    It's still a good strategy though. It's easier to win against Slovenia than against olympics gold medalist. Japan sending the bench players knowing it's quite impossible to win against France even with their original first 6. If this 2nd team manage to pull an upset like how they did with Russia last year, it's a bonus for them. If they failed, then it's a calculated loss. Either way their main 6 can get a rest and recharge so they can try to get that win from Slovenia tomorrow. Also I believe they dare to risk this match because they've only lost once and it was a full set match against USA. I'm sure Japan won't send their bench players in tournament like olympics/world championship but vnl is a long tournament with packed schedule you can't keep using the same line up. For a team that doesn't have a deep bench like Japan, it's better to let go of matches you don't think you can win and focus on the ones you can win

    • @alejandrobeltran2794
      @alejandrobeltran2794 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I disagree.
      The Slovenian team is not like in the past years, they are playing at a low level, Japan will have no problem to win tomorrow by 3-0 if they go with their starters, even with an alternate team they would have won. The important match was today.
      It was much more beneficial that, already qualified, today they go with a starting team and have a real test against France, in which they had nothing to lose and much to gain, like correcting mistakes before a possible new confrontation in the final stage of the tournament.
      Japan's fatigue? Then they are not physically the same as Italy, Brazil, Poland or France, who this week played either with a starting team, or with a mixed team if the opponent warranted it.

      Maybe the Japanese coach is aware of the physical condition of his players, and preferred to risk everything with one of the two (Italy or France) and give away the other game. He did the easy one.
      An Olympics or a World Championship are also very demanding physically, everything is played very fast. It is a shame that the Japanese team, even with its good technique, does not have the physical strength to win a medal in an important tournament.

      And YES. Japan played with their bench players (no Ishikawa, nor Nishida, nor Ran, nor Yamauchi n Onodera, nor Yamamoto, Sekita played only a few rallies) while France had both main OHs, CBs, Clevenot, Tonnutti. So there aren't only excuses, but real reasons.

      Philippe Blain had been a key player in France team years ago, like Laurent Tillie, previous France team coach at Olympics, now coaching a Japanese club. Andrea Gianni was also a key player in Italy, and is doing very good now with France team 👍

      @@sunoomyloml I know that,; the FIVB knows that. I did not say "NOT working." I said "not working very well." There is a difference. The FIVB chose Manila and Araneta in the hopes that this would be a comfortable setting for the tournament. If the conditions are less than ideal, the FIVB will not return there next year since there are many other host locations that will be kinder to the players. That is the context my comments should be taken in.

      I agree Poland are good but when it matters the most in a match with this French team trust me just like in the Olympics Poland will be beaten by France the French have been so good over the decade that i feel like people are hating on them the way their still underrated is a crime they went from rozier to boyer and Patry even tonnuiti is not a starter when brizard is healthy it's crazy name me any team this decade that have won a vnl final championship match in Brazil against Brazil and won France did it twice that if you really been a kin of international volleyball that is not a fit to take lightly monstrous.

      @@hahalol2213 lets extend the question further, how many international volleyball tournaments have Japan won? Japan fans are so petty. They look down on other teams. I remember last year. I think 3 months after the summer olympics ended, they said Ishikawa is the most popular volleyball player in the world. I answered back that at the time, Ngapeth is. And they said they don't know who Ngapeth is. At the time, France just won gold in the Olympics and Ngapeth was the MVP. If they don;t know who Ngapeth is, then who do they know?
