Wow I didn’t know they made a k - drama out of it. Boys over flowers is actually an older shoujo manga that introduced the rich guy falling for a commoner for the first time. The manga is just… crazy.
@@Pollicina_db Yeah from what I know Boys Over Flowers has live action dramas in Japan, Korea, AND Thailand (and possibly an anime? Im not sure about that one though)
I first heard about this film on a Brazilian channel but the video said that the film was extremely fatphobic just as the promotional material implied, but then I saw other videos talking about this film and what really happens in the film and that it is about inner beauty and body positivity. As a person who hates beauty standards, this film is 100% something I will forever appreciate for existing. Also, Snow White is super adorable!
I really like how the shoes have an effect sort of like the one ring, were they are suposse to entice you and you can't take them off. Because it shows both that Snow isn't perfect, even if she genuinly loves herself in her own body she is still affected by how the world treats her when she is Red Shoes, and has some trouble taking the shoes off, but also when she is also able to overcome this when the people she loves are in danger it shows her strenght of character how different she is from her villan. I think in general this movie does a great job in how it gives their characters flaws.
i enjoyed that the rest of the dudes stayed the same because it's their turn to find someone special to them, it's nice thay they get to fall in love in their own special way
I just saw some cute fanart of them a few days ago 😭 I remember seeing the advertising for the film before it released, but decided to give it a try after seeing a video praising it AND BRO, THIS MOVIE IS SO SWEET! It's that kind of movie that leaves you wanting more, more of the sweet wholesome dynamics, more of the beautiful message, more of the art style 😭 Snow and Merlin might be my favorite movie couple ever, they are just so adorable together!
I hate how they advertised this movie. I hate that at one point I avoided it because of that advertising. I'm glad I know differently now. Also advertising really is never factual, it's so hard to determine something on ads alone.
The scene where Snow White is being turned into a tree? No cap, I play it on repeat. The VOICE ACTING. MERLINS VOICE ACTOR CRYING OUT DESPERATELY?!?! I CRY AT THE VOICE ACTING BEING SO RAW AND BELIEVABLLLLEEEE!!! THE DESPERATION!!!!
@@Cheezitnator Same, it's become one of my favorite movies because of him! I never would have given it a chance otherwise, and I bought the DVD as soon as it hit Walmart shelves
Sad Fact : Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs had a $20M budget but only made $9.8M, so it wasn’t a box office hit. But is hit on my heart I wish we could do something about it all of the happened because of the mistake ad protection made.
We need to talk about the real MVP, the fairy princess ✨️ who despite having shape-shifting abilities still loves herself in her own skin and doesn't change 💅
This movie was genuinely such a breath of fresh air in comparison to more recent movies in a similar vein and it's honestly sad about the bad PR but I'm so happy it's been getting more love!!! We love to see it!! (also Merlin is now my comfort character i mean come on)
YESSSS SOMEONE ELSE TALKING ABOUT RED SHOES AND THE SEVEN DWARFS ❤😭 I love this film so much and the character designs! Also the little parody of other fairytales in this movie are my favorite. 😊
I think the joke of everyone calling apples the most suspicious fruit is just a nice simple jab at how much of a trope having a poisoned or cursed apple is in fairy tales so at a point anytime an apple is in a fairytale you can kinda just assume something bad will happen
Ironically Merlin's personality is red and Snow's is blue. I see this happen all the time where the character's personalities are opposite of their color.
8:16 Basically most good movies fall under the “15 Minute Rule” where the story has to kick off in between the “first 15 minutes” otherwise it keeps the audience feeling like it’s a waste of time til the initial “kick off” of the story in which is a great example as with why the Wish movie feels super off from most other Disney movies that do follow the rule!!
I couldn't agree more. I love this movie so much mostly because of how much I see myself in Snow White and how I envy her love story with Merlin. See, I'm an overweight teen who's comfortable in my own skin but unfortunately being overweight does make me a subject of some scrutiny while also having difficulty with finding a romantic partner. I have long accepted I might never find someone who can learn to love me for who I am, but this movie makes me think about finding a fairytale-like type of love and it absolutely makes me feel butterflies in my tummy whenever I watch this movie. Btw I love your animation style, it's so simple yet so cute and funny, I am so definitely subscribed!
I love this movie so very much, so it was so much fun to watch this video. I still remember how psyched I was back in 2020 when I saw your Cursed - Merlin mep part, because I love that idiot so much. Very well made, Carrie!
I desperatedly need sequels to this movie in the same universes just to see in full display how the other F7 boys find their true love and get their character development. Or I can just delulu myself with fanfiction and roleplay... That works too
This movie always deserves more love. I am personally not the biggest fan of the amount of pop songs and montages because that sometimes feels to me like it messes with the flow of the movie, but that is really just a very tiny detail compared to the amazing character building this movie did. Snow being really comfortable in her own skin and loving her strength is just so refreshing to see in fiction. Also same on me for somehow missing the credits-scenes.
I always thought his comments about messing up his spells as a dwarf referenced his aim being off because his height changed his reach...Your interpretation is interesting, though! You had a lot of good insights. I already liked this movie, but I think I'll enjoy it more now. 😄
I have thought abt the aiming, but it's also been a year since they were cursed so if it really was just abt that then he would've been used to it imo 🙈 or at least tried adapting
Red Shoes is a PERFECT example of how you can meet in the middle, you don't have to be all outdated and cheesy like the 1937 Snow white, but you don't have to go all woke "Snow white is tough and doesn't need a man" like the remake apparently is going to do. I don't approve of either the old one, nor the remake from Disney, that's why I often gravitate towards non-Disney movies like Red Shoes, Raggedy Ann & Andy Musical Adventure, One Stormy Night, Storks, ect.... there's a lot more non-Disney movies I like than Disney ones! Yeah, obviously I'm not much of a Disney fan but you mentioned Red Shoes, and I'm here for it! Also, keep in mind that this is a Korean movie and the fact that they made it about plus size body positivity, really is groundbreaking! If you don't know, for the last 10 years throughout the Kpop and Kdrama industry, the beauty standards have always been tall, skinny and curvy. There were literally Kpop idols who starved themselves and couldn't dance because they needed to achieve that perfect skinny waist! Western countries are more accepting to plus size and thicker women, but the Korean beauty standards are different and are just now starting to show more body variety in Kpop and Kdrama. The fact that a Korean movie showed plus size body positivity is a big deal, let alone the fact that they totally nailed it! Snow white didn't keep the shoes accepted herself, and Merlin thought that her plus size self was beautiful! This movie is such a beautiful and cute adaptation of Snow white, and I like how they also took inspiration from Shrek, and this movie isn't considered "too girly" so that everyone can enjoy it. This will be the Snow White that MY kids are gonna grow up with, not your ancient Disney cartoon version from ancient times.
In the version of the red shoes that I read when I was young, her shoes never stopped dancing so her feet were cut off by a lumberjack and she had to live without feet for the rest of her life 😰 scared the hell out of me as a child
I think the marketing was trying a “what if both Snow White and the Dwarfs were cursed” bit, but by pointing out that Snow White doesn’t fit the conventional beauty standards in a “joking manner” it just ended up going against everything the film is trying to say
This has been one of my favorites since it came out, I remember when the DVD hit walmart shelves I was ON THAT. I will forever suggest this one during a movie night when people haven't seen it
I LOVE this movie! I found out about the terrible marketing after the fact and was so disappointed cause this movie is literally so adorable and deserves more love!
I really like this movie too, and I’m glad it’s getting more positive representation. I hope more people see it. It’s really good and I love the Romance and just the mess of loving yourself.
I’m living for the fact that you mentioned Kuzco considering I see the queen as a mixture of Gothel and Yzma and the mirror being voiced by Kronk is the cherry on top
This movie is incredible! I'd seen people talk about it before (the movie, not the marketing) but I watched it after your recommendation and it was so worth it. I wanna thank you for talking about the specific parts that you liked but not spoiling the major parts, because seeing them in context made me smile more and watching plot-specific things/twists were really nice to see. I still got to see the movie in the same light as it would be "unspoiled" despite you basically describing the entire movie, so thank you!
You're right, it is a hidden gem, till now all stories about princesses and princes were "OMFG she's SO BEAUTIFUL, gonna marry her" to the point it made me wanna vomit. That's why under my friend's pressure I watched this one but as the story progressed the only think I had in my head was: "FINALLY"! No falling in love with beautiful body but beautiful soul, the way Red Shoes was and not how she looked like. Okay Okay! I do know what you wanna tell me: Merlin was so shallow as it goes in the beginning but later on wasn't. Actually developed. I loved that Red Shoes wasn't after putting..well shoes "I'm finally thin!" but "wait a moment.....this isn't me" so she accepted her looks, accepted she's chubby and liked that.
I thought this movie was fun for a one time watch, but it’s not a movie I’d probably watch all the time. I know a LOT of people didn’t like this movie, and I don’t blame them, but I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’ve definetly watched WAY worse movies, I’d give the movie a 6/10 and if someone asked me to watch it with them I probably wouldn’t say no 🤷
Listen... I get the theme of the movie and I am not a shallow person. But if the girl I saved looked like the daughter of handsome squidward and shrek I think I would also instinctively zap her with lightning.
I'd never heard of this movie before watching this video. I'll be honest I was quick to write it off as a low budget knockoff like the weird CG Pinocchio movie was from last year. But I'll admit, this movie looks pretty good! I mean, it's kind of a jumble of movies that have already been done before but it looks like it has its own identity. The animation quality is way better that I expected, the voice acting is pretty good, the story is cute, the message is wholesome. I could see this as a late night guilty pleasure watch. Good review! Happy October B-Day. :)

Red shoes is a good watch. The story, the music, the scenery, the character designs, the development, the whole nine yards. For a studio’s first movie this truly is a treasure to be found in the art of fantasy animation.

Does anyone know if the dramas are better than the manga? I dropped the manga pretty early on
@@starsoullove127 literally as soon as I heard F7 I was like “…oh my god” and SHINee’s Stand By Me started playing in my head 😭😭
I love the design for Snow White, she’s super pretty and I want her hair gradient 💖
@@CarrieTooTired Yeah! She's so cute, I love this movie because it's about self-love and body positivity!^-^
I think in general this movie does a great job in how it gives their characters flaws.
i enjoyed that the rest of the dudes stayed the same because it's their turn to find someone special to them, it's nice thay they get to fall in love in their own special way
I have an assignment due at the end of the week for art and then i saw a "carrie too tired" video, boredom cleansed.
good luck on that assignment 🫡
@@CarrieTooTired yo how ya doing?
gl my guy
no shot i get 72 likes and a reply from carrie herself-
@Rheaverse_yt Same, I'm also watching this while doing an assignment for art, too!
I just saw some cute fanart of them a few days ago 😭 I remember seeing the advertising for the film before it released, but decided to give it a try after seeing a video praising it AND BRO, THIS MOVIE IS SO SWEET! It's that kind of movie that leaves you wanting more, more of the sweet wholesome dynamics, more of the beautiful message, more of the art style 😭 Snow and Merlin might be my favorite movie couple ever, they are just so adorable together!
snowlin gang snowlin gang
The weirdest k-drama song transition is when he does the flower field thing; god it's so out of the blue lmao. I love this movie
I hate how they advertised this movie. I hate that at one point I avoided it because of that advertising. I'm glad I know differently now. Also advertising really is never factual, it's so hard to determine something on ads alone.
honestly I learned from pixar trailers that ads are a dice roll on its own
@@CarrieTooTired Yeah I feel like it's nearly every movie trailer nowadays
There was nothing wrong with the advertising. It showed and not tell.
@@qwmx wdym? it said something like 'what if snow white was no longer beautiful', awful advertising
I have to say I love that snow white being a big girl is an advantage, she is super strong and she loves herself confidently ❤
It’s sad that the marketing was so bad because it’s a genuinely sweet film with a good message.
Gosh I love this movie, the message, characters, love story, animation, etc etc. It's a shame the marketing was so poorly made.
I think you're the only person I've seen say anything positive about this movie and it legit makes me want to give it a watch.
thank you 💖 have a good movie night!!
you should its really good! Most of the negative comes from people who didnt even watch it they just know about the marketing flub that happened.
@@Gillder Saberspark also talked about it years ago and how the marketing did it so dirty. I watched it back then because of his coverage.
@@Cheezitnator Same, it's become one of my favorite movies because of him! I never would have given it a chance otherwise, and I bought the DVD as soon as it hit Walmart shelves
On Polish yt I saw video of a guy who loved that movie, so not all hope is lost
I’m happy to see someone talk about this film, it’s so underrated! Also, that Merlin fight scene made me realize how attractive he is.
Merlin’s fight scene yesss 💖 he’s so smug lol
Sad Fact : Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs had a $20M budget but only made $9.8M, so it wasn’t a box office hit. But is hit on my heart I wish we could do something about it all of the happened because of the mistake ad protection made.
I love the "I already foud your father like 2 weeks ago" 6:51
We need to talk about the real MVP, the fairy princess ✨️ who despite having shape-shifting abilities still loves herself in her own skin and doesn't change 💅
This movie was genuinely such a breath of fresh air in comparison to more recent movies in a similar vein and it's honestly sad about the bad PR but I'm so happy it's been getting more love!!! We love to see it!! (also Merlin is now my comfort character i mean come on)
Lovely video, loved the attention to detail with the window bonk at 29:45
YESSSS SOMEONE ELSE TALKING ABOUT RED SHOES AND THE SEVEN DWARFS ❤😭 I love this film so much and the character designs!
Also the little parody of other fairytales in this movie are my favorite. 😊
I love the triplets being named after Pinocchio 💖
28:31 THOSE WERE THEIR KIDS?! omg I never knew that !! THAT IS SUCH A CUTE DETAIL !
I think the joke of everyone calling apples the most suspicious fruit is just a nice simple jab at how much of a trope having a poisoned or cursed apple is in fairy tales so at a point anytime an apple is in a fairytale you can kinda just assume something bad will happen
This is one of my comfort movies. It’s so fun and silly but also has an important message. So glad I gave it a chance💕
Personally I would love to see a spin off about the other 7 and their partners, love Arthur and little red ridding wolf
2:25 He looks like the main character from trollhunters 😭
Very well made, Carrie!
thanks autie 💖
15:00 Also hurrah for "bad guys" actually being capable!
I desperatedly need sequels to this movie in the same universes just to see in full display how the other F7 boys find their true love and get their character development.
Or I can just delulu myself with fanfiction and roleplay... That works too
At the very end of the credits prince average finds the fairy princess that cursed the fearless 7 and she cursed prince average with the same curse
I actually saw this a few months ago.... on tv, pretty good movie I thought it was a Disney movie I NEVER seen. XDDD
it does remind me of late 2000s/ early 2010s Disney in the best ways
In the version of the red shoes that I read when I was young, her shoes never stopped dancing so her feet were cut off by a lumberjack and she had to live without feet for the rest of her life 😰 scared the hell out of me as a child
Happy totally carrie's birthday month, Carrie.
Always enjoy seeing you've uploaded, no matter if it's late or not
what you mean lol it’s september 38th… I made it just in time 💀
@@CarrieTooTired LOL
THANK YOUU i love this movie and it deserves so much more than what it got. The marketing could've been better but maybe it was a translation error
I think the marketing was trying a “what if both Snow White and the Dwarfs were cursed” bit, but by pointing out that Snow White doesn’t fit the conventional beauty standards in a “joking manner” it just ended up going against everything the film is trying to say
WAKE UP HONEY CARRIE POSTEEEEED
Also happy bday Carrie :3
Huh-? WAIT WHY AM I IN UR BASEMENT- AND WHY WAS I ASLEEP-
I get the side eye everytime I mention this movie, Im glad more people are actually watching it depite the horrible marketing 😭✨
THIS MOVIE IS SOO UNDERRATED I NEED MORE PEOPLE TO TALK ABT THIS
I WATCHED THIS 2 YEARS AGO, IT REALLY IS A HIDDEN GEM
27:11 sam calflin and chloe moretz are fantastic actors thats why you cried 😭😭
This has been one of my favorites since it came out, I remember when the DVD hit walmart shelves I was ON THAT. I will forever suggest this one during a movie night when people haven't seen it
it’s one of the movies I watched during lockdown w/ friends, got it on blu ray as well
I LOVE this movie! I found out about the terrible marketing after the fact and was so disappointed cause this movie is literally so adorable and deserves more love!
0:19 My Districts starts school in August. I do like this movie. But I love Fairytales Movies that Intersect.
I really like this movie too, and I’m glad it’s getting more positive representation. I hope more people see it. It’s really good and I love the Romance and just the mess of loving yourself.
19:22 I LITERALLY DID A SPIT TAKE TO THIS LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I LAUGHED SO HARD!!!!
I’m living for the fact that you mentioned Kuzco considering I see the queen as a mixture of Gothel and Yzma and the mirror being voiced by Kronk is the cherry on top
oh yeah, it's all coming together 😏
lol the mirror‘s voice is just casually Kronk/ Joe Swanson😂
10:15 My favorite example of this is Anais/Richard and Gumball/Nicole in TAWOG :)
yes!! and the fact that richard looked like his mom 🥺
It's funny how when this movie everyone said "fat! No!!!" And hated the movie 😂
This is truly one of my favorite movies. I originally bootleg-hate watched this movie and ended up buying it and forcing my family to watch it lol.
character growth
Just like the movie's Aesop "you can't judge a book by it's cover".
I thought this movie was fun for a one time watch, but it’s not a movie I’d probably watch all the time. I know a LOT of people didn’t like this movie, and I don’t blame them, but I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’ve definetly watched WAY worse movies, I’d give the movie a 6/10 and if someone asked me to watch it with them I probably wouldn’t say no 🤷
Anyone else see Prince Merlin and immediately think "That's Jim from Trollhunters?"
Happy late birthday! And thank you for the new video lol
YES- IM SO GLAD MORE PEOPLE ARE WATCHING IT NOW- SOMEONE MAKE MORE MERLIN EDITS I NEED MORE PLASE
merlin fancam editors rise!!
I remember watching and LOVING this movie as a kid, i'm glad it's getting recognition.
Listen... I get the theme of the movie and I am not a shallow person.
But if the girl I saved looked like the daughter of handsome squidward and shrek I think I would also instinctively zap her with lightning.
@@matijasostojic4288 “I’m not shallow”
*proceeds to be fatphobic* haha you certainly aren’t shallow! You’re a pathetic excuse for a human! Hahah
that’s a deadly combo 💀
28:36 WDYM MERLIN WAS VOICED BY SAM CLAFLIN!?!?!?
I LOOVE this movie sm! It's a part of my childhood and also, the adorable love story like SO GOOD
I watched this years ago (Back in 2020) and watched it again this year I love it so much hee :)
This movie is by far one of my favorites! It's so cute, uplifting and sweet!! The moral is so uplifting, and the animation is insanely well-done!
Happy Late Brithday Carrie
I'd never heard of this movie before watching this video. I'll be honest I was quick to write it off as a low budget knockoff like the weird CG Pinocchio movie was from last year. But I'll admit, this movie looks pretty good!
I mean, it's kind of a jumble of movies that have already been done before but it looks like it has its own identity. The animation quality is way better that I expected, the voice acting is pretty good, the story is cute, the message is wholesome. I could see this as a late night guilty pleasure watch.
Good review! Happy October B-Day. :)
Oh gawd not the yassified pinocchio movie-
…also I’m a September baby but thank you 💖
@@CarrieTooTired oops, sorry about that. And of course, happy birthday either way! Gonna go give this movie a watch. 👀
Also, "yassified" is the best way to describe the entirety of the weird mind trip that is that movie. XD
Unpopular opinion. Beast is fiiiiine. Human beast is... Eh..
…I thought everyone loves Beast > Prince Adam
@@CarrieTooTiredi actually like my men a lil fruity so prince adam was my MAN
did you know that in the original concept art for this cartoon, Jack was originally supposed to have a beautiful mermaid boyfriend? But in the end, he was changed to a fish with legs... minus the representation.
idk who was in charge of the marketing but i just wanna talk... they so screwed the movie before it was even released :[
That feels a lot less like shallowness and a lot more like profiling on the “F7”’s part.
Never thought I'd see any red shoes videos, I never even watched it online I just watched it on DVD (Like years ago) But I'm glad I am because I absolutely LOVED that movie
YES! i Watched this movie after the Saberspark video about it and honestly I love this movie, and it sucks that the marketing flubbed so badly it portrayed the movie as exactly the opposite and now most people didnt even watch it and just remember it as "that fatphobic movie" I dont hear people talk about it enough!
Red shoes is a good watch. The story, the music, the scenery, the character designs, the development, the whole nine yards. For a studio’s first movie this truly is a treasure to be found in the art of fantasy animation.
oh my god MORE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT RED SHOES I LOVE THIS THANK YOU AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY
