By adjusting the ride height using the lower cup/collar, you are creating a situation where you have unequal travel left-to-right. You might also be leaving some travel on the table. A man much smarter than me in suspension setup once explained it to me this way 1. Remove springs from a front and rear damper. 2. Install non-sprung assemblies and set shock body length based on max bump travel. 3. Remove assemblies, match the other side to the new body length, and reinstall springs 4. Reinstall sprung coilover assemblies and adjust ride height using spring perch/preload.
I’ve been running Fortune Auto 500 with 9k Swift Spring upgrade for a few years I have no complaints at all way better than what I was using before I hit FA.
Yup, love it! I love my Silvers Neomaxx but the FA 510's are another awesome choice for sure! No doubt if they need rebuilt it'll be nice to know it stays state side.
I'm so amazed on this car, it looks like the perfect track car! Good job Kevin, really interested in what's coming next, you could do a chill video with what you have done in the frs (parts, diy, stripped interior etc.) like you did with the gr86
My man said. Scraaaape. I refuse to support them longer than I already have. LOL. Great vid. I really need something to replace the whiteline lowering springs on the FRS.
Its fun watching your creative path for upgrades. Great to see the FRS get some love. Hard to believe the first Lincoln event is just over a month out. Midwest winters.
great video !! side note would love to see the recommendation for suspension for 80% daily 20% track on gr86. looking at te's, jdl catback, and need the suspension rec
So.. umm where to buy my Subaru parts from? Sucks because I'm sponsored by certain company/s.. but upset with some of the recent moves from them. Need to know where you are getting your parts from Kevin?
I've been thinking about flocking the dash in my FRS. I watched Smeedia do 2 of his subarus and it looked nice. Maybe you could flock you FRS' dash and make a video.
Love my gen 7 500's on the FR-S. Perfectly comfortable for a daily but also great for running autocross. I really need to try and get to a hpde event this year. Also, how do I convince them to make a set for an '04 Silverado street truck haha
It’s random but my brz has a dent on the lower right side front fender like yours, would be sick if you did a video on how to get it out without taking off the fender 😅
@@KevinVo ya it’s still a lil funky, i bought my second hand and he had his really stanced so i think he might of adjusted with preload, i didn’t know to that i should adjust it when i first got it.. lol
I would really like you to do an in depth test video on street and track usage of this 510's you installed. I know the street part is going to be a bit painful but the digressive flow tech and that release valve may make it tolerable. We lack of coilover selections when it comes to road&track usage in mainland China. The coilover I use on my ZC6 BRZ right now is the ST XTA (6-7k spring front and rear I think?). Riding quality is mediocre and on track it lacks of support. Ohlins DFV is what the only coilover that is available in mainland China that reconciliate road quality and track performance. Yet it is still more expansive than a full 510's package. My experience with a 500's on my old VA STi was great. It really makes me want to consider the option of 510's over the DFV.
It's honestly hard to compete with Ohlins. I loved them on my S2k when I had it and I was very impressed when I tested them on the GR86, but I think for the money, it's crazy how close the FA 500 series comes.
@@KevinVo Ohlins has the advantage such that it is easily in accessible in China and same case for BC. A friend's friend is developing a custom 1 way to 3 way kit that changes a BC BR into a 3 way BC BR. Maybe I'll just bear my ST for another two months and swap it to the custom 3way BC BR.
@@KevinVo What I also missed was AWE touring. I had that before on my VA STi that I used to own. It's basically a subie wet dream: loud + deep thick tone + rumble. Maybe someday when I really get sick of the HKS Hi-power spec-l that is almost on every local 86/BRZ I'll spend a fortune on the international shipping for a set of AWE touring.
Any recommendations for a coil over settings for 22 brz ? Planning to go with fortune auto 510 Just want a set up for weekend backroads and a nice daily setting.
@@KevinVo Thanks! It looks like they were recently (2021) acquired by an asset management firm Ripple Industries from Heartwood Partners. Unfortunately, since they are a private equity firm, their acquisitions are not easily identifiable.
Get the "garbage off" love it
I was going to do a whole skit, but wasn't worth the time haha
The thought of Grimmspeed being part of the same company as FTSpeed didn't cross my mind, thanks for that info!

i hope you dont get in trouble for calling the branding “trash” 😭 i love you and youre one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to building my frs
Finally removing those stickers. Need to slap on some Driven.Media stickers next.
Soon!!!!
Im just happy that u are still making videos
If you're happy I'm happy!
TIL Grimmspeed is also under that umbrella - good to know!
I know you dont have that much access to new parts anymore but I would love to see a pair of the new HKS type R hypermax series coilovers on the GR86
Let's go! When I had the 510's, they were great! Well mannered on track and can ride like a Camry on soft settings for those long road trips!
Love hearing that! Thanks for the feedback!
Does FTSpeed own FactionFab too? You’re gonna make me buy new coilovers lol.

I can do that!

Do it and you won't ever look back!!
Thank you 🙏. You are giving free knowledge. You’re make everything easy to understanding and to do. Everyone will be grateful to support you.
I love the ceremonious sticker removal. 👍
I have fortune autos too love them had them on for about 20k
Shots fired 🔥!
Love it
In all my years of ricing my scion TC it never occured to me to use pool noodles, this would have looked so sick back in college.
Yeah, I should just keep them in and drive around like that haha
Would love to see you slap on some CSG Spec coilovers on the GR. Maybe a full review too when the weather allows for it
Its fun watching your creative path for upgrades. Great to see the FRS get some love. Hard to believe the first Lincoln event is just over a month out. Midwest winters.
One of my favorite videos. Get the “garbage off” 😂
You could put a louver kit on. Or a vortex generator. Other than that theres wider tires
Nice mang! I have my eyes set on FA 500's for street/occasional auto x/track days. Looking forward to see how they perform for you👍🏼
Great video as always!
Must be awesome to own both gens looks so good, & nice to fortune coil setup
I am very fortunate and I love them both!
That's a good setup right there!
great video !! side note would love to see the recommendation for suspension for 80% daily 20% track on gr86. looking at te's, jdl catback, and need the suspension rec
I'd suggest you look at their 500 series!
I got the Factionfab coil because of you… now i guess im getting Fortune Auto because of you lol
Someone get Kevin hooked up with a custom car cover company!!!😂
Babe wake up new Kevin vo upload

Dude you are crushing these videos, any better than with subiespeed, factionfab. Keep it up!

Sorry!!!!! hahaha
Hey Kevin love the build and vid! I was wondering where else can I get 86 parts because I too do not want to support lol

I have no experience in bodywork whatsoever haha it would result in some hammering with a rubber mallet from me.
that intro made me so fucking glad i live in florida
LESSGOOOO another vid
what company owns grimmspeed/rallysportdirect/subispeed etc. Looks like theyre separate owners.

This really helps a lot!! I am going to adjust my coil soon, how much did you adjust your preload by, I have mine but its been a lil rough.

Honestly with no bias, this setup or Ohlins?
For a track setup, I'd go with these because of how modular they are. If it's purely a street car than the Ohlins are hard to beat.

I recommend starting in the middle of the damping adjustment and making adjustments from there.
Ayyy 💪🏻

Question. Why no rear bbk?
It's really not necessary as these cars are light.
@@KevinVo very true we do have light cars. I have endless bbk and i do notice a lot of dust in the rears so must be working well right 😂
Forced induction time?
NA for my class. Maybe on the gr86 haha

Easily gained 15 hp from removing that trash
I hope your intro was staged and the car doesn’t stay out like that
It's not staged. If I'm utilizing the garage for a video on one of the cars, the other car has to stay outside unfortunately.
Its a car not a dog!!! It can stay outside
its a track car a little snow isn't gonna hurt it
I daily in that outside what’s the problem
I’m more worried someone might try and steal the car or parts from it.
