    I like to make it with kefir. Typically plain kefir but sometimes I use the flavored. The fruit and berries that I use add the flavor and sweetness. I use a two-to-one ratio for liquid to solid. It comes out beautifully.

    Highly recommended! Oats are one of the healthiest grains, 17 grams of protein per 100 gram serving. Environmentally friendly as they require minimal fertilizers and pesticides during cultivation. They also can grow in marginal crop production areas.
    I prefer almond milk for the added minerals, and any locally available in season fruit. Try making a larger fruit salad and using the overnight oats on top, using grated apple and cinnamon powder as a garnish.
    Thank you for this video, well done, by a happy person in a clean kitchen.

    I prefer my oats very thick so I literally just blend a banana and add some yogurt and then add my oats. I do different variations such as adding some berries or cocoa powder. Sometimes my banana is really brown and liquidy and it is enough to make my oats mushy and thick which is just what I love. I also really like blending a mango to a pulp and soaking my oats in that. And just like you said, the sky is the limit. I’ve even made orchata flavored overnight oats

    Nice lady, great energy. However, she forgot the most important part - cooking the oats! Trust me, your GI will thank you later! Kidding aside, definitely DO soak oats to cut down cooking on time the next morning. This has been done with grains in most cultures since recorded history with items like rice, teff, quinoa etc. Also raw foods have rarely been eaten due to toxicity and pathogen risks. Opt for quality jams, jellies and marmalades on toast if you like fruit. You get more phytonutrient benefit with less digestive effort and greater pleasure overall. I believe we can all benefit by paying attention to the ORIGIN of things in gastronomy and tradition although new age stuff is always nice for a chuckle :)

    I made it with yogurt, dark chocolate, peanut butter and soya milk(since plant based milk last longer than diary milk). I only have quick cooking oats tho, but still taste okay even though it looks lika a mushy slimmy creatures. Love it!

      @@sanamluximon540 same, rolled oats are not popular for daily consumption and dubbed as healthier maybe thats why its doubled the price from quick oats 😅

    does milk break down the phytic acid? I heard you have to use lemon juice and water over night to do this, otherwise you may block mineral uptake and for example have low iron absorption and become anemic.

    • @Greenhealthycooking
      @Greenhealthycooking  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you read the newest studies on phytic acid you'll find out that it's not really relevant in a overall real food healthy diet. I used to go down that rabbit hole and I believe it causes orthorexia. Mineral absorption might be blocked a little right when eating (when they performed the tests) but observed over a week's span it has no negative effect on mineral absorption. My son eats overnight oats 365 days a year and his bloodwork shows excellent results for all minerals and vitamins.

    Can you put all the ingredients in together and leave it overnight with all the fruits and stuff in it or does it really have to be added in the next day?

    • @Greenhealthycooking
      @Greenhealthycooking  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the toppings. If you just add nuts and seeds and fruit that does well once peeled or cut such as mango and pineapple you can add it overnight. For banana, apple, pear, berries I don't recommend it because they brown or ferment and don't taste good after a night in the fridge.

  • @shaunguffey9199

    Do overnight refrigerated oats have to be in a closed container? Can it be done in a open bowl in water?

    • @Greenhealthycooking
      @Greenhealthycooking  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd say that depends mostly on how clean your fridge is and what other things are in there. If you put a cut open onion right next to the open bowl your overnight oats might smell a bit like onion the next day ;)
