I Like Big Builds And I Cannot Lie | The Constructors (Building Designer & Building Sim - Demo)

- The Constructors puts us in charge of a building company, which I'm entirely unqualified for but there we go, and we go building! We're not talking decorating individual rooms here, we're designing and building huge buildings with many floors and rooms.
We start with what the game calls a small plot but it looks pretty big to me. We do some blueprinting to design a building that fits into the space so of course we design a building with a completely sensible shape...
With the plans made we then get building! We set up a little builders yard, complete with portable toilets, and then order our builders to get to work. They use a digger thing to dig out the foundations, trucks deliver materials and then there's the cement mixing/pouring lorry, which unwittingly becomes the star of the video for reasons I won't go into here but it's brilliant.
Our workers weld and plaster and paint and then we get to decorate the outside of our building with some lovely flowers and benches and suchlike.
NOTE: This is the demo version of the game.

As someone who’s worked in construction management, this game is impressively accurate! Even down to the personnel micromanaging 😅 I just don’t know if I’d like to get home from work and just work some more 😂
It's not that weird. I'm a truck driver in real life and will sometimes play american truck simulator.
It's ok, i am a farmer, and love to play farming simulator
Same here. Once I bought a construction sim, and after a couple of hours it just made me feeling misserable..
(Also this concrete truck/pump is a joke for a ton of reasons....)
Children were banned from working in mines in (roughly about) 1830. Less than 200 years later, most popular game among children is Minecraft. If you love your work, embrace it even in your free time.
@@StarlasAiko if you love a work, then it's not a work. It's called a "hobby". Nobody likes to work.. Period.
That was so funny 😂 Was laughing so much watching the cement truck.
That cement truck would be solid if it stayed there that long…
Rebar is short for reinforcing bar, and it is lengths of rolled steel used as a framework to add tensile strength to concrete. It is used because concrete is strong under compression but weak under tension (basically it can withstand a lot of weight pressing on it, but it can be snapped or cracked fairly easily).
They could add an "instant build" option. It was interesting to see how houses are built in detail in a game, but once was enough for my curiosity
100% agree they need to automate the building and get rid of the pointless clicking. And instead focus on the blueprinting and customization aspects.
Things like 360 placement of items, planning the interior of each apartment and allowing you to choose paints etc would be a lot better use of the gamers time. Letting you choose quality of building materials would also be cool.
There was a game like this years ago. I used to love it hope this lives up to it.
Hexagons ARE the Bestagons!!!!
cant wait for this game
Hopefully it's a little more stable than the version we played!
That truck makes me think you should do some sort of racing manager game and watch cars go around.
Note to self; don't hire Penge to build my house.
The cement truck's orbit precessing is the funniest part of this game.
What the Dickens are you trying to make?
Is it a ship?
"Do you want to be an architect?"
Thinking back to Penge trying to build the school in Mind Over Magic... oh dear.
Thank you for a good video!
As someone who is in school for construction management this game is very intriguing
looks good, but they need some collision detection between trucks/workers.
What about the person driving that cement truck? Remember someone has to be in there, having the time of their life.
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not so sure about that... ever had the misfortune of going round and round on a carousel for far too long? Or spinning around on the floor? 🤮
A normal 2 bedroom apartment in germany is on average 55 to 60m2
His penthouse "appartments" are more like luxurious suites the size of a 4 room house. 😂
Now I know why it takes workers so long to get work done… they keep having to select them again 😂😂
Quite a lot of silliness here, most of it involving that cement truck, but I don't think it was intended from the devs.
I agree with you, it's simply too rough around the edges at the current stage, but I guess that's the entire purpose of these early demos, to test ideas and hopefully get some good input from players on where to improve.
Personally I would definitely say that the zoom level needs to be improved. This is a game about designing stuff, so it's important to be able to get a good view of the designs... plus it also improves immersion a lot.
Regarding having to click the workers during construction, I see your point, but what's the alternative? No user input at all during construction? Wouldn't that be boring? And after all it's called "The Constructors", so the construction stage is probably intended to be the core.
Then have it be from the perspective of resources management, assigning jobs to workers, choosing how many people and machines you want on each task rather than make it a sequential thing of -select all -tell them to do the task -wait while it happens -repeat, which is boring and needlessly tedious when you could instead designate 1 worker to drive the cement truck, 5 to lay rebar, 2 to weld it, 3 to do formwork and have it be done with no user input whenever a task requires it, leaving you to adjust how many people do a task to speed it up or save money.
I certainly hope this is not nearing release as there appear to be many bugs and UI issues with the game. The tutorial and localization seems to need some major reworking as well. It does look promising so far, but hope it gets the work it needs before release.
If the laborers dont leave at 12pm on a friday its not a sim 😂
Our 2 bedroom is "big" by apartment standards here at 974 sq ft. (90.5 m2). Most in the building are 700 or less sq. ft. (65 m2). Definitely luxury apartments in the top floor of that building... penthouses even!
I'm in a ~25m² one room + bathroom apartment myself, I don't even know what I'd do with 3 times that, I like my cozy little place.
@@Soken50 I'd have a hard time in a place that small. To each his/her own for sure. 🥰
@@2CraftySeniors Absolutely, to each their own, I prefer compact spaces with every corner put to use rather than big empty spaces but I understand some people prefer wide open rooms and would think of my apartment as a big cluttered mess ^^'
Hey Mate. Its a pretty funny - You are playing the demo cersion of this game and i try to see on steam have the demo - but no have can it ve that you can play the demo and i don´t... I love this game and i can´t wait till its coming out. I love the detail in this game.
It was available during Steam Next Fest, so demo was available February 5-12 and after the 12th it was no longer available.
Can he build it? Well, he tried.😂
I think you shold have designated each worker to do a specific task
Me too 😏
Shame it was not like Construction simulator but with design added
omggg this guy is soo boring trying to make jokes
If it's amazing high quality jokes you're after you should check out the start to the Inn Tycoon video, you'll love that one.
Thank u
