    I told you to go further before turning in, but you didn’t hear me. You can camp right at the base of the mountain. Fire agate all over the ground.

      Rick, I tried finding the agate hunting area in the past but unsuccessful. Do you have GPS coordinates you could share with me or directions from a reference point. I live outside of Kingman but familiar with the area down that way. Or from the billboard at the 14 day camp area what part of the mountain is best to search?

    Wonder if you could drive a van out far enough to get to the base of the mountains? Not everyone is lucky enough to have a buggy. I understand why fires are prohibited, but that is the fun of getting off the road and boondocking. Have always enjoyed a night campfire and cooking meals over a fire. Too many years as a Boy Scout... lol. Thanks Russ for showing us another great place to get away and enjoy nature.

    My parents used to live in wagon West on Highway 60 just a a little further down the road and it's got great RV Trails if you go back in the back of wagon West you did make a right and you can see what we call the Little Grand Canyon and if you go left you could take that pass up and over the mountains you can take it under I-10 and to the back it's absolutely fabulous area to do some ATV!! I wish I was there right now!

      Russ was in a non-preferred, smaller section for bringing in larger trailers, 5th wheels and roads that get up close to the mountain. You need to still go a bit further west and as the road starts to descend, that's where all the turn offs are. There's a 2nd BLM kiosk that looks exactly like the one Russ stopped at - that's where you want to go.

    No. Because in my other 14 day free camping offers
    don't pick my choice of vehicle stop or rest location.
    I prefer locations with karst exploration recreation
    and shade outside afterward. With no venomous
    reptiles. If it pleases me I'll do underground kayaking
    where the sun never shines. Feel free to turn over
    rocks at saddle mountain and go float your hopes.

      Our PM is not the reason we aren't coming down there ... Covid-19 is the one and only reason. Russ stopped at the wrong spots in this video and is still further west for the more popular section. Mind you, the 2nd stop is a good spot for the buggy rides.

    I use to camp there a long time ago. There are a lot of snakes, both the one that crawl on their bellies and the 2 legged ones. Nice trail that goes to top. It used to be real dangerous. You can drive all the way from Phoenix to the saddles with out leaving black top roads. I have heard full automatic gun fire in this area. Just be careful and camp where you can't be seen from highway and you should be fine.

    • @ScubaSteveCanada
      @ScubaSteveCanada 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Different times, I guess ... I've stayed there multiple times over the past two years during fall, winter & spring - I've never seen any snakes, nor has anyone I spoke with there. Hiking in the washes, on the mountain sides and hiking on the flats; no snakes but perhaps the warmer days/nights of late spring to early fall bring them out. No issues with the two-legged kind either.
      As for the gun fire ... that still happens, right at the two spots Russ stopped at. I camped at the second spot and found the noise unbearable so shifted further west.
