- It is finally time to reveal my new and improved Porsche Cayman 987.1 S 3.4 with a sports exhaust fitted. Not only is this exhaust designed to improve sound and power but it also a valved system designed to be easy to live with. I have fitted the Topgear valved exhaust to my cayman and in this video I will share what it sounds like and if I have ruined the car?

Well done getting the new exhaust sounds great 👌i have the spyder valved system on my 997 that also is open by default on start up which is annoying and wondered if it had been wired up wrong 🤔

I have the same exhaust on my 3.7 rebuilt cayman s with top gear 200cell manifolds and it makes it even louder but couldn’t live with it day to day but as a weekend car it’s spot on
Finally get to see a mod video of the cayman. Sounds so much better now and still oem sounding not chavy aftermarket youd spot easily with other exhausts on a hatchback. If i had a 987 id get the exhaust done along with getting the turbo alloys and front led spars
Really pleased for you Joe, lovely sound, very envious i have to suffer the OPF on mine. One aesthetic thing i always think is worth it is to swap out the body coloured side vents for silver to match the wheels. It’s totally a personal thing but i think it would really lift the profile of your car

May I also suggest you upgrade your steering wheel. I just upgraded my triangle wheel from my 997 to the sport wheel. Not only does it really modernize the interior it just feels so much better than the stock. Well worth it.

Hi Joe really nice sounding exhaust there. Upgraded my cayman from the 987.1 to the 987.2 and was thinking of fitting a new top gear valved exhaust. do you get any drone noise from the top gear exhaust at all ? i still have my gen1 cayman which is exactly the same as yours and i will be selling it as soon as i fit new brake discs and pads and get a new MOT on her but i fiited a cheap ebay exhaust to it and ended up taking it off becuase of the droning noise coming from it, it was really annoying.

The valves are open because you don’t have the vacuum canister fitted.
I fitted the vacuum canister to mine and it does keep a vacuum for a period of time.
I also fitted an Armytrix OBD dongle and the exhaust switches automatically at 3000 rpm
I actually found the Topgear system too loud and ended up putting the factory headers and cats back. I left the back boxes on.
I have the Top Gear headers with 200 cell cats on my base cayman my exhaust is Porsche but still great condition but when it’s ready t.o change I will be getting one of these fitted happy Christmas 😎

I’ve got the same on mine but I had 200 cell top gear headers fitted as well all in that was £2350 fitted and once it been on there a while it sounds even better
One thing I’d like to know perhaps you viewers can help would it make any difference if I had it re mapped

Hey Bro, nice car, I'm in Perth, currently have a tuned Audi A7 but considering getting the Cayman 981, considering getting the "S" or do you recommend get the standard and put and get the S exhaust system on it like you, which may work out cheaper? I actually wanted a 2015 RS7 because i wanted a v8 roar but it seems like these Caymans sound good? Hard to tell on just hearing from the vids, haven't driven one yet only just decided today that this might be my next car
I was toying with lots of cars, RS5 was a contender but after driving the cayman I knew it had to be the one. Even the standard 2.7 or 2.9 will still sound Incredible, you won’t be disappointed.

I have a design tec sports exhaust on my 987 Boxster S from design 911, the old one had completely rusted back boxes so had to go. I find between 2000 and 300 revs it’s quite loud in the car, past that it’s fine. It also seems to have added some horsepower because the back cats are gone, still passes emissions by the way. It does make the car sound like a proper sports car. Yours sounds great by the way. 👍
I have the same on mine...tbh I find the noise between 2-3 revs annoying, I preferred the understated sound of the factory unit...unfortunately I couldnt afford the 4.5k replacement costs....guess Ill have to grin and bare it
Can you do a general engine update how many miles you done on it since the rebuild,any problems.

981 pse exhaust situation is terrible. back order for YEARS. after market cost thousands more than factory.
EBay is your friend as are the forums. EBay Germany seems to have more used stuff like PSEs.
@@rossbethell4187 qall i could find is a ton of valve tronics, 1 for $4000 from a spyder i/ll have to check rennlist. Reddit told me that if you ask suncaost they could get on within 6 months now days which seems reasonable to me.

Thankfully not at all. I’m old and live in a nice area. Turns out Porsches are cheap to insure.
