I vote supercharged to start with, for sure. There are some really cool and wicked options that people have done/ figured out over the years. Plus it would be different, and a fun car for you guys to mob around in, drift, daily, whatever... Thanks for the great video/ content, as always...
I agree. If they do decide to turbo it though, they should go for a small one that lights up really quick, and make this car a fun little drift/autocross/daily car.
Kyle that factory strut brace does a lot for stiffening. You can tighten it on the ground then loosen it on the lift and it will shift. You should fab something up using those mounts. Love what you and Wyatt do. Keep up the great videos 👍🏻
+1. if a cheap car comes with strut tower braces, you best believe they are damn near necessary - otherwise they would have gotten cut out of the final design to decrease costs.

This is my favorite build you've done boys. Would love to see you S/C it. Had a buddy growing up who had a JR supercharged D16 in his EG, and it sounded just nuts. Amazing to see how much you've leveled up since your first vids. I respect that you started out doing everything bang for the buck, learning as you go, and making it work with what you had. Now, even though the cars, parts, skills, and budgets have gone way up since the ol days, you guys always have kept that humble "you can do this at home" vibe. Stoked for the crew. This build is gonna be unreal.

Had some two Scion tC's and a xB loved them both it made me sad somebody else like them so much they had to him me in them. They were great car and fast. I would like to build a frs k swap. Looks like there is room for a supercharged version. 400 rwhp supercharged k would be great on the roads. It would be mild and not to crazy and dependable.

Header is $1k, custom cast intake is $1k, clutch setup with custom flywheel is $1k, engine/trans mounts are x-amount, stand-alone ecm is $1k, CNC cut trans adapter is close to $1k, drive shaft is a few hundred, etc. Etc. You've also got to think this isn't for every BRZ that's getting modded, it's just for some of the ones that are getting a K-swap, where people want to buy the kit. I'd be surprised if they sell more than 50-60 of these kits in the next 5 years, so you're amortizing your R&D over not very many units. You also don't have much in the way of economies of scale in that many parts.
Beautiful parts, made in USA, Tons of development.... You can't be shocked when it isn't Alibaba cheap . Once swapped, at least you get reliable cheap engines !

I'm a big Honda and Toyota fan. And when I first saw the 86 I was all like "hellz yeahz" until I found out it was getting a N/A Subaru boxer 4. Then I was like "damn that things gonna be a very stylish paper weight". We all know how reliable those Subarus are for building power. They are massive pieces oh shat. Other than an aluminum small block V8 the K swap is about the best thing for that little car. Awesome job. I want one now.
The FA series engine used in the BRZ/FRS/86 is actually reliable and can handle power better (when built to similar specs) unlike the EJ series which is known to be unreliable

Both have pros and cons in both applications You can make over 500hp out of a stock engine supercharged k series same as turbo k series. The supercharged engine will make power from idle right trough the rev range. Turbo will only start making power till its on full boost at around 5k.
i know they are called the "boosted" Bois but i would really like to see these guys build a rev happy n/a k series with itbs and put it in something tiny.
Hey Kyle, it's awesome that you're already K-swapping the FR-S. Just wanted to give you a heads up that if you decide to go the forced induction route with the K-swap the Aisin trans in these FR-S don't take kindly to torque. Anything over 300 ft-lbs of torque will probably grenade these as they are not very strong, so you might have to look into alternatives for a trans down the line. Much love and as an FR-S owner myself its awesome to see you do the swap I always wanted to do!

Just a tip from a fellow FRS owner If it doesn't have it already done I'd recommend doing a full suspension upgrade otherwise you'll pay for it down the road cause with the FRS being lowered it'll throw off the geometry of the suspension causing the axles to brake and wheel bearing to wear out prematurely. I'd also recommend getting some pbm diff and subframe riser kit and a bump steer correction kit which will help bring the suspension geometry close to stock if you plan on keeping it lowered more then an inch from stock ride height

What do you need to do paperwork wise to allow this car to ve legally driven on the rds in the usa, here in the uk it needs to be took to a government inspection company to be given the ok
k24 starter fits, just carve out the adapter a little bit, its way more powerful than k20 too. Also dropping the sway bar mounts makes getting the engine in WAY easier.
Dont worry about people we support you for content so many viewers have one single unfinished car project and end up selling them unfinished you have multiple working cars and it has give content while waiting for parts it is a very nice car I would say supercharge it you have so many turbos great swap and even flipping or stacking as able to sell you are making great moves
Kyle u should start a shop and build this kind of things for other people because with ur knowledge I assure u will get very far 💪🏼🔥🔥 and i vote u should do a supercharger on the k frs

The factory computer cuts off the compressor off when nessasery. Only applys to factory ecu's

They aren't as reliable as you would think. A lot more vibrations and lots of issues throwing belts. Would be cool still.
If the belt tensioner was replaced with a new one and right size belt, the belt would not fly off.

Pro charger is a supercharger. Procharger is just a brand that makes centrifugal superchargers

Turbos are better agreed!! Turbos are free power n can produce a lot more power then a supercharged on a small engine like the K

I have a Kpower industries kit also. Make sure you put a flex joint in the exhaust. Prone to cracking the header at the 3 bolt flange

k24 starter fits, just carve out the adapter a little bit, its way more powerful than k20 too. Also dropping the sway bar mounts makes getting the engine in WAY easier.

Dont worry about people we support you for content so many viewers have one single unfinished car project and end up selling them unfinished you have multiple working cars and it has give content while waiting for parts it is a very nice car I would say supercharge it you have so many turbos great swap and even flipping or stacking as able to sell you are making great moves
