up there. This tool is also super nice for getting things that end up on the roof...like a random trash bag that gets stuck or a RC airplane - LOL ;)
      Megan is wonderful with her camera work - I'm so lucky she puts up with me!

    I totally agree that there should be a manual/instructions on attaching the saw. I used the cutter when I first bought it, but didn't use the saw until now and forgot the exact orientation of the bolt, and if there was another connection. Thanks for refreshing my memory on the correct way. Seems like an easy thing for Fiskars to do.

      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So glad we could help!!! I love the tool, but after I got this, we found a few that you can plug into 110VAC, and they looked so nice, almost worth the wonderful prospect of 200-300 feet of extension cables - LOL ;)
      Thanks for stopping by Steve!

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure! It would take for-ever to do all the projects I need to do out here, but it worked well for the chopper too! I think I might get an AC powered unit, and just drag out an extension cord??? Maybe I can just drive my truck out there - it has an outlet in it - LOL ;)
      Thanks for stopping by Jamalee!

      WOW - Great price! I've been happy with ours, but it is a bit of a pain to keep the string tame while using it.

    I think the 2nd lock is part of the double locking feature they have to keep the extended part in place. Great review!

  • @brianchambers1515
    @brianchambers1515 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can actually hear the water fall in that 1. I found on mine the more you angle the blade the better the cut on the downstroke. I can't believe Megan gave us the finger......lmao...Good video guys.👍

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL - she did give me the finger - Even the camera was excited about it!!!
      As for the angle of the saw blade...what do you think? Should I make it more straight up and down, or more at the 30 degree angle? I kinda see what you're saying about the cut on the fore-stroke...but not 100% sure we're speaking the same language :)

    • @brianchambers1515
      @brianchambers1515 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No not straight-up-and-down the more angle that you can set your blade the better off you'll be I always found that you got 90% of your cutting On the down stroke The greater the angle the more drag you create where the blade meets the limb and you'll get a better cut for the effort When working above your head every stroke counts for you back sake.....lol.. I'm on my 2nd blade I use mine alot And by the way I put a removeable clasp at the end of my rope to where I can take my rope off when I'm doing mainly cutting.. Mines a little different from yours . Through the pulleys mine is chain Then at the end of the chain I have a key chain ring then that's where my removeable clasp goes and then from there down its rope... Anyway Maybe that will give you some kind of idea with your rope. system Wish there were some way you can send pictures would be a little bit easier to explain...lmao

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Okay, great advice!!! I will get a removable clasp too. That seems like something they might have installed at the factory ;)
      Thanks Brian!

    Great review the saw is usesless from my experience returning mine to home depot asap soon. Neighbor has Ryobi 12 ft cordless extension 10" chain saw that he likes and will now spend the extra $50.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally agree, EXCEPT for the Pruning Sears Feature - this thing works AWESOME! The saw is almost an exerciser in futility.
      The power saws are real cool, but I can only imagine what pain in the buttocks, oiling the bar and chain would be...but we HAVE reviewed some small chainsaws that are "dry"....and they DO work...but nothing of a replacement for a REAL chainsaw, as you can totally imagine.
      I want an AC version, so I can actually cut a bigger branch, despite the pain of dealing with extension cords.

  • @goriverman
    @goriverman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Brian I have one similar. They work but are hard to use. Good for small jobs. I borrowed my friends electric one, that was allot easier.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I saw one right after publishing this video and I might buy it too. It's super cheap too!!!!! I still think this is a better fit for the back timber, as that one plugs into 120VAC...the battery operated one was still pretty reasonable.

    • @goriverman
      @goriverman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brian Phillips the one I used was corded, the trees I did were only 50 ft away

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have lots of outlets outside, but I bet I'd need about 200-250 feet for the grove behind my house....but then there's no expensive weird, proprietary batteries to die JUST before you need them, and the AC systems always seem to be more powerful too.
      I saw a limb today, while we were out working, and it definitely needs cut down. Maybe it would be worth some effort to get that electric one...hummmmmm

      Coming on the update that's SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWLLLLLLY uploading NOW. Our internet is like 10% normal right now, and not sure what's going on. It will hopefully publish tomorrow, if the thing gets uploaded.
      Sorry about that Danny!!!
      P.S. This week we may have the "runway" V1 - seriously, it may be done THIS week - unfortunately, my indebtedness will be getting much worse at the same time ;) You will get it when you see the plans.

      Brian Phillips Hey Brian thanks for the feedback. I fully understand, when you post it, it will be fun to watch. Look forward to watching your Videos. Hang on to that pruner, it may come in handy to retrieve a plane. I think I’m well experienced at retrieving my planes. LOL

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to mention that, as I grabbed a purple balloon from like 20 feet away in that waterfall "pit" behind our house, but that was right after the video ended :(
      It does seem like it would be a great tool. I have my "stick of shame" which is a 3 stage extendable painting tool. It goes higher, and it's got a screw on tool adapter at the end. I love it, but didn't need one of these saws until we bought this property.
      The video is at 94% right now, then processing, so you can see it Monday Morning.
      My wife is gonna have to get with our internet provider tomorrow and find out what is going on...but to be honest, this is kinda what we have to look forward to at our new place...SLOW, but don't worry, it's also SUPER EXPENSIVE!!! We got a quote for $63,000 for fiber directly into our house, but we would probably need to win the lottery before that's gonna happen...but it was good for a quick laugh :)

    • @dannyhelton6363
      @dannyhelton6363 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brian PhillipsWOW, but I would rather have a slow internet and get new house. Besides when you get frustrated you can get mad at that verse the kids. Building a new house is fun (I think) I’ll always remember that experience. If you don’t get divorced during the fun, then in the end it’s (ALL WORTH IT) see you on the next one. Wishing the best to you and your family.

    This tool is great to trim a few branches. But if you need to cut down an ENTIRE FOREST...you might want to invest in a chain saw!

      Totally!!! I hope the carpet helps, but also, we might throw a scrap piece up on top the shelf of the active dormer. This will almost certainly help, but we aren't sure it'll be enough. Also, window treatments will help too (we hope).
