Katie wears a pride pin, she talks seemingly from experience about how it’s not good to repress your feelings, says she was different for a lot of reasons, says she had some trouble figuring herself out (which everyone goes through -almost, you lucky bastards-, but all the stereotypes don’t make it any easier), talked about jade separate from the rest of the friends and there is the scene in the end of the movie, which is not post credit btw. That’s it, that’s the comment, it’s just here for me to say how cool it is that we got a gay lead and that’s not the focus of the movie. I mean, she had her dramatic story, it was just before the movie and I love that. Still think we could have gotten more, but following the fact that the “minorest” character in onward got the movie censured in some places, having the lead be gay is A MOVE! Sony has my respect, as if it didn’t after spiderverse. Also, this movie was hilarious, cute, and the jokes that didn’t really work for better and worked after a while, or came back later in the best way possible. (Also the character design has my heart and that furby scene was just... my lungs regret having watched the movie because I COULDNT BREATH WITH THOSE CAPTIONS)
I really liked the way this movie portrayed Katie. She is a compelling character who is gay; It is not a trait used to define her entirely, and it is clearly not an act of corporate pandering. I mean, given it's a kids movie, there's a relatively limited amount of romance to be expected, and I think this movie handles the subject quite tastefully.

I watched this without my family because me and the main girl literally have the same name and there's aton of lessons and things in this movie and if i watch it with my family they'll just be like " look at that. don't EVER do that" "you might be lying to us like she did." "Are you gay?" "Children these days.. never learn how to respect elders and just lie to them. Choose friends over the people who's been with them and raised them their whole lives. They'd rather pick gadgets over humanity" And other things and I'll just feel uncomfortable or not good enough or make me feel as if I did something wrong so I'll never want to watch this with them- they'll just compare me to her or tell me that i am her

My dad invited me to watch this movie with him last week. I was all stressed out with work that he thought that I should relax a bit and take a little break. We watched this movie together, and the story, well, it really hit both of us hard.
Just saying, if Luca, Enchanto, or Growing red beat this in film awards I will riot. This movie was probably one of the best thought out movies I’ve seen since into the spiderverse. Disney got nothing on it.
At the end of the movie when the mom said “are you guys offical? Are you bringing her home for dinner?” My dad started making some homophobic comments and my stepmom started arguing with him so they started fighting, I just went to my room and started crying quietly

I love this movie for so many reasons! 1. *happy screams in LGBTQ+ representation* 2. I'm a teen who sometimes has anxiety about the knowledge that I'll go to college one day and be on my own. This movie helped me cope with it a little. 3. This movie is a pretty accurate representation of my family, especially the mom. 4. Amazing villain! Pal is such a good sudden villain character! 5. The two robots that the mom technically adopts are the best part about this. They made me crack up so hard. 6. Monchi literally saved the world. That, and the conveniently placed glass of water. 7. I honestly can't wait for the roomba part to become a Rumbi meme. 8. The Furbies are terrifying and I love them. 9. ALEX HIRSCH AND GREY GRIFFIN ARE IN THIS! 10. The moment where young Katie and her dad are singing together hits close to home. I used to sing Kidz Bop with my dad.

The earlier scenes of Mitchell vs Machines and emotional parts made me, my sister and my Mom. Literally this is the only animated movie that made my Mother cry, the rest of other animated she just fell asleep in XD, only this movie made her cry and more interested to keep on watching.
This movie was literally probably my favorite experience in watching movies. Most movies are centered around romance, or just strict adventure, but this movie felt overall genuine. This movie made me laugh, it made me cry, but most importantly, it made me realize how close to home this is. We really do need more movie's where it teaches a valuable lesson, rather than what we usually see. It was an amazing turn on the usual "zombie/robot apocalypse" movies.
"Things only adults noticed" yeah but a lot of kids noticed all this stuff, and the first thing you talked about was something that made sense to almost all ages.
I thought that this was going to be one of those kiddy anti tech movies that were usually really bad but i really liked it and I found my self laughing and crying and loved every minute of it
i would so love for a sequel of this where something else at Pal goes wrong, or just more so focusing on another adventure with the Mitchell family (and maybe the Posey's)

In my countries dubbing, the mom just said "Is Jade as cool as you said, and are you bringing her back for the holidays?" To which Katie responds with "Calm down, we've only known each other for a month" I guess that isn't an extreme censorship and you could take it either way but I'm not surprised they maybe tried to cover it up cause the LGBT is a pretty controversial topic in my country

While watching this movie, I realized there's moments where I related to Katie, moments that really hit me hard, realizing "hey, I act like this" and I almost cried a few times when these moments had happened when I related to Katie a bit too much

I watched this right when it came out on Netflix and I’m not gonna lie... I cried during this because my dad and I always fight... so I related so much with this.
When I saw jade i was like r they dating but then I thought my brain was being to gay. But the ending was so obvious so I searched it up and literally screamed when I found out they were dating. The rest of my family was less excited.
I thought this was gonna be about adult jokes that may have swept over kids' heads, but these moral values are certianly things kids can catch on and notice.

I appriciate it that katie being queer is not the main topic of the unacceptance of her parents or the main topic of the movie. That makes the movie real and nice
something that gets me about this movie bc of how much i love it, is that this is a VERY good example of what happens when multiple members of a family are autistic but few or none of them are diagnosed. the character that’s just about called out for being autistic is the little brother, but it’s equally if not even more apparent in Katie, and then their Dad! it’s not that this movie isn’t super heart felt (plus it’s somewhat based on real people!) but that’s absolutely what it boils down to, and i LOVE that. Katie and her dad have intense special interests that completely differ from each other in every single way shape and or form. there’s genuinely no reason for them to get along, because the things that each of them care about the most are different. it doesn’t mean they can’t, though. the moment you realize that’s the issue, stuff changes. i say this because i’ve lived it. finding out late SUCKS but at least i got to fix things with other members of the family that are like me. (consequently, this differing that happens is also probably the main reason katie and aaron get along so well, as she sees what happened to her now happening to him, and she can’t stand for it. plus dinosaurs are so cool,) that mom does an A++++ job of knowing how to direct and help her family despite not knowing truly how to help! it’s one of my fav parts, bc that’s how my mom is too (except she knew but i digress)
Hints Katie was LGBTQ, all of them are quite subtle, in fact. I love this movie for so many reasons!
1. *happy screams in LGBTQ+ representation*
2. I'm a teen who sometimes has anxiety about the knowledge that I'll go to college one day and be on my own. This movie helped me cope with it a little.
3. This movie is a pretty accurate representation of my family, especially the mom.
4. Amazing villain! Pal is such a good sudden villain character!
5. The two robots that the mom technically adopts are the best part about this. They made me crack up so hard.
6. Monchi literally saved the world. That, and the conveniently placed glass of water.
7. I honestly can't wait for the roomba part to become a Rumbi meme.
8. The Furbies are terrifying and I love them.
9. ALEX HIRSCH AND GREY GRIFFIN ARE IN THIS!
10. The moment where young Katie and her dad are singing together hits close to home. I used to sing Kidz Bop with my dad.

I don't see how tho. The story wrapped it pretty well and the story is just perfect as it is. There villain was killed, and Katie's arc is wrapped it. There's really no need anymore

The earlier scenes of Mitchell vs Machines and emotional parts made me, my sister and my Mom. Literally this is the only animated movie that made my Mother cry, the rest of other animated she just fell asleep in XD, only this movie made her cry and more interested to keep on watching.

The end credits were amazing. Seeing childhood photos of the film crew was ✨👌✨
This movie was literally probably my favorite experience in watching movies. Most movies are centered around romance, or just strict adventure, but this movie felt overall genuine. This movie made me laugh, it made me cry, but most importantly, it made me realize how close to home this is. We really do need more movie's where it teaches a valuable lesson, rather than what we usually see. It was an amazing turn on the usual "zombie/robot apocalypse" movies.
"Things only adults noticed" yeah but a lot of kids noticed all this stuff, and the first thing you talked about was something that made sense to almost all ages.
None of these were things only adults would notice.
I thought that this was going to be one of those kiddy anti tech movies that were usually really bad but i really liked it and I found my self laughing and crying and loved every minute of it
i would so love for a sequel of this where something else at Pal goes wrong, or just more so focusing on another adventure with the Mitchell family (and maybe the Posey's)

In my countries dubbing, the mom just said "Is Jade as cool as you said, and are you bringing her back for the holidays?" To which Katie responds with "Calm down, we've only known each other for a month" I guess that isn't an extreme censorship and you could take it either way but I'm not surprised they maybe tried to cover it up cause the LGBT is a pretty controversial topic in my country

While watching this movie, I realized there's moments where I related to Katie, moments that really hit me hard, realizing "hey, I act like this" and I almost cried a few times when these moments had happened when I related to Katie a bit too much

It’s probably just me I like that Katie and Aaron have they good sibling bond that i don’t see that much in others movies i watch. I just love that they already learned so about each other instead of being I hate my sibling and blah blah 😒 so I’m happy they a have that relationship with each other

I think this movie did lgbtq representation pretty well, instead of her being “a gay character” she is a character who happens to be gay, it’s not a major part of her character but it fits

I appriciate it that katie being queer is not the main topic of the unacceptance of her parents or the main topic of the movie. That makes the movie real and nice
something that gets me about this movie bc of how much i love it, is that this is a VERY good example of what happens when multiple members of a family are autistic but few or none of them are diagnosed. the character that’s just about called out for being autistic is the little brother, but it’s equally if not even more apparent in Katie, and then their Dad! it’s not that this movie isn’t super heart felt (plus it’s somewhat based on real people!) but that’s absolutely what it boils down to, and i LOVE that. Katie and her dad have intense special interests that completely differ from each other in every single way shape and or form. there’s genuinely no reason for them to get along, because the things that each of them care about the most are different. it doesn’t mean they can’t, though. the moment you realize that’s the issue, stuff changes. i say this because i’ve lived it. finding out late SUCKS but at least i got to fix things with other members of the family that are like me. (consequently, this differing that happens is also probably the main reason katie and aaron get along so well, as she sees what happened to her now happening to him, and she can’t stand for it. plus dinosaurs are so cool,) that mom does an A++++ job of knowing how to direct and help her family despite not knowing truly how to help! it’s one of my fav parts, bc that’s how my mom is too (except she knew but i digress)

Hints Katie was LGBTQ, all of them are quite subtle, in fact. (Except the last one.)
1 - She seems to be obsessed with Jade.
2 - She has a rainbow pin on her red jacket, or as it's traditionally called, a gay pride pin.
3 - She says "Don't hide your feelings man, that's no way to live." Implying that she's hidden the fact she's lesbian, and doesn't like it.
4 - In the end of the movie, or the "post credits" scene, Linda says: Are you and Jade offical? Implying that they are dating.
