    Stopped caring
I worked for a nursing home that also had a rehabilitation unit. When I applied I started in long term care and was told the next open rehab position would be mine. 2 weeks into employment I got in a car accident and had to miss 2 days because I hurt my shoulder. The next week they hired another girl for the rehab unit. Weeks later they asked if I was going to continue showing up. That made me feel very replaceable I stayed for 4 months and no called no showed. Nobody called me until I came for my last check and the boss was like "oh by the way, you don't have a job" I smiled and told her "I know because I have a better one a few miles away" never went back

$4 in general is a rip off. You'd just be working just to buy petrol to get to work. You'd need a 2nd job for food, power and rent.

I never donate when asked to do so at a checkout. My refusal has less to do with any lack of confidence that the money collected ever makes its way to the charity in question. It is entirely because the retailer makes the donation and gets a nice tax credit for it, when their customers donated the funds. Corporations already have too many ways to save on taxes. I donate generously to my favourite charities though.

I was an overnight valet security for a high end hotel. 1st shift comes in from 7AM to 4PM. Well I'm walking in to turn in my valet box key to security and MG is standing there saying that 1st shift guy called in and that id need to stay to cover his shift after working since 11PM the night before.
I worked from 11PM to 4PM and then they wanted me to come back at 11PM giving 5 hours to myself after getting off a 17 hour shift.
I did not show up for my shift nor give them the courtesy of notifying them of my resignation. Visited a bar in the hotel less than a year later and they no longer offer valet parking and the valet lot is now paid self parking.

If your grocery store or fast food place asks you to donate, doesn't matter if its rounding up $.02 to the nearest dollar or $50 to get double platinum mushroom with your picture, it's a tax right off for the business! Sometimes the company gets other kickbacks like advertising publicity or thank you dinners...sometimes more like kickbacks and more shady things. Nonprofits tend to pick businesses were idealistic, sensitive, beautiful, young women work because of the fear many people have of disappointing them. Classy

I was working over night at a gas station the manager refused to give me a emergency contact number for him and refused to leave keys to lock the doors if neccessary to leave so one night while taking out the trash I got attacked by a raccoon I managed to kill it but had to get to a hospital right away but had no way to reach the owner so I pressed the panic button and answered the phone told the security company what happened and I have to leave and to call the owner they did and they called an ambulance and police showed up too police wouldmt let anyone in the store till the owner showed up 1.5 hours later he was billed 650 dollars total for the ambulance the security response and the police non emergency presence luckily an autopsy on the raccon proved no rabies so I didn't need the 7 shots in the belly and needed like 12 stitches but the owner tried to make me pay the 650 off my check I laughed toke him to the labour board and got awarded 6 months in wages ... funny how a simple key and 20 dollars for taxis would have saved him all of that nonsense ...

i worked at panera for not even 3 months before i put in my two weeks. i had a week left on schedule, i was working a shift and halfway through got really sick. i went into the bathroom and vomited, and on that day i went to my manager. she told me i couldn’t go home. it was not long before closing, i had already gotten a lot of my tasks done, and one of my coworkers offered to do the last few tasks for me since her load was pretty light. i had worked 14 hours total that day, because i had worked my other job that morning too. they made me continue handling food for the next 30 minutes, despite having just vomited. like yeah okay cool panera you have fun staying open breaking health code standards like that

Ever have a co-worker who just hangs on your ear? Had one who would rope you in and then talk incessantly about his would-be success stories with the chicks. He had a real hang-up. Everyone just started avoiding him. He kept at it. Wasn't very good-looking, and when he smiled, it actually reminded you of a possum. So "Possum" became his nickname behind his back. Finally, one of the guys there made a vanity plate that said "Eat More Possum" and secretly attached it to the front of the weird guy's chick-magnet Mustang. Took about a week before the day came that he walked in the front door and the look on his face said everything. It did put an end to the annoying monologues about his fake "Don Juan" lifestyle.

Towards the end with the ice cream lady who's daughter "dropped her ice cream"
I used to work at Subway years ago, late one night close to closing time a woman and two girls comes in, they order, sit down and eat. My coworker and I go about our night as normal until one of the girls approaches the counter. She tells us how our mayo must be bad or something because she doesn't feel good after eating a sandwich with it. We just chalk it up to something else that was wrong with her because no one had complained about the mayo all day, but rather than argue with her about it we just rang her up a refund and they left. As I picked up the remaining part of her six inch she had "returned" to us my hand completely closed on the empty bag smashing it flat and squishing the small rounded heel of the sandwich that was still inside. My coworker then facepalmed as he said "We're idiots, they used a buy one get one and the woman didn't get anything".
In summary: Woman and two girls used a BOGO coupon and a lame excuse to get free dinner at Subway because my coworker and I were idiots.

Worked at a movie theater while taking classes. The theater was on the path i took home so id stop bye to say hi to who ever was working in ticket box, because i knew that on tuesday and thursday midday the theater would be slow and box is boring af. Had a manager run out of the office to talk down to me saying if i wanted to see a movie id have to call exactly an hour in advanced (while I'd still be in class). Later i tried to get sunday off, since i also worked friday and saturday, and was denied since all employees had to work atleast one weekend day. Couldnt get anyone to cover my shift for my mothers birthday after the managers "forgot" to put the day off in the system and since i deleted the confirmation email they claimed i lied about getting it. Final straw was when i was about to go on a 2 week trip with my dad and they tried to say i never put in a request and if i wanted the time off id have to find people to cover it myself or Id get fired. I forwarded the confirmation email back to them with a follow up saying i was putting in my 2 weeks. When i started id gladly pickup any shift they needed and stay late on openning weekends, by the time i left, unless it was for specific people, i had a reason not to pick up shifts and id leave exactly when my time was up.

One of my first jobs after high school was as receptionist at a textile dyeing factory. There phone had 3 hold positions, and 10 lines coming in. People would call, I would transfer the call, and the person who should've answered the phone didn't. So the call would come back to me and just kept ringing until I could get to them and take a message. I was so happy that I was fired.

    I have a few.
    1. When I worked as a sheet metal apprentice, we were putting up new ducting in the VA Hospital I was actually a patient at (I'm a Veteran). I wasn't particularly great at it because it was entirely new to me but I gave it my best. The foreman who had done sheet metal for like 20+ years was a sicko. I'm a 28 year old grown man and this dude feels it necessary to make raunchy jokes and slap me on the ass. I didn't take kindly to that. That happened a couple times and the other journeyman I worked with would routinely make a lot of remarks about this or that was "worthless". One evening we're putting a piece of ducting together that had to be cut and reshaped to fit in the spot where it was going. This was the day after Veteran's day and I was telling him some of the freebies I had gotten. He then proceeds to tell me that Vets are welfare cases. (this from a man that had spent time in jail). I finished the part of the ducting I was doing and he had a hard time. The foreman thought it was funny to have me to tell him "to hurry up, fucker" he said if I had said that i was going to be punched in the face. I grabbed the few tools i brought with me and left. The next day I called that company to file a complaint about those two for physical and sexual harassment.
    2. I worked at a private prison as a CO. It had everything ranging from druggies to murderers. Strangely enough two of the guys that were there for murder (both had gang affiliations) were two of the most chill dudes I ever interacted with. While I was there I went into work feeling fine, and then all of a sudden in the housing pod of a bunch of gang bangers (i was supposed to be in my housing unit of druggies) i started to dry heave and puke all over the grass outside. The inmate that was out of his cell because in that unit no one gave a fuck, was just chilling there. He saw me looking sick and I went to a few higher ups in the prison and then was called to see the warden. I gave up my collateral coins to be able to sign out a radio, keys, cuffs, etc. So I didn't get my coins to sign out stuff and then went to the VA Hospital to take a ccp virus test. When it came back negative, I went into work and they lost the coins I needed to sign out stuff (cuffs, spray, radio) so I didn't have anything with me. I was in my usual pod of junkies who asked where i was because I interacted with a lot of them. Then like 2 or 3 hours later I was called to go to a gang banger unit. From the unit i was in i had to turn left and go through the series of gates. I turned right, and it felt like forever as I went through gate to gate to leave. I walked out, never said a word and just drove home. No one called me as I was driving the like an hour and a half home.

Not sure if this qualifies. A student in my welding school that was a couple classes behind me decided to give a teacher crap. There are 50 booths all with their own/ different machines setup by each student. Teacher stepped into a random booth to give his class a demo, didn't check the machine and had to adjust it mid weld. Kid took it as his chance to yell, can we get a teacher who knows what he is doing over here? Little did he know the teacher graduated from the school with multiple dean's list awards and is working in the aerospace industry. 10 years after graduating he wanted to pass on what he has learned while keeping both jobs. Looked at the student and flat out told him I make over 220k a year at 1 of my 2 jobs, I don't need anything from you, you are here to learn. Student got real quite really quick. Couldn't believe a student tried that

The KFC story ... last week we tried entering our local Burger King restaurant - only the front door was closed. A paper was taped on the glass .. "Due to technical problems only the drive in window will be serviced". So we walked around, got our orders and then asked what "technical" reasons there were .. and the girl stepped aside to let us see that she was the only one in the front - and one other who was working the friers and burger wrap station.. "Yeah, as you can see we're just 2 and its already difficult to serve only the drive in window alone..." At least they allowed us to eat on their open air seats ...

37:44 You probably wouldn't understand why people get jobs like that to tide them over, but I'd imagine they'd have money saved up from their previous job (since they formerly had a good job) so that the two weeks til payday wouldn't really matter. Also, it's not like when you get hired, it's always two weeks from payday...

I worked for a cleaning company with a crew of other cleaners n they didn’t want you to clean very good because as they explained it to me… if the peoples home was extra clean they would cancel the appointment in the following two weeks as it was the routine. But they were real assholes to work with and it was kind a messed up it’s like I was required to do a good job and yeah I am real OCD about someone coming behind me and saying I missed a spot and I like to generally do a good job and OK I guess there’s a bit of competitiveness because they did such a crappy job it was hard for me to have respect for them and I’m just not gonna do something half assed I’m not gonna not autograph my work with excellence. I guess I enjoy cleaning. I can take a funky looking toilet and use a pumice stone, and have that thing looking amazing. I’ll give me some buildup of whatever that stuff is calcium I guess wherever water has been sitting in the bottom of somebody shower and a pumice stone... talk about satisfying. Anyway after working there for a while and they were getting sick of me for cleaning so good I think they tried to run me off and the owner of the company put me with these witches, and rode my ass. I think this is the first job I’ve ever quit. Yeah so basically they didn’t like it that I cleaned good but that was what we were hired to do.

Epic fail for the supermarket I worked for cause of an idiot from new management. I was there for 13 years started when I was 16. My contract was ending & when it came time for my yearly meeting about renewing it in April of 2019. I asked for 3 dollars pay increases. 15 to 18hourly.
Jackass thought it was too much. I was offered a dollar increase instead I said no to that offer that when he said they weren’t gonna renew my contract.
    Here’s were he messed up.
Since he was new and didn’t know what I did for the store he thought I could be easily replaced. He was dead wrong. In the 13 years I worked there. I had made myself a main gear in everything. I was consider to be 4 workers in one.
I was a stock boy, cashier, produce, bakery, deli, butcher shop, and maintenance worker also I was the main technician guy whenever the tills/debit/ATM or computer when down. I was the one who could fix that stuff without having to call someone from the company come in. (Saved that place a lot of money by the miracles I did)
Also I was one of two guys that worked there and did all the heavy lifting (75+ pounds) and the tallest worker 5’10 while everyone else was under 5’7. The rest were women. The other guy was retiring at the end of the summer season.
Another thing I was the emergency on call worker whenever someone called in sick or anything came up.
    Long story short
They need to hire 3 other people to take over the work I did and now they constantly have to call in maintenance/technician guys to fix the things I maintained.
Now the place is on the verge of closing. All cause new management didn’t want to pay me the extra 3 bucks.
    One more thing
I was the one worker that was trained in medical care ie CPR/first aid
A month after I was let go one of my coworker ended up chocking and passing out. She’s okay now but no one didn’t know what to do at the time. Got lucky I was shopping there at the time.

for stopped caring, I worked at little ceasers and despite being there for only 1 year, I was probably the most senior member of the restaurant as turnover was so high. I did any job asked of me and did it pretty well, cutting dough making bread, pizzas, phone, sauces, dishes. Basically everything short of manager. Then I began to notice that my hours were slowly disappearing while everyone else got more and more. My brother also worked there and was complaining of having too many hours, but I was eventually placed at like 7 hours per week.
One day I asked my manager "Hi, I noticed recently that my hours have been dropping, is there anyway I could get a few more?" She kinda brushes me off and then a couple hours later I get cornered by that manager and another manager being like "You made manager 1 cry by how you acted. If we give you hours then we'd have to cut everyone else!"
After that I just shut my mouth and moved at whatever pace I wanted to before I left for college a few months later.
the turnover at that place was so high that once I went back there a few months after I left for some food and I didn't recognize a single person there

The computer store I use, have bought 3 complete computer systems from, and who will generally always get my business first are the exact opposite of this. They really know their stuff, know how to explain it in simple terms, and never push unnecessary products on people.
I was in store one day waiting on a repair and watched as a confused old man came in looking for a part. They kindly explained why the part he had wouldn't help him, and explained what questions to ask his son when he went back home, so he could get the right part next time. I made a point of adding that story to their online review in Google. I always make an extra effort to support companies with great business practices.

During first surge of Covid19 our gov release a special emergency benefits for employees in small businesses. The benefits is double the amount of my salary which could help me pay for rent and food for 4mos since we got 0 operation for several months but accounting from main branch sucks and they didn't process properly and follow up our documents with the appropriate gov dept so we can receive the benefits. All of my roommates and other employees got theirs except us three in our office.
I quit after a month cause we are blamed by boss for not asking for an update regarding it, it was actually the job of the accounting and HR as per announced by the gov spoke person and in the end they fired my other colleagues so I was the only one left in the office expecting to do the job of other 3 people which I barely can't take for so long since I already absorbed another person's task on my plate. Sucks and I have no regret, I can't go to work anymore without feeling nauseous and vomiting on my way to the office every morning.

I just didn't return to the back booth of an understaffed McDonald's during a rush, so they didn't have someone watching lobby which slowed the lobby to a grinding halt. I was sick of unpaid overtime and not even being allowed a small water during the hottest days of the year in the hottest part of the store. I was a great employee and didn't really hate my job, I was just overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated.

I worked for this pizza place and loved every minute of it. However, the owner was a drunkard and narcissistic asshole. I was running the line and doing all the prep by myself. But apparently I wasn't working to his standards. So while he and I exchanged arguments, I promptly said "Fuck you, I quit". Following my leave, 4 others proceeded to walk out during that week. Now working as a cook in a hospital and making more money, plus benefits. 10/10 would do again.

Why should that prevent you from getting a job you actually like instead of just the highest best paid position you qualify for?

Was in one job where a middle aged person basically stirred about everyone and anyone to the manager in order to get the other employees hours as employees would quit because of the nastiness from the manager who thought everyone was talking smack about him (they were a bit but nothing that was uncalled for as he was quite nasty, though I think the middle-aged colleague, who also talked smack if not incited it, made this worse.) They got their hours only for the entire shop to close down, leaving them jobless 🤣 I, however, left just before this happened.

At 21 I left the British army, and got a job at a builder's merchant. I quickly became the foreman, then transport manager. I was about 22 when we had a security guard join us and he had to report to me. He was about 50 and just got out of the guards; Coldstream I think. He'd been a Regimental Sergeant Major...Warrant Officer class 1. These ppl are God's in the army. So here I am at 22 and this man's immediate boss, I felt so guilty. Made me sad to think such ppl are God's in the forces but nothing in civvy street. What a culture shock, for him, it must of been.
I lost a lot of respect for the army and our government because of how ex service personnel are treated/discarded upon release. I hope things are better now.

Had a co-worker in IT who scheduled downloads of porn for slack time overnight at a state government agency. Of course the state government agency in charge of networking noticed the strange activity outside of normal work hours and take a closer look at it. Co-worker gets fired.
One of my wife's employees has been warned repeatedly about making off-color jokes to one of his co-workers. Then he does it again. Although he's a good guy and a good worker, she has no choice but to let him go.
Another of her employees has been "borrowing" expensive computer books (it's a bookstore, and allowed), but instead of returning them, goes to another branch store and returns them. For cash. She somehow doesn't last, either.

Those call center ones sure do sound like a job offer I turned down in March '21. Now, the company is legit (They did indeed secure the contract to operate as the customer service hotline for one of our big 2 phone/internet companies) but when I see that:
    1. The CEO,HR head, Head of IT and CFO were all recently resigned from said company
    2. After almost a year of prep, the office (which I got sight of in the conference Zoom call that operated as the first leg of orientation) was still plastic chairs and folding tables. I've also been to that physical address and know their upper floor businesses light up and go out like birthday candles.
    3. There were repeated questions as to whether I had and was able to bring a laptop to work (I was OK with them checking the specs on my gaming PC because I might have been able to work from home and save a lot in traveling costs/food)
I just listened in on the Zoom call and decided I rather look for something else.
3 weeks later and the phone company itself is being audited and it's the Accounting, HR and IT sections being audited and some of the same names were in the press. A lot of potential staff from that Zoom call began looking for work a lot earlier than the end of that initial 6 month contract from what I hear.
I begged my parents to change our phone company.

He didn't necessarily visit all those sites. The sites that he did visit could have just put ads on their pages for other sites, and forensics would list them as "sites visited". Found this out when a co-worker was fired. All he was doing was reading erotica, but the sites he was on put up ads that made it look like he was visiting the advertisers.

Kitchen Manger and the guy I was working with didn't like each other and always butted heads. One Sunday the KM had off and me and the other cook were working like normal when the KM comes in and says some dumb thing to my coworker. Couple minutes later my co worker goes to grab something out the walk in comes back and says he's leaving that the KM is being an asshole and just staring shit unnecessary. KM comes into the kitchen after he makes the guy leave and ask if I'll be ok to work by my self for the next 3 and a half hours till the night guy came in at 6. Just said ok he left and I walked out about 10 minutes later as the tickets started coming in like crazy. Took them about 30-45 minutes to call me/ realize I was gone.
