You guys are an inspiration. Garrett you really are a true craftsman. I thought I was a perfectionist until I started watching your channel. I love how you guys work so well together. The boat is looking amazing. Keep up the good work
Facebook has kept our family together in a way not possible otherwise, especially now. TH-cam has kept the little familys together that have been formed by people like you. Your videos are so important to us right now. Take a big bow, and a virtual hug from us all. It's about the only normal some of us have 😘
Hope you kids are safe and sound down there while we live through this deal. A little tip for Garrett, excuse me if he knows, but if ya gotta cut screws like that to shorten them up, and don't have a chasing die handy to clean up any burrs on the thread run a nut onto the threads past the point where you plan to cut and when you pull the nut off it'll clean the threads up a bit, also gives another surface for the vise to lock the piece down. Again, not talking down, and he probably knows this already but thought I'd offer it anyway.
Stay safe you two! You've brought a lot of joy into lots of folks life, who live the dream if only vicariously through you! Blessings on ya, fair winds!
PLEASE keep the episodes long. Right now TH-cam is carrying a lot of people through very difficult times. Plus we just love the content. I see nothing wrong with 30 minutes of Rediviva! ❤️
The port lights are really nice looking as well as quite functional. Puting all of the butyl tape on was a real slow chore but a Must Do to make it water tight.
The polished bronze looks beautiful!!!!! It really gives the boat an entirely different look. Very stately classic presence with elegance on the water I was waiting for you to do this. I hope you use more bronze or brass for trim and accents. It wears well and takes it all to a different level.
You guys are such an inspiration & your work is amazingly expertise, love it! Have been following you & have seen the majority of episodes, just don't have time to watch every one nor comment every time but know your labor of love is highly appreciated & respected! Garrett, as a perfectionist myself, I love your attention to detail...
For anyone who uses butyl in the future - if you are in a hot environment it can be hard to work with. Pop it in the fridge for a bit and becomes much easier.
I don't think I've seen Swab run before! Okay, he wasn't going flat out but it's definitely the fastest I've seen him move. Keep age, guy and thanks for keeping the content coming, it's much appreciated!
You have the richest fullest eyelashes. They are beautiful. And your girlfriend is also gorgeous. ;) Awesome work dudes. Awesome! You made dead trees into a boat. Those trees could have ended up as a boring kitchen. You saved them from a fate worse than Ikea. Boat's looking nice with port holes installed. Very nice. Your hard work did this. I hope you enjoy it to the max and take us with you. Try to survive the zombie apocalypse. May the loo roll be with you.
For the outboard hatch under the table, just put an attachment point somewhere on the bottom of the table to hold it open. Because if the table is lifted, won't it still be in the way of an attachment point to the wall etc? And typically, if you're going in there, the table will also be lifted/attached (I assume, at least)
For the hull side hinge of the table you could use these hinges which come apart. Here in Europe we call them Paumelle hinges... It allows you to not just hinge things but slide them easily off the hinges to remove the piece completely out of the way of need be...
I know this is too late and perhaps I am saying something you already know, but I have learned this from direct experience. Any installation even close to the bilge needs to be completely protected from water intrusion. I first assume that you are using the marine grade stuff. Secondly, before you install it, always seal the plywood first. Of course it will be painted, etc but keeping the water out will save a difficult job in the future if water intrusion causes a failure. Even in an apparently inconsequential piece. It's looking great.
Love the portlights. I really love butyl rubber. I just re-bedded all the stanchions on a 37' Tabisha that we are getting ready for the 2022 Golden Globe Race. The owner bought 3M 4200 for the job and I luckily convinced him that we should use butyl. Thank the Gods we did as we had to remove and re-bed 4 of them and the butyl made it a no big deal job whereas the 4200 would have been a giant mess. Love your boat.
Finally someone that says Portlights not ports. Good call using the butyl for your stanchions. 4200 works but you have to let it 'Harden' before you can fully tighten the bases down.
I was so young when my dad did a complete gut and rebuild job on his first wood yacht,24', ( he cut off entire deck ). I was there watching but to young to really appreciate the 2 year process (and almost a divorce!), He had sketched out his plans butbthere must have been so much thinking involved ( like Garrett has to do). Cheers Warren
R&G - just got back from leaving Ravenswing in MX, and am catching up on episodes. LOVE the f'cstle chat on the improved bed platform at the end of ep78. That really captured the spirit of boatbuilding :) Garrett, yes yes yes on taking each little interior projects to as close to 100% as possible in the moment! We've been in the water almost four years now and I'm still going back to finish the minor improvements (ventilations holes is a great example), and IT SUCKS to be doing it now in Baja where there's no vacuum cleaner, "we should be snorkeling", etc. There were too many things I took to 75-90% done, and now they are such a nuisance. Get it done now, and you will be so thankful later. -Greg
Well hello there...I just woke up from sitting watching something on YT, and was just getting ready for bed and look who shows up on my screen! Guess bed will have to wait whilst I sit and have a visit with Ruth, Garrett and Swab.
It will be the most beautiful ship anyone has seen in a long time. The colors and the paint are so nice. You are so talented and creative. I envy the tremendous work that goes into that project. I use the t-shirt.
You guys stay safe and healthy as well. The port lights are beautiful. I heard buetal tape was good stuff, but so don’t know anybody that has the guts to try it. I’m definitely going to use it when I rebed my ports.
I am very familiar with butyl rubber it's commonly used on telecommunications RF antenna lines and connectors on towers. Very good for waterproofing and just a great product.
Make an interior frame to hold the portal closer to the full length of the screws. That will bring them in closer to matching the interior depth of wall coverings like insulation or slats.
This is tough to explain but I'll give it a shot. the hammer setting on your drill is used with masonry bits it actually causes the bit to bounce in the hole it is not like an impact which "hammers" in a rotary motion. if you were to really crank on it you could bounce that screw bit right out of your screw head and cause you to lose control and garf it up real good just use the clutch settings for fine-tuning the screw torque.
Blinge blinge blinge ! The best kind on a boat !! I don't know why so many DIYer use various caulks. Butyl tape is easy to work with, easy to install, easy to remove and any scraps can be reused (kept them sealed from the air).
You two are so talented in many ways. First is the detail of being together for so long and you still manage your endeavor to work together as a loving devoted team. Garrett could write a book on wood working. Ruth could you make a tutorial on making videos? Yes you could. If You Tube has an award program for making videos, you'd be a sure winner. All week long, just can't wai to see y'alls new episode. Keep up with the greatness.
The port lights are looking absolutely beautiful. Great job.
The portholes look absolutely beautiful
The port lights really look great. Nice workmanship installing them. I think your winning the battle with water.
Wonder rubber, a whole new construction category. Well done
How nice to see all of your accomplishments ,all the hard work ...the pay off I’m so happy for the two of you !!! You guys rock🤘
You guys are an inspiration. Garrett you really are a true craftsman. I thought I was a perfectionist until I started watching your channel. I love how you guys work so well together. The boat is looking amazing. Keep up the good work
Looking better every week, keep up the good work and most importantly STAY SAFE
Stay safe and healthy yourselves, shipmates. xx

Your videos are so important to us right now. Take a big bow, and a virtual hug from us all. It's about the only normal some of us have 😘
Nice Job . The ports fit the boat perfectly. Finish the bilge pump. Drill that hole. install that auto switch. You never know.
He did put a nut on first, and he gripped the unused part of thread in the vise, it appears he also touched the ends up using a file, perfect job.
What a team!! Outstanding workmanship and problem solving!! STAY SAFE!!
Very nice job on the portals. You two are on it. Excellent. The pride in your work is evident on your faces.
Stay safe you two! You've brought a lot of joy into lots of folks life, who live the dream if only vicariously through you! Blessings on ya, fair winds!

Absolutely
Yes, as a retired carpenter I find these videos very soothing!

Wow...Swab moves!
Beautiful video Ruth, editing was spot on. Portholes look amazing almost as nice as that sunset. Stay safe and healthy you guys.
Wow… now she's getting "purdy"...love your tea keetle...
I bet those port lights give you a much needed boost of positivity! Sunshine .. heck.. just natural light.. is needed for life!
I used a ton of butyl in restoring our 1984 Shasta Airflyte camper. This video gave me flashbacks!
Rediviva just went up a big notch on the Salty scale with the new Ports , great video, excellent music choice .
The portholes gives it a personality
ROUND port lights are so damn SALTY. Mmmmmmm.
The port lights are really nice looking as well as quite functional. Puting all of the butyl tape on was a real slow chore but a Must Do to make it water tight.

It's Bronze, not brass.
@@gking5522 sorry, hard to tell. Its polished so nice. Either way it looks amazing.
Pro tip: At the end of a hot day when the butyl has softened give all the bolts on your ports another quick tightening.
Be gentle about it.
You are a BAD person to call yourself Rev. Jim Jones and the Kool-aid drinkers. This person was nothing but a mass murderer
@@michaelday7890 maybe he's trying to bring light to a situation, you know raise; awareness for the safety of future generations.
I like koolaide 😁
Thanks. As usual, great music...
Love the attention to detail, relaxes my OCD. xxxx
Nice job, guys, it's a pleasure to see Rediviva more and more beautiful. See you next video. Nino
Beautiful portholes, they really upped the appearance of the cabin. Nice job with all the butyl tape. Thanks for sharing.
I like those port lights, and your carpentry skills are great.

Thanks for posting and sharing. Ports look amazing!
No kidding what a difference natural daylight makes, especially spread out like you have done.
Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. More and more, the true little ship. Stay healthy❤️🙂
Wow! Those ports are beautiful!
You two are impressive human beings in soooo many ways! I admire you both greatly.
Great job! Beautiful work. Stay safe, well and sane. Swab will help you.
Garrett your skills are exceeded only by your faith in yourself. Your boss seems easy to work for as well
For anyone who uses butyl in the future - if you are in a hot environment it can be hard to work with. Pop it in the fridge for a bit and becomes much easier.
She is looking more and more BEAUTIFUL !!!
Some really useful bling has suddenly transformed a monumental project into wonderful habitat. Congrats

Very nice video. Love the craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Bravo! They look majestic!!!
Hardware is a satisfying part of boat building...Looks awesome!

I know you are done but, has anyone mentioned....screw a nut on the bolt 'before' cutting, remove and the threads are good.
Looking GREAT btw.
Maj. Tom, that is what he did

Garrett...I've been a carpenter for almost 40 years, let me tell ya.....that was a dam fine cut!
She has very fine lines!
Exciting. Awesome sunset!
I hope both of you are well and please stay safe.

You guys are awesome, I so like the brass. Good job!,
So good to see you slipped a nut on the bolt before cutting it. I was worried for a minute there :D
Thank you for giving us hope and goodness to watch.
Rediviva looks lovely with her new ports installed.
Wow those porthole windows are looking amazing, really jelous on you both living on your boat, wish i was in that position, stay safe guys

The port holes give your yacht a nice bit of character. Well done with your installation method. Cheers Ian New Zealand
Great looking portholes !
You guys do great work! Well done! Hope you are staying healthy Ruth and Garrett.
That's a pretty sweet job as always. Love the way the lights plays with the ports, completely changed the way the boat look both inside and outside!

thank you for uploading. it keeps us at home entertained and keep safe from South Africa

Make an interior frame to hold the portal closer to the full length of the screws. That will bring them in closer to matching the interior depth of wall coverings like insulation or slats.
When cutting down bolts, if you put a nut on first then take it off after you've done the cut, it will fix up the threads on the cut end.
there were no nuts in that case, the bolts went into the outer casting's threaded holes. :-)
It might surprise you to learn that bolts are usually made in standard sizes and it's not difficult to find nuts that will fit them.
