I have loved Burro Creek since I was in single digits. It was one of our favorite camping areas from the late 60's-early 70's. My mom dispersed my dad's ashes from the cliff above the water. I think he would be glad.
There is a Hot spring down by the creek. Clothing optional. Burro creek starts up by Bagdad and flows into ALIMO lake. There are mines to the east of the bridge a couple miles up the creek, hiked it in 1976.
Very nice tour, I'm lucky to have stumbled onto your page here. I hope you don't mind some personal recollections. I once saw two young men base jump from the old bridge, which is now only the north bound side. Before they jumped , each threw his helmet from the bridge. They shattered, and their fragments were still visible down there 20 tears later. Me and another fella formed, poured, and finished the concrete on many of those camp site pads. Almost perfectly beneath the OLD bridge, there's a deep scour in the gravel of the creek bed. I've never seen it without water in it. I always said I was gonna dive down to the bottom of it and I tried. I walked up from the camp ground, got down to my chonies and gave it a try. I couldn't do it. About 7 feet down the water was so shockingly cold, it liked to give me convulsions. Many years later I heard a local cowboy went in there on on his horse and drowned. Very sad.
Excellent video, lovely to see Arizona from your passenger seat. I'm in lock down in Valencia Spain where we can't go out of the house except for shopping so it's a great pleasure to accompany you. Your appreciation of flowers and the scenery together with your little chuckles add to my experience. Keep your trips coming.
I wanted to let you know that I appreciate you! Watching your videos has become part of my morning "Corona routine." I find your sensibility and commentary very endearing, and I've added RV'ing to my bucket list. Thanks for the escape!
Burro Creek looks like a great camp site! I agree, go in the winter. Wouldn’t want to be out there in 100+ temps! Another fun RVerTV trip. Thanks so much Russ!
Enjoyed the video today! We have been to Wikieup, and would love to camp at Burro Creek campground in the future! Thank you for showing us places we might never find on our own! Stay safe!
I used to camp for free at Burro Creek and spend hours swimming in the pond under the red cliffs. You missed a spot coming up 93 Lucia's restaurant is a must stop place. Great story the couple settled there and she started making and selling pies ,they have a great patio for eating and garden with fish pond. Guess they must be closed now
I found this after I traveled this road in June and got hooked on RverTv. Awesome!!! Only two good road trips this summer due to pandemic....but thanks to Russ, I been road tripping all summer! 👍
Burro creek Is the first stop on the way home and the last night out for us from our Az winter abode in Surprise. A nifty spot that has its own unique vibe! Kinda sorry you spilled the beans on one of our favorite secret campsites, Russ!!!😬
I was at los burros I like the weather out there it's cool and not hot it's the perfect spot to build a cabin I got to see a fox squirrel it was coming down from a tree it was so cute the way it kept on with business 🤣😂🤣😂
In the fall of 1964 I went deer hunting with an off-duty U.S. Border Patrol friend of mine in this canyon. I was 20 years old back then. He was 34. That bridge was a steel erected structure back then too. The road (SR 93) was one lane each direction and was known as Bloody 93 back in the day. People leaving Las Vegas at the last minute and hurrying home to Phoenix caused many fatal accidents. The little white crosses looked like a picket fence.
Most of the time you understand the Zen of long distance driving. Just relax and zone into the scenery and the details under that huge sky. My wife and i have done a couple of drives out west. We do not use a camper but drive from NH to the West in our C-6 Corvette Coupe. We stay in hotels, motels and cabins. Suits us better than camping. Besides Roads like the Beartooth Pass Road from Red Lodge, MT to Cook City in a 'Vett is a great drive in a great car.
The drive north from Wickenburg is so beautiful. The top of each mountain reveals a more spectacular view then the last. Wickiup has a fantastic restuarant called Luchia's. They have the most delicious looking home made desserts on display. Has a beautiful outside patio area you can eat and enjoy the beautiful well manicured grounds. Prices very reasonable. You should give them a try some time.
Stayed there 2 times. It is nice when not busy. You can swim/lounge in the creek. We walked down to Burro Creek Hot Springs - park under the hwy, bridge and walk down the wash , about 4 kms. one way , take drinking water.
We drove 93from LV to Phoenix last month on our way to ELP. About 12 hours including pit stops and meals. The part that is to be Ih11 is well on its way the parts that are done are nice, will be a nice drive once it’s done. Nice video thank you .
Awesome video as always. So we did a video there a couple months ago after winter storms and the creek was raging. So much so that kayakers were rafting the creek. There’s a seasonal host who is there a lot of the time and is very knowledgeable about the area. There have been times when people base jump(probably not legally) off the bridge. There’s videos of that online too. Love your videos.
I grew up traveling back and forth from vegas to Phoenix. Stopped there many times. Its much nicer now. I might have to give it a try. Thanks for the visual update for me. Memories brought back.😊
Great comments on this post! Few people make videos like you do Russ, I have enjoyed how you always have the same attitude of "wow, this is neat" no matter how many videos we view. When I was kid there were travelogs offered occasionally where I lived, with the folks who took the films narrating them on the stage in a huge auditorium. In a lot of ways You Tube videos and the efforts made by folks like you to make these videos are an updated version of the same thing.
Thanks for posting this. We live in Ash Fork, AZ. Usually spend the winter in Quartzsite. Never heard of Burro Canyon Campground. Will have to go there next year.
I noticed no camp host as you pulled in. Been there a few times dry camping. The camp host only gets supplied solar, and i dont think its enough to run a/c. So, even the elevation, it still gets hot. About 60 miles to kingman, or the same to Wickenburg for groceries. Thanks for sharing Russ
I've been trapped at Burro Creek for two days because it rained, and the clay road is too slippery to drive on. Hopefully, the road is dry enough to leave today.
@raysmith5071 Yes, thank you. After a day and a night of the wind drying the clay, I was able to drive out at 11 am. on Thursday. Now I'm back at my booth in the quartzsite gem show. Showing off the glow in the dark rocks I collected in those two days for my terrariums with uv lights. The burro was out there every day by my camper. I could hear him in the morning. He was marking his territory, lol.
@raysmith5071 it was down to 37 if I remember correctly. Another storm was rolling in Thursday night. Snow on and off until January 5th. That area I was stuck in is about 1 mile. From mile marker 12 to 13. It's called clay hills. It's actually my fault for stopping there. I wanted to go a little further to the creek (mile marker 14) but never made it. You can go out either way from that point.. I went back the way I went in. Mile marker 14 is halfway. It's a loop from the Interstate.
A few miles after you turned off I 40 on to 93 you passed a big housing development that went broke. Kinda of interesting, The model homes are setting there abandoned and all the future house pad and streets are there. Big sales office home just east of off 93. should check it out some time.
A buddy of mine drilled the holes for the pylons for that bridge he told me his crew had to wear hip boots because the rattle snakes was so bad . They had never seen rattle snakes so thick
you said wonder whats down that road? i went down there one time over the little burro creek bridge and a mile or two you come to a junk yard with a few old rusted cars and refrigerators . havent been there in 20 years tho. forgot all about it. never did see a burro at burro creek.
That one place was a "Chicago Style Eatery", huh? Must be they have the Al Capone Special on the menu--linguini in red clam sauce with a thirty-eight on the side.
Oh man I think I can drive that stretch of 40 from Needles into Kingman with my eyes closed. Haven't been down 93 in about 10-15 years; forgotten what a nice drive it is. Really nice campground & can't beat Sr. price. Just wondering when not so buggy outside winter timeframe. Will have to detour to here on 1 of our trips heading E on 40. If you ever get to CA, S of Monterey Peninsula going S on Hwy 1 is Bixby Creek Bridge at edge of Pacific. Looks exactly like this bridge.
I appreciate the time and expense of fuel spent to make these videos. Thank you.
Don't worry, we're paying for it

Very nice.
Russ you are absolutely right, this area is a hidden gem. Globe is a great looking old city. Thank you for taking us along, safe travels.

Nice video, thank you! Ron USA
$7 a night with old man pass? Oh, heck yes!!!! Thanks Russ!!!!!!!
This is first Rver TV video that got me hooked. Thanks Russ!!!

Looks like a great place to camp in the winter. The cactus garden was cool. Thanks for another boredom buster trip Russ!
I orginally came to Az in 1993 to base jump the Burro Creek bridge,,,,,great memories
Yes after 5 weeks in quartzsite We are headed to Zion on Saturday.
The skies so blue!
I used to camp for free at Burro Creek and spend hours swimming in the pond under the red cliffs. You missed a spot coming up 93 Lucia's restaurant is a must stop place. I caught a number of fish here is 1969 from the bridge with string n fish hooks. The creek had much more water back then.

Bravo , Your Canadian fans Love RVerTV ; your videos . Thank you Russ.
You can come over the mountains from the boriana mine and run into wikieup, we stayed at the trading post fun ride we started in kingman

We are with ya Russ
Thanks for showing this campground. I would stay there in a heartbeat !.....In winter.
The last time I traveled 93 it was getting towards twilight and got surprised by two mountain lion, almost hit them.

🙋♀️Hello Russ! I thought it was a nice day to stop & see Burro Creek Campground. 👍 I hope you get to enjoy the rest of your day Russ!
Hello Russ, Good of you to show us this place. Well traveled road too, never gave the place a thought till now! Thank You!

The first time I saw this same view from the bridge back in 1985 I thought to myself....what an AWESOME view :>))
That road that goes over the bridge is the old highway. Believe it or not there are fish in that creek.
Great Video Russ!
Thanks for posting this. We live in Ash Fork, AZ. Usually spend the winter in Quartzsite. Never heard of Burro Canyon Campground. Will have to go there next year.
You inspired me to order a drone. Your videos are so good-
Thank you, you are appreciated.
thank you
Very cool Russ!!👍
I spent a couple nights there in early December. It was just after a big rainstorm and Burro Creek was raging. Very peaceful at night.
Yay road trip. My favorite, got to follow along on my road atlas. Campground wasn't on my map though.
Thanks for the ride along Russ! Was only 75 here in central Illinois today. Stay healthy.
Heading there this Thanksgiving. Thank you for the Video!
. YEA

Thanks for sharing with us.stay safe.
It's a popular place, I drove thru just to look. It was packed in December. TAKE CARE..
27* here this morning in up-state NY. Snowe twice earlier this week. And NO cactus here either. LOL
Learning a lot from your Arizona travels. Thanks Man
thanks! this is my go to channel!
Good night my friend good video beautiful view.
14 bucks is a deal compared to what they charge in California which is anywhere between 30 and $35 a night for a state park
It's up to $50 a night in Washington St Parks with services. $30 a night for a tent site with no services. Most expensive state parks in the west.
Great info on the campground! Thanks Russ.
Russ, thanks for view of Burro Creek... added this to my campground database. Appreciate it.
Enjoy your videos! Thanks for posting.
I've been trapped at Burro Creek for two days because it rained, and the clay road is too slippery to drive on. Hopefully, the road is dry enough to leave today.
Did you escape?
@raysmith5071 Yes, thank you. After a day and a night of the wind drying the clay, I was able to drive out at 11 am. on Thursday. Now I'm back at my booth in the quartzsite gem show. @@calscottoh That's cool and Burro Creek looks like a great place. I'm sure the temps were dropping pretty low?

@@calscottoh 37 is not that bad when you expect it. Sounds as though you had a little adventure and weren’t bored at all.
There was a place in Wikieup that had the best homemade hot apple pie and icecream.
Well burro Creek is definitely worth the $14 a day just to go down to the creek and go fishing
Road trip🌞
Thanks, for helping me locate the camp ground.
welcome home
Thank you.
Wow Russ that is a cool place to camp. Love the drone footage man. Stay safe out there buddy. Cheers!!!
Used to live in Kingman ❤🤗🙋♂️❤🤗🙋♂️
Nice video and nice campground. I could stay there for a couple of weeks with no problem.
I love to hear a bout az. My son
Lives there
A few miles after you turned off I 40 on to 93 you passed a big housing development that went broke. Kinda of interesting, The model homes are setting there abandoned and all the future house pad and streets are there. Big sales office home just east of off 93. should check it out some time.
spooky, and kinda sad...
I'm building one now. Soon. Very soon
A buddy of mine drilled the holes for the pylons for that bridge he told me his crew had to wear hip boots because the rattle snakes was so bad . They had never seen rattle snakes so thick
AZ has more varities of rattlesnakes than any other state. I'm visiting AZ this winter!
Thats the only thing that makes me reluctant to visit Az. Not even the Mt Lions would deter me..But those Rats? Nahh!
Enjoying the Video.
Cool! I have driven by there a few times, but never checked it out. I have been camping near Bagdad down the road from there.
I almost bought 40 acs high above wikieup 10 years ago, nice town
14 ain’t too bad I guess considering dump station/ water and I saw some trash cans. I’d stay a night or two. 👍🏼
I have ALWAYS been curious about this campground living in AZ past 30 years and never thought it would be developed.
Nice spot Russ, Thanks, might have to check it out.
I love wickiup
Beautiful area.
Great video, loved the drone footage!
Been planning on stopping there I pass 4 times. Now plan to camp
you said wonder whats down that road? i went down there one time over the little burro creek bridge and a mile or two you come to a junk yard with a few old rusted cars and refrigerators . havent been there in 20 years tho. forgot all about it. never did see a burro at burro creek.
I love the small roads. I don't want it changed to interstate. I still drive route 66 through there
Can't believe I heard you say the prices have really gone down. 2 years ago. Now they're skyrocketed
Love that campground. 3 weeks ago that place was packed
Are these little towns places where Snowbirds stay for few months in Winter? So many Rv parks lol!
nice weather there..but can not beat the green trees of PNW
Love ur videos Russ 😁 thanks
That one place was a "Chicago Style Eatery", huh? Must be they have the Al Capone Special on the menu--linguini in red clam sauce with a thirty-eight on the side.
It's called dazzos great Chile dogs
Jaime saludos desde Puerto Rico.
Ill have to check this one out! Thanks Russ!

I wonder what people do once they are there?
I have been there ! You cut off the video before you got to Nothing, Az.
There really is nothing there anymore except a wide spot to pull off and a giant cell tower.
Nice road trip
Altimeter ,in your van. Would be great info for us. Altitude is such a big factor in Az. Thanks
bill from phoenix good show, nice. Thank you
