  • I've got three predictions for you. The sun will come out tomorrow, you can count on that. Moustaches will be the next big thing. And the H6 is going to be Haval's first great Australian success story.
    I know, that's the biggest call of all. But I've been living with it for the last couple of days, and I'm impressed. And after this video, I reckon you will be too.

    My husband and I went for a test drive last weekend and this is way better than MG's offerings. Excellent camera quality, comfy interior, smooth ride, great safety features. All for a very competitive price! We are almost 100% sure that we are getting this as our first family car after going around to all other major brands. Only cons are fuel consumption (not too dissimilar to some competitors), use of piano black, wish they offered a darker grey paint colour and less well versed salesmen in our area.

      Really nice car, I think my next car will be Haval.
      Also be mindful of the market difference. In China, most cars are driven in cities and on road. In Aus, you may drive off road in countryside. See if you need the car off road and how will they perform.
      And low prices may not low quality. In China low price is not only because low labour costs, also because of the market size. The tradition business model in China is to sell cheap and sell more, then the total profit will be larger. But in most EU countries, and also in Aus the population is much smaller, so the sell cheap sell more will not work so effectively. So, the European business model is more like to make it premium and unique, then charge more. The market decides the business model.

    I remembered 30+ years ago when the Hyundai and Kia came into to Australia, at that time people said they are crappY cars and just cheap on price. However many AustraliaN bought it as just A run around cars. I bought one at that time as well (Frankly it was not too bad). After years AustraliaNs now say Hyundai and Kia are good cars. The point I am trying make is nowadays China made cars and product are already much better quality than 20 years ago and the technology is going fast in China if you haD been visited to China in last few years. I hope Australians can open up their mind and explore yourself. Do not get over bias on country of origin.

      It’s not a bias towards China because of people but the ideology of Chinese government they are a bully, if it’s not their way it’s the highway, Korea and Japan (post ww2) never threatened Australia or Australian ideology of freedom and democracy , maybe if China acts like a normal business nation it wouldn’t be a problem.

    I've owned an admittedly much simpler GWM product (C30 saloon) for 4 years, 75k kms and it has been faultless, no rattles, not even noticeable wear and tear on the interior. Maintenance has been oil changes, filters and that's about it. Across markets in the global south, where they have a huge presence and cars aren't usually maintained all that well (if at all), GWM products have developed a reputation for reliability. Ours (Chilean) standards are much higher than those of most of the developing world but they've been here for almost 15 years and it's come to a point that they no longer have major resale value issues, although it remains to be seen how that'll go on these more sophisticated and expensive models like the Jolion, Cannon and this new H6 (best selling SUV of its category in China for quite a while). OZ didn't get the Pierre Leclercq-designed 3rd gen that was the decisive great leap forward (historical pun totes not intended), but that is holding up its value pretty well. They reportedly have adapted/copied Toyota's production philosophy and also none of what we get outside of China hasn't been on sale over there for a good while, meaning they've had a run in the real world in the tens of thousands sold in the Chinese market and have ironed out early faults. If anything, these people are meticulous and carefully planning their every move. The fact that the products you get have to be produced in RHD could be a source of issues but seems unlikely, from the years I've been following them they just don't botch launches. Australia/NZ are key markets for them to solidify their reputation some more.

    • @carsguide
      @carsguide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You're welcome! As for the glare concern - I didn't experience any problems and found the screen to be bright and easily readable at all times of the day. And the 0-100km/h time wasn't tested but from experience you'd be looking at about 10 seconds unladen. I tested the front wheel drive version and found that as with many of them from all brands the driving wheels struggle to maintain traction under hard acceleration in the wet. The CX-9 FWD is the same, though. Hope that helps and thanks, Richard

    I'd be more comfortable buying Haval of I knew the support systems in place provided by Haval dealerships for servicing as well. If they follow the model and pathway Hyundai and Kia invested in in the 00s as they started their resurgence to where they are today, I might take a gamble on a Haval ultra model one day. As an entry brand I wonder if their pricing is competitive enough when the H6 ultra is competing with a Highlander spec 2022 Tucson.
