If you thought "an Army of One" was bad, get ready for "The Calling." the US Army Recruiting command ran a new series of commercials for a recruiting effort, named The Calling. All but one ended up being a cringe knock off Anime cartoon. Angry Veteran breaks it down for everyone wether or not they were a Soldier.

Just for curiosity, I watched a recruitment ad for the Polish Army, and expected something like "Our land was invaded too many times, but we prevailed, you should too" or "Fight for our nation's freedom, don't beg conquerers for it", but no, it was just a simple montage of the army, no words, no nothing, just the traditional quote at the end "God, Honor, Fatherland". It's straight forward and simple, MILLIONS of times better!

I enlisted at 17 and my dad laughed at the recruiter and said " he's your problem now".

When I was a child (back in the early 80ies growing up in west germany) we ran as fast if we can to the street when we hear one of these big US Army Convoys coming & we love to catch candies and stuff throwing from the GI's to us kids.

That’s an iconically successful campaign, even by civilian and commercial marketing standards though. Rosie the riveter too. Hard to be like even that old trash is better when it’s still a cultural high-water mark. I work in a gym, and we sell T-shirt’s that copped those images stylistically, and they’re outperforming all our other merch by like threefold, and never out of production since introduced.

The comments about family in Vietnam hit home. I never served but come from a military family. It was undoubtedly the stories and advice from my family who served in Vietnam along with my father breaking his neck in Desert Storm that really sealed the deal that it was not for me. Ironic to include and I have to agree that it isn't really the best recruitment topic even if it is relatable.

Or he enlisted in an MOS that wasn’t relied on toward the end of the war. I’m 41, and my dad was in his 20’s at the height of Vietnam. If she was commissioned recently, her dad would’ve served at the tail end of ‘Nam. It’s like kids now saying they served during Operation Iraqi Freedom era.

Those are not people you want in any military. The majority of our schools and our pop culture has been infiltrated by Marxists and they have wrecked many US institutions. We need to fix the institutions first by getting rid of the cultural Marxists and this "woke" garbage.

I don't know why they had to bring up how badly soldiers were treated by civilians during the Vietnam War. Why would a military ad specify the harsh brutality of war and ask teens to join in? Do you wanna spend over a year training in grueling conditions and go through so much time and effort to become a soldier, just to get your face rearranged by an IED as soon as you get deployed?"

Massively popular TH-cam channel will be a gigantic red flag to those politicians. The views expressed therein are a guarantee no one is going to allow this fine example of an NCO to become a senior NCO.
Which is a shame, because the ARMY needs all the genuine Big Drills in the senior NCO rolls. A military branch with a strong NCO corps can withstand anything.

No one in my family is touching the US armed forces even with a 10 foot pole.
If they wanted to tell a real story about enlistment, they should have done one from the perspective of one of my drill sergeants. Man came over from Afghanistan during the mid-2000s, having suffered and lost many of his family along the way. Our DS told us that story while we had some downtime and I’ve never had a story since then that’s impact as much.

You can't see what's behind him since it's out of focus, but there is a lighter tone. Soldier's face slowly begins to show a tightening as he grits his teeth and aims down sights. Cut to close up on trigger, still silent on audio. Slow squeeze and the silence is broken by a muted gunshot, cut to side angle focused on the soldier followed by the sound of the soldier taking a breath.
