Looks real nice. Safe, clean, and an old-world gentleman owner/manager - pay your fees, keep your nose clean like, and everything is alright. And the price is really fair by any standard
I watched this once before (about 2 years ago) and had forgotten about it till it just came back up on a random search. When I went to Quartzsite back in November (from IL) I missed Tucson area. This sounded like a good place to check out, but I had forgotten. So, this video is 2 years old now, it needs an updated video to show all that's changed in the past 2 years. PLEASE SOMEONE DO A NEW VIDEO HERE FOR EVERYONE ! Maybe on way home in March I can route myself thru here. But, I'm old and will be doing good to remember how to get back home without adding a detour to here !
For the price you mentioned early in the video I figured you just got a spot to camp and some dump sites, but I can't believe all the other things you get access to. A SHOP?! Jim has got to be one of the coolest people on the planet.
I want to own such a community. We need younger people to get interested in a life of this kind of service. Look how many lives Jim has blessed over his lifetime.
This man seems like a real humanitarian. What a great resource for the mobile living community. I hope we will be seeing more places like this around the country.
@Brandow Funky That's great, you should do really good with it. Hopefully lots of services like this will pop up for the nomads. Garage bay rentals with power and lights and rentable tools maybe even have the property have a corner for a shower house, dog walk area, and laundry matt for people that need to deep clean or do service on the rigs but have nowhere convenient or safe to do that. People could reserve a stall like an Airbnb pay like a hotel so you don't have to leave the rig or if you need to safely unload it. Also, there's a shortage of RV mechanics, and custom build shops. Many gas stations should be paying more attention to new profit opportunity in accomodating nomads. They could add a laundry matt/ shower facility building. Hopefully, lots of businesses are going to come with the increasing volume of people living full-time out of wheeled vehicles. It's not just the retirees in expensive RVs or hobos on meth living in a van down by the river, it's everybody in between now to.
This has to be one of the most amazing places I've ever seen . It would be a dream to retire and spend my years in such a place . Camper , truck and a basic 4 wheeler . You could live there easy on Social Security and live good .
My wife and I camped at Caballo Loco several years ago, attending a star party there. During that stay, I helped install a 14" telescope and mount in the observatory. I believe the ranch was then part of a cooperative. We had a wonderful time and delighted in meeting some of the unique individuals living there. I'm happy to learn that the ranch is still there and seems to be thriving under Jim's ownership.
What an outstanding man! There aren't many left that actually care about values, community, or trust. God bless all of his endeavors and those in the community!💗
I’d love for you to do an interview with him to learn more about him. Please do a follow up interview with him to learn about his life and what led him to take on Caballo ranch.

Jim seems like a modern day John Wayne. A hard working, honest guy not out to screw people with their greed. Bob, you mentioned this ranch in a previous video. I am happy you did an interview/tour.
Bob thank you for setting this video up with Jim! Jim you are an amazing guy with a lot of courage and a big heart to give people like me an affordable place to stay. Looking forward to making it out your way.
I lived there when it was the Wild Horse RV Ranch. It looks as they have really expanded. We lived there all yr and the summers are brutal and the road in is a killer. Also there a lot of old mineshaft scattered around. There were dances every sat nite and the lights went off at 10pm. Lots of fun. We lived there from 1995 thru 98. Highly recommended!
Oh God, the whole world is so stressful right now, that I now think I could live the last days in there,It is looking more and more like paradise to me, I need some peaceeeeeeeeee
Good way to get away and rest for a while. You could do a 6 month mini retirement for only a few thousand bucks. Good way to prevent yourself from going crazy and give you a chance to reset and maybe even do some online schooling and reinvent yourself. Without going broke and getting thrown out on the street.
Bob, I never thought I could live in an RV until I saw this video. Thanks so much for sharing a beautiful place for a very reasonable price! The owner seems like a fantastic person! So good to see that.
What a gem! Thanks, Bob for finding these treasures for us. Look forward to visiting CYR when I'm planning my next trip. It looks like a sweet and peaceful community. Yes, the desert has its own special kind of beauty for those who wish to see it.
