The idea of making a giant piece of laser artillery, and needing a separate robot to aim like a rifle as opposed to just building in a targeting system is exactly the kind of illogical nonsense that produces cool designs like this. I love it
Actually there is a logical reason as to why the laser artillery is wield like a rifle instead of having its own targeting system and that has to due with Gundam Universe Minovsky particles which interfere with low frequency electromagnetic radiation such as radiowaves, microwaves, IR light. Furthermore, the Minoskvy particles also interfere and damage electric circuitry due to their high electrical charges, they act like a constant emp when in contact with metal objects. In order to defend against minovsky particles interference with electrical circuits, expensive and heavy shielding is required. Moreover, all mobile suits emit minovsky particles due to their Minovsky Ultracompact Fusion Reactors. Combine all of these together and targeting systems would be far too expensive and ineffective to be of any real use.
@@nobodyscomment929 Couldn't that be solved by just making the targetting computer a device wired to the cannon but not in direct contact with it? What is the effective range of these particles? Don't know diddly about Gundam so this kind've stuff and the in universe reasonings seem interesting. Like you could wire sensors to specific parts of the wreckage to specifically test for the emission of these particles which sends a wired response to the device; the question therin lies again how far out they scramble sensor equipment.
@@spacehitler4537 That would be an extremely expensive solution though as the wire(s) connecting the gun to the targeting system would also need to be insulated. Additionally, this is space we're talking about the particles could be scattered over hundreds of thousands kilometers due to fighting meaning you'd have to make a wire hundred of thousand kilometer long which is not only a resource dump but also potentially a weakness that can be exploited as it would only take one mobile suit to either cut or shoot the wire to severe the connection. Additionally, the targeting system would be effectively useless still as the particles will still interfere with any microwaves/radiowaves/IR light the targeting system maybe using to find targets.

To be fair, by this point in the war everyone’s probably heard of Amuro and his friends beating the odds with the power of friendship. Everyone just thinks they’ll be the next hero
@@slufffyg503 propaganda amiright
Probably closer to say the feds were keeping the living dead division contained in the thunderbolt sector, this is pretty late in the OYW so the battles of Solomon and A Baoa Qu are probably happening during the events of this, and letting these barely trained teens be sacrificed to ensure a hardened veteran division can’t reinforce Zeon for either battle would be important, essentially stacking the deck.
I just realized we never get a kit for this MS
Always make sure to lock your doors
I always thought it was kinda weird to use a Dom as a sniper MS. Felt like a waste of its potential.
Looking like a Space Faring Tropen.
This has to be the only series, where the gundam on the cover is the bad guy
Erm how is he bad guy? He have a blood lust personality unlike most gundam pilot but he didnt do anything that makes him bad.
He didnt kill children, kill innocent or anything. He just fought war but with a personality that is rare for gundam pilots.
Neither Io or Daryl are bad guys.
there isnt really a bad guy in gundam well gundam UC era to be exact . its just the gundams pilot in thunderbolt has ALOT more bloodlust than any other gundam pilot

I wonder what happened to that captured Rick Dom from the beginning.
Love how they're all laughing into Fleming took one of em out
true when io opened the doms door and killed the pilot the rest of the squad saw that and they were reall quiet after that encounter
We need more thunderbolt kits
I didn't know we can easily sneak into dom cockpit and kill the pilot...
I really love the scream of Federation SCUMS! Zieg Zeon!!

Wonder why bandai refused to make the hg version alongside the other thunderbolt ms
i wonder why they haven't made any other MGs
Well the kits released during the first season's airing were just recolours of previous released kits made to promote the manga. Thunderbolt didn't get any new kits until season 2's Atlas and Gundam Ground Type.
Simple answer? HG Thunderbolt never sold well. The designs were too expensive for most so non protaganist suits like the TB Zaku 1 and TB Ground S Type really suffered.
@@neonlightillusion Thunderbolt stuff IS pretty elaborate so i see what you mean.
The Psycho Zaku had a parts count you'd se on an RG, particularly all those gold thrusters the MS is littered with.
Why most ms pilot in thunderbolt are somehow better than other ms pilot from other series, or at least that is from my opinion

so did Io opened the cockpit hatch or is it Hoover? if its the former then the security sucks.
Io, there is probably an acces panel to open the hatch in case of emergency.
@@jhhkthecollector7635 need to watch Thunderbolt again but I had the impression Io tricked Hoover into opening the hatch there, neutralized him and then commandeered the Rick Dom for sabotage and reverse engineering
