    Ran is going to be a beast. His receiving has improved ever since he played libero and he’s also hitting sharper angle. Hoping Japan comes back even stronger next year.

      @@phoenixaxe yes he is under a contract in padova until 2023 I think, and I think he only got to play as a libero in the last three matches because when he joined the team didn't get a lot of wins so he was utilized as a defense in the remaining matches to avoid getting relegated

    Ishikawa getting injured at the worst time, Nishida getting massacred by the block and having the worst game he's had this entire VNL. Very unfortunate for Japan. Congratulations to France🎉 I believe they will be champions this year🇫🇷🏆

    Brizards development is so exceptional to me. I remember him taking over for the Olympics and he's been outstanding ever since. Also because he can do it all. Great setting, crazy touches on 1, great complementing blocking on a strong france block. I just love him.

      Same here. And such a clever player in all his choices! He knows when to be bold and it very often pays off. Love Toniutti as well but the game always becomes that much more fun when Brizard comes on court.

      Yeah, whilst Toniuti is a fantastic setter, what brizard brings to the other aspects of the game is huge for France. Serving: his aces and tough serving has been the difference for France more than once. Blocking: Toniuti can be a bit of a liability for France there.

    So happy to see my fave libero, Jenia, back on the my favorite team! Screaming, manning the defense and sending those amazing receives that allowed Brizard to set up his spikers! I like Japan but they are not at the level YET of France.
    So sad for Ishikawa’s injury and I hope he recovers soon. I think he would have made a big difference in this game if he played.
    Congrats Les Bleus! Let’s get to the finals again!

    Japan really missed Ishikawa, and France were as strong as always. That being said, Japan have made a massive amount of progress recently and I look forward to see them reach similar heights next year!

    starting from the second set, the audience would blare their airhorns whenever japan was about to serve and sometimes when they were about to spike. This is the first time I witness attempted disruption in high-level volleyball and it felt extremely disrespectful to both teams.

      Though i agree with you, this shouldnt be done jn the future but those people who keep on blowing their horns are Iranians, its part of their norm whenever Iran is playing.
      Team iran played the next game after this match.

      @@mh.brussels5919 The match was between France and Japan. Iranian fans had no business to make noise during this match since Iran team wasn't playing. I was there and many fans around me were annoyed by the horns, this video doesn't show how noisy they actually were.

    Congratsss France, the blocks was mindblowing. Always love watching volleyball for the monster block. And the entrance, LOVE ITTTT SO MUCHH.
    And Japan, it was tough but you guys gave a good fight, getting to QF this year was an improvement. I’m sure they’ll keep improving. It’ll be exciting to see.
    On the side note: whoever blew that freaking airhorn, let’s fight ayee.

      this is the real problem of japan ... if ngapeth does not play in france team they can replace him with boyer or clevenot if ishikawa does not play in japan team they do not have players that can replace him

    There was no match , it was like watching a boxer cornered cashing in punitions and struggling to stay up.Ishikawa,by far the best japanese player,wasn t there and Japan missed him.
    Nishida got an incredible amount of monster blocks and France kept spiking without encountering real resistence.The great japanese floor defence was not enough.
    Japan started the vln very well ,they gave everythink they could from the very beginning , but today we really saw his limits.France played well ang got a victory without any extraordinary effort.

    France has been my favorite team since 2016 and I am very happy to have accompanied them all this time, more now as Olympic champions and in an incredible state of game! Let's go guys! 🇫🇷❤️

    Even though Japan probably still would have lost with their captain, his absence means way too much more than that of any other player😢😢 Although the other OHs are good, none can level with Ishikawa. His selflessness during plays really helps bring out his teammates' strong points. Today Nishida was easily marked more without Ishikawa and he himself must have felt A LOT of pressure knowing he had to lead his team with the attacks🥲
    Good job to Japan and great match France you totally deserve that spot in the semis!

    I really wanted Japan to win but France was amazing!😍 I don’t think my country Italy will beat France. So if we lose, I am going to root for the French team.

      @@osidjjtthbt6786 I love N’Gapeth too. He signed my volleyball team jersey when I was 11, he was playing in Piedmont at that time. He and many others were my inspiration. I was rooting for Japan in this match because it was their first time in a quarter final. I have nothing against France, I admire them. I love both teams.

    As expected (even without Ngapeth on court). Having the King Libero Jenia back again just makes things easier for team France (although Diez did well in his place). Looking forward to some fun tough matches with US, Poland or Italy.

      @@Thomas_Erickson They are very much interchangeable, Giani can play either of them. Patry is slightly better now because he has more variety of shots and does better out of system. Its great when you have such great players even on the bench.

      @@yungwells6549 a year ago I would agreed 100%. But patry has gotten better and better, and Boyer has basically stagnated since 2017. Patry also fits France’s playstyle better and is more consistent. At this point Boyer is a backup you can roll the dice on.

    Japan preparing the next gen with youngsters on the court for the entire match, and still getting close to taking a decisive first set is incredible. France deserved to win, but Nippon guys could really have gone further if they'd had to play against the others quarters-losers.

      @@erumasglue to be fair, most of the teams have mostly young guys, the vnl is used mainly for that reason, to try and experiment. 90% of most teams are really young.

      @@francybenz it used to be that way, but since the Olympic qualification rules changed and now world ranking is one of the important criteria, that’s not the case anymore. Teams can’t afford to experiment and risk lowering their ranking. So a young national team probably just means the best players in that country are young.

    I believe france is strong team, they deserved to win. But the noise from the crowd vuvuzela everytime japan served was so annoying even to me when watching in television. This is so pathetic.

    Japan is such entertaining team despite lack of height and firepower.
    Funny cause France is like a better version of Japan, both are creative teams with good team chemistry and very good defense but french have far more athletic skills.

    How ridiculous is it that there were one or two people in the crowd just blowing horns when it was Japan’s serve or even on their court?? I get that cheers and crowd noise can’t be avoided, but something like that just seemed really unsportsmanlike and definitely unfair. Japan still played well and France played phenomenal, but the horn just made me disgusted and disappointed.

    Its just that France is too good even without Ngapeth. Tbh, Japan even with or without Ishikawa will be struggle too. But this VNL Japan is much more stronger than last year. They improve so much. Otsuka too really improve so much in this VNL. Wish too see him play more.

    Just love Japanese national team, their style and approach but France was undoubtedly stronger this time. French block just nullified all the efforts of their opponents. Looking forward to see the final game.

    It's so good to see such a diverse and cheerful audience. And even Caterina Bosetti and Laura Heyrman (Louati is her boyfriend) were there. France's coach Giani was speaking in Italian during the time outs because most of the players played or play in the Superlega and understands it.

      I'm french, and supporting the french team, (japan being the close second actually, butno team deserves this) and i hated that too.. I'm so disapointed... I feel like a lot of serves errors from Japan comes from this

      No matter how much they develop, you can't teach height, and Japan will always suffer against big blocking teams because of that, not to mention that Japan themselves are bad at blocking

    If you guys notice during set 2 and 3, the horn blowers are only blowing whenever Japan players serve and play. It's very much disturbing for us as the audience who watched on tv. I hope VNL kick them out from the venue. I am sure they are disturbing japanese players's concentration too.

    But man, Brizard is insane when serving at the end of the set, he's fantastic. The semifinal will be insane

      yeah, bc it was the highlights I wasn't seeing tons of names on the backs of jerseys but the ones I saw were not familiar names. I only recognized Takahashi, Sekita, Yamauchi (sp), Nishida, and libero (sorry I don't recall name) and I think I heard them also say Onodera (sp?). what happened to Fukuzawa, he is no longer on the team?
