I moved here in early 90's in my late twenties, so I'm Aunty in these comments, but glad to see young black professionals moving to Charlotte. Keep coming guys! Plenty to offer here in Charlotte and I want to see the black community thrive here.
So interesting to watch this! I live in Charlotte and moved here from NYC in 2009. Charlotte is comfy, it feels safe, it's clean and offers a higher standard of living. But it is incredibly small. I'm always surprised to hear people call it a large city. And I don't mean in relation to NYC, as I understand that's a massive city. But Charlotte feels like it's 2 feet by 2 feet. You can literally see it all and do it all in less than a month. It gets super repetitive very fast. Eat, go to a brewery, repeat. Im grateful for the blessings I received here. But it's time to move on to more.
Agreed! This is NOT a large city. It's so boring here. I've always believed if you're bored, you're boring. Not here lol. Tried for 6 years. We are out!
As someone from Charlotte 🦄 I found it interesting to hear someone’s point that isn’t from here. I agree with everything you said too ❤ and girl they cannot drive here 😩😂
CONGRATULATIONS on successfully completing your first year in Charlotte! I'm glad to hear your enjoying your time there for the most part. Thanks for the insight, I definitely plan on making a trip down there in the future.
You did a good job! I am here 2 years from Minnesota. I do hate the traffic here and all traffic laws/signs etc are just a mere suggestion no one follows them and there are many car wrecks i usually see about 2-3 each day. Also when it snows the people here raid the super market and bye EVERYTHING like its the apocalypse! There are no strangers and I am 33 and LOVE the plaza midwood area lol Its a very diverse city and many restaurants from all cultures are represented. Its expensive so budget well.
Hey I’m from MN as well. Minneapolis definitely has its own culture of restaurants, music and theatre. Would you say you enjoy theses same things and in the same magnitude (or more) in Charlotte? I’m definitely more of the hippie type in Minneapolis, so looking moreso for that.
If you live near a lake you will see big roaches. I live in Gainesville Florida and when I just moved here my apartments used to be infested with little roaches I have cleaned this place so good and I keep it clean. Now I barely see any roaches I haven’t seen big roaches in the apartment. I see them near lakes

So glad to have you here, Bella! Really enjoyed this video! I moved here to Charlotte back in 2011, and it's changed a ton since then. South End was not even remotely the destination spot it is today and I-485 wasn't a complete loop. Really looking forward to all the new development here! I'm especially excited for the potential of the Iron District, the pedestrian bridge that will connect uptown and south end, the new medical school, the new main library, and the underground Charlotte transportation center!

Great observation. I relocated here August 2020 during the pandemic from Columbus, OH. It will be 3 years for me next month. It’s a great city and it’s growing. Lots of restaurants and things to do. I’m in Ballantyne in South Charlotte. However, I’m off to Tampa, FL next year. Those cockroaches, waterbugs, palmetto bugs or whatever are terrifying and I’m sure there will be no lack of them further south!
Thanks for watching 🩷 I feel like everyone is moving to Tampa lately! I pray you have a wonderful experience while living there . And girlllll I doubt the bugs will be any better in florida. The further south, the bigger they get lol
@@FinesseGuru I love Tampa! I’ve been down here for 3 months now (well 2.5 because I travel a lot). There is always something to do and the energy in Tampa & St. Pete is everything! Last summer I woke up and sat up in bed to use the bathroom. It was dark in my room but I did notice a dark spot on my thigh … it took my sleeping brain about 15 seconds to realize it was a freaking WATERBUG - I hit it off my leg and then could not find it!!!
This happened to me when I lived in Houston, but on my arm when I was sleeping. I flung it off and I heard it hit the wall and fly away. Unacceptable. Lots of roaches in Houston. I live in Austin now, mosquitoes and roaches are nothing here compared to Houston. But the heat here wants to kill us all. It's absolutely horrible. 4 months of over 105 degrees and no rain. It's uninhabitable. I pray for clouds every day. I want to get out of Texas.
I like your face and vibe immediately when I clicked. You felt familiar in a good way. Then the accent solidified it for me! I wish I knew you in real life. I feel like we would be friends somehow.
2cents - the whitewater center, carowinds, and renaissance festival are 3 super big pluses in my book. Great places to go on the regular if you enjoy socializing with randos. Drivers are really timid out here. It's not bad, but driving slow is a thing here, haha. Also, the traffic lights are pretty terrible in some parts of town. I heard the city was in the process of upgrading traffic lights but I don't know if that's actually true.
@@kristalliiite6408Hi how far up east coast are we talking? I've drove, been driven a great percentage of the east. There is an overall change in the vibe as you go along. So is Charlotte giving a Maryland, New York, D.C. vibes? I know one thing, if you're looking for Southern hospitality don't come to Connecticut. That's on every Hehe Michael Jackson made. Lol
Crazy cause I stay in VA but my mom’s side is from NC, and so I have some family in Raleigh, no family in Charlotte but I am leaning towards Charlotte. I’m scared because I’ve lived in VA all my life, I’m 29 but Its my year to step out on Faith and choose faith over fear for once in multiple life. ❤
Lmfao! They call them water bugs in Texas too! I hate them! I’m thinking of moving there or Atl, but I’m going back and forth. My parents moved to Charlotte last year. I’m wondering if it’s a good move for me.. I’m 35 and single. Would I be doomed??
Mannnn like that is not a water bug.. that is a roach! 💀🤣 and Charlotte would probably be great for you. The city is full of young professionals, I believe the average age is 30. I’d personally be afraid to date in Atlanta lol

Hey!! What area you recommend for a single mother with a child to live? Also I’m not in finance my background is medical and warehousing how’s them industries there?
Hey! I would say that any of the places I mentioned are safe to live in. Plaza midwood, myers park, and dilworth are all 10 minutes from uptown so you’ll get the city vibe without being directly in the mix. South Park is about 15-20 minutes away and is a really nice area. Anywhere in south side, uptown, or providence area is pretty safe. Areas to avoid - sugar creek, freedom drive, beatties ford, david cox, and anywhere on the west side of Charlotte. Charlotte has a ton of medical jobs. I’m not too sure about the warehouse industry but I’m sure there are jobs more outside of the city. I hope this helped! Charlotte is physically bigger but I’m referring to the size of the metro population / density which most people seem to understand. Thanks for watching ☺️
I really felt that roach comment! FINALLY! I don't feel alone. When I 1st encountered one of those giant roaches, EVERYONE tried to tell me I'd seen a waterbug. I grew up in a place that had waterbugs and cockroaches. I know the difference. These Eastern Southern cities have huge super flying cockroaches. Period.
Hi how are you? I just happen to come across your video. Next year me and my husband are also planning on moving to Charlotte from Dayton Ohio. I was just wondering it it take you a long time to get it adjusted?
Hi 👋🏾 personally it didn’t take me too long to get adjusted. The hardest part for me was waiting for the furniture i ordered to arrive. Thankfully I secured a job before moving down and i had met some friends of friends which made socializing easy for me. I plan on making more Charlotte content so definitely subscribe if you’re interested in knowing more ☺️
I appreciate the video! I graduated from Hampton 3 years ago and I’ve been working in finance in Tampa. Thinking about moving to Atlanta or Charlotte with Orlando in 3rd place. I like how Atlanta has so many of our ppl who’re successful and I hear networking is good but I don’t like the Hollywood vibe where people always want to show off. When I go out I just like to dance not stand around and try to look hard💀. With Charlotte I’d definitely move to uptown but it seems smaller. How’s are the networking and gyms?
Thank you watching 🫶🏾 Charlotte also has a very high black population. I would say flex culture definitely is not a popular thing here lol. Lots of networking opportunities since Charlotte is the second largest finance hub in America. Lots of gyms - great city overall!

I have lived here for like, 10 years and could not name half of the neighborhoods you mentioned. Ugh I'm old. Good vid!
Haha I “think” they’re newer so that’s okay. Thanks for watching 🩷
Random watch from somewhere very far away. Enjoyed it
Thank you for watching 🩷
Its pretty cool seeing someone from ohio move to north carolina because Im from ohio and currently working on moving to high point north carolina! I Good video and insight!
Thank you for watching 🫶🏾💕 Praying you have a safe and successful move!
Pretty accurate, you summed up everything pretty well!
Thank you!
Thank you for this video! I’m from Dallas, have a finance background, & am considering relocating to Charlotte. I definitely need to plan a visit to check it out 💛✨🙏🏾
Thanks for watching ✨
Great overview of Charlotte. Planning on visiting soon, and after watching your video, I feel like I know what to expect and where to go. Thank you.
You’re welcome. Glad you found this helpful
You’re making me excited about my move soon, love the video🤍🙏🏾
Aww yay. I hope you love it & have a safe move 💗
Thanks for this advice wanna move to Charlotte in the spring 🤍
Last summer I woke up and sat up in bed to use the bathroom. It was dark in my room but I did notice a dark spot on my thigh … it took my sleeping brain about 15 seconds to realize it was a freaking WATERBUG - I hit it off my leg and then could not find it!!!
I’m so sorry you experienced that 😭😭 literally terrifying!
@@BlessedByBella it was I’ve never been the same lol
This happened to me when I lived in Houston, but on my arm when I was sleeping. I flung it off and I heard it hit the wall and fly away. Unacceptable. Lots of roaches in Houston. I live in Austin now, mosquitoes and roaches are nothing here compared to Houston. But the heat here wants to kill us all. It's absolutely horrible. 4 months of over 105 degrees and no rain. It's uninhabitable. I pray for clouds every day. I want to get out of Texas.
I would pass out
I like your face and vibe immediately when I clicked. You felt familiar in a good way. Then the accent solidified it for me! I wish I knew you in real life. I feel like we would be friends somehow.
Awww that’s such a compliment, thank you 🥹 and what kind of accent do you hear?? I feel like I sound so Midwest lol
@@BlessedByBella
You do, with a slight touch of a Nigerian accent every now and then. It pops out randomly. But you sound 90% Midwestern.
I used to live in Charlotte, I miss the cost of living there in comparison to Florida.
yes i was there in 2015, it snowed so much and i enjoyed it so much
How nice! It hasn’t snowed in two years ❄️
2cents - the whitewater center, carowinds, and renaissance festival are 3 super big pluses in my book.
Thanks for sharing 🫶🏾
Girl! Thank You for this video.. I need to call somewhere else home
Considering moving here from Houston. Lived in Greensboro in 2020 and I enjoyed it, but Charlotte seems more my speed.
what’s the difference between the 2
I live in Houston now but I’m considering Charlotte. I have family there but I hear it gives east coast vibes. Idk about that, I’m a southern girl 😭
Lol
Shout-out to yellow springs!
As someone who has a 90% chance (between Charlotte or Raleigh) of moving there in the next couple month, this is helpful.
I’m so glad I could help 🤍
Crazy cause I stay in VA but my mom’s side is from NC, and so I have some family in Raleigh, no family in Charlotte but I am leaning towards Charlotte. I’m scared because I’ve lived in VA all my life, I’m 29 but Its my year to step out on Faith and choose faith over fear for once in multiple life. ❤
Oh my goodness I picked this video to learn a bit about charlotte, and to my surprise you moved from my hometown DYT!!
lol that’s so ironic 😂🤍
😮😮 OH to NC too whoa what a fun sign ❤
water bug 🤣They call em the same thing in Atlanta. Im from the midwest as well but moved to Atlanta
Lol, im convinced southerners are in denial
@@BlessedByBella 🤣 Agreed
Loved the video but it’s not 3 hrs from Jacksonville Florida. It’s over 5 hours … I’m near Jacksonville and considering Charlotte or Orlando Fl
@@Nisestory hey girl! Thanks for making that correction. Idk why i said 5, must’ve been a mistake 💓
I'm new here as well and you are spot on with the way folks drive here lol
I'm trying to move there too sis! Give me all the info lol
I love Charlotte. Im moving in May / June but Here in Ga is way more expensive 😭

Thanks for watching 🙏🏾✨
@@BlessedByBella Anytime!
Really great job with this video!
Thank you ☺️

Hope you enjoy 😭☺️
2 things.
1. Are you still in Charlotte? I just moved and I moved from Dayton (from Detroit)!
2. Thanks for this info!
Yes I am!
@@BlessedByBella yay!!
3 years in from NY!
Charlotte is actually 2.5xs the size of Atlanta lol I always find it interesting when people say it’s not as big. 🤣
Charlotte is physically bigger but I’m referring to the size of the metro population / density which most people seem to understand. Thanks for watching ☺️
OMG IM FROM CLEVELAND AND I AM PLANNING ON MOVING TO CHARLOTTE
We there? Lol
Period.
The first time I saw one I almost passed out 😭 I’m so glad someone else feels my pain lol. Thanks for watching 🫶🏾

ARE U FINDING THE ROACHES HAVE HEAVY PRESENCE IN THE UPTOWN APARTMENT COMPLEXES OR MOSTLY OUTSIDE???
Mostly outside but they can get into units which is why it’s important to check reviews and look for apartments that prioritize pest control

I had just came across this video, I’m interested in moving to Charlotte after I graduate college (I graduate in May 2025) and I wanted to do my research now so that I have a plan when I move down there (I want to pursue a career in the finance field as well but I know the job market is very competitive in Charlotte). I already know which company I want to work for in Charlotte I just have to work hard and make connections next school year
Good luck! Praying for your success wherever you land 💕
I’m from Dayton and plan on visiting for a vacation! What is a safe area would you recommend. And what activities for children or just for fun
Hi. All the areas I mentioned are pretty safe in my opinion. I would recommend the museum of illusions
@@BlessedByBella thank you for the response I have a few more questions if you don’t mind? Sorry lol
@@BlessedByBella what area do you recommend to stay at a hotel and what are some nice ones. I’m watching videos but also came across you and was excited to know you were from dayton
@@auji_diamondz5486 grand bohemian, Hyatt, and jw Marriott are all nice. Not necessarily sure what you desire for children but they’re in uptown so lots of food and museums within walking distance
This was so informative! Thank you

How is Charlotte for people with allergy/ sinus issues?
Probably not the best tbh. There’s lots of pollen
@@BlessedByBella Good to know, because right now I'm in Nashville TN and I'm struggling..
Not good
Nothing local honey couldn’t fix! I move from Tx almost 4 yrs ago. Once I started incorporating local honey in the mornings; sinuses infections:allergies ceased.
I wanna move there but I’m lowkey nervous too it’s a big city with new faces and idk if I’d make any friends not a very social person but the cost to live it’s expensive like these apartments are easily over 1k a month and my house rent is like $650 a month 😭
$650???? Where do u live 😭
Glad she break it dwn I'm starting schooling to here in fl i wait graduated 🎓 which i leave back 2010
Glad I could help ☺️

So this was a year ago. I’m moving for a job from Houston and from what I am reading it is now a renter’s market. Prices have dropped
Rent prices aren’t as competitive but I wouldn’t call it a renters market.. thanks for the update tho ☺️
I’m moving to Charlotte in 18 days 😊 I will be staying in the wilmore neighborhood. Is it safe?
I am not familiar with that neighborhood unfortunately
Aaliyah, Wilmore has changed a lot since I lived in Charlotte 20 plus years ago. It's becoming a nice area!
Are u still there ? How do you like it if so & that planning process?
