It's a shame that the comments are full of people offended that you considered the light-skinned Imazighen of North Africa to be original Imazighe. I find it quite ironic how many African Americans complain by pointing out the skin color of others when that is the first thing that the first anti-racism activists tried to combat: judging others by the color of their skin. I never imagined that they judge others the same way they are judged for having dark skin.
No one in the world is 100% original native to a place, because that is a human construct. No culture is completely immutable and humanity has always mixed since we emerged as a species. Thanks to all this we prosper.
It is totally wrong to demand purism at all human levels when in reality they do not exist, never existed and never will exist.
The light-skinned Amazigh are Amazigh native to North Africa, period. Treating them as non-native invaders is a lack of respect for their identities. Then African Americans complain that white supremacists in the United States call them the same thing. Is a shame that instead of considering them African brothers, they end up calling them various derogatory names just for having white skin, a real shame.

The various European people who invaded / occupied North Africa, (. Greeks , Romans and Byzantines ) including the Vandals, but also the Arabian and Turkish occupation, as well as the French iand Spanish, and we cannot forget the penchant ( taste ) Arabs and Turks had for white women : all of these things altered the culture and people of North Africa, the original indigenous stock of North Africa was indeed what we called sub-Saharan Africa today but over the course of centuries there was a lot of interbreeding between the true indigenous people and the new arrivals, which resulted in the people we see occupying these lands today

And to Parry your comment even further, it would be how the Spanish people view people from the Dominican Republic, who considered themselves to be Spanish, but in reality started out as African slaves, (which in all totality, is a direct correlation to what happened in North Africa, and the subject we are discussing now) the Dominican view is not a reciprocal feeling embraced by the Spanish. The largest populations of descendants of African slaves in the Western hemisphere, that would be Brazil and the US, identify as African, despite, (""US"" ) having some amount of European DNA , just not to the degree that Dominicans have. In closing, it all depends on the percentage of certain DNA. ie, this is exactly what happened to the sub African population in Northern Africa

Berbers are europeans who come to africa in large numbers after 1000bce. The first berber civilization was the phoenicians who colonized northwest africa and founded carthage. After 1000 bce egypt collapsed to the berber meshwesh dynasty egypt . Also the mande civilization of dhar tichitt collapsed after 1000 bce right when the guanches appeared on the canary islands. The guanches look exactly like europeans but are related to berbers. The mande dhar tichitt civilization lasted from 2000 bce and ended 1000 bce. archaeologist say there is evidence berber migration ended dhar tichiitt. Mande west africans had civilization all over north west africa 2000 years before the first berber civilizations.

@@AfroArtistaFilms The Aterian is associated with early Homo sapiens at a number of sites in Morocco. While the Jebel Irhoud specimens were originally noted to have been similar to later Aterian and some Iberomaurusian specimens, further examinations revealed that the Jebel Irhoud specimens are similar to them in some respects but differ in that the Jebel Irhoud specimens have a continuous supraorbital torus while the Aterian and Iberomaurasian specimens have a discontinuous supraorbital torus or in some cases, none at all, and from this, it was concluded that the Jebel Irhoud specimens represent archaic Homo sapiens while the Aterian and Iberomaurusian specimens represent anatomically modern Homo sapiens. The 'Aterian' fossils also display morphological similarities with the early out of Africa modern humans found at Skhul and Qafzeh in the Levant, and they are broadly contemporary to them.
      Fleming et al. (2013) stated:

Berber is a language and culture, not a race or skin color and originates in East Africa not Europe. But of course Europeans (and this video) will not tell you this and try to pretend that "berber" is exclusively associated with light or white skin. Which is implying it originated with it originated with Eurasian migration into North Africa and that is completely false. And they also use genetics to reinforce this by focusing exclusively on populations close to the coast, in order to associate Eurasian genes with the origin and spread of Berber languages. Not to mention they totally omit and downplay the spread of Greeks, Romans, Europeans and Arabs in more recent times.
The spread of Berber languages is associated with the spread of pastoralists and other populations across the Sahara from East Africa about 6,000 years ago. In fact, the origin of most neolithic traditions in North Africa is in the ancient Sahara and Sahel, including early agriculture, pottery and pastoralism. That is also not Eurasian in origin. And the rock art across the Sahara is proof of this, along with all he various neothithic and pastoral sites they have found. And that reinforces the fact that the language Amazigh is an Afro Asiatic language, which has its main homeland in East Africa. And haplogroup E-M81 derives from haplogroup E-M35 which comes from the Horn of Africa.
And black Africans have been in North Africa for hundreds of thousands of years and over time have evolved many different features especially in areas close to Europe, with variation in skin tones that are indigenous (similar to populations in East Africa and the horn). But in coastal North Africa you have had mixing with Eurasians on a continual basis over the last 5,000 years. And this includes many Berbers who now are in Europe (especially France) and have European mates. So please, it is obvious that parts of North Africa close to Europe would have mixture but that proximity to Europe is not where Berber language or culture originates. And historically white skin has not been the primary phenotype of North Africans especially across the Sahara going back 10,000 years ago when it was wet. And it is the Sahara where ancient Berber culture originates not along the coasts of the Mediterranean.
And no, Sheshonq was not an Amazigh as there is no proof that he spoke a Berber language. He part of the tribes of ancient Libya called Meshwesh but there is no evidence of what language they spoke. And it has always been implied that because they are depicted with light skin, they represent the origin of Berber language and culture, which again is false. They are just an ancient coastal population who happened to be lighter skinned but are not the origin of Berber languages and culture.

White skin originated in Central Asia, 10,000 to 8,000 years ago [8,000 to 6,000 BC].
There is no way that these people, with European or Central Asian phenotypes, are products of indigenous developments of the African geography and climate.
Their phenotype would not have developed without admixture or in some instances, complete replacement, by people bearing phenotypes that originated in more recent times in Central Asia.
They may bear indigenous haplogroups, such as yDNA E, but that doesnt change the fact that they no longer reflect the image of the True Indigenous people of North Africa.
Look at the mummy of Uan Muhuggiag, found in Libya. The mummified child is an indigenous black African.
It is not until we get closer to the period of the Bronze Age Collapse that "white people" in the context of North Africa begin to be portrayed in recorded history.
These "Libyans" depicted in Egyptian Art are likely related to the Sea Peoples from the Mediterranean or even further north.
    Again, not indigenous to Africa.

Both skeletal/cranial and DNA studies by other authors confirm that some Neolithics did not derive from the Near East. They most likely resembled African populations. Hence comparisons using older European Neolithics versus Africans are comparisons with older prehistoric Europeans who looked more like Africans, than modern 'white' Europeans, as shown by Brace (2005), and Hanihara (1996) also, who states "Early West Asians looked like Africans."
"The absence of mtDNA haplogroup J in the ancient Portuguese Neolithic sample suggests that this population was not derived directly from Near Eastern farmers. The Mesolithic and Neolithic groups show genetic discontinuity implying colonisation at the Neolithic transition in Portugal." (CHANDLER, H.; SYKES, B.; ZILHÃO, J. (2005) - Using ancient DNA to examine genetic continuity at the Mesolithic-Neolithic transition in Portugal, in ARIAS, P.; ONTAÑÓN, R.; GARCÍA-MONCÓ, C. (eds.) - «Actas del III Congreso del Neolítico en la Península Ibérica», Santander, Monografías del Instituto Internacional de Investigaciones Prehistóricas de Cantabria 1, p. 781-786.)
"Early Europeans still resembled modern tropical peoples - some resemble modern Australian and Africans, more than modern Europeans.. Nor does the picture get any clearer when we move on to the Cro-Magnons, the presumed ancestors of modern Europeans. Some were more like present-day Australians or Africans, judged by objective anatomical observations." (Christopher Stringer, Robin McKie (1998). African Exodus. Macmillan, p. 162)

      Then there is this.
      quote-
African peoples are the most diverse in the world whether analyzed by
DNA or skeletal or cranial methods. The peoples of the Nile Valley
      quote-
Simplistic "race percentage" models are dubious in Africa which has
the highest genetic diversity in the world. That diversity proceeded
from deeper sub-Saharan Africa, to East and N.E. Africa, then to the
rest of the globe. All other populations, including Europeans and
"Middle easterners" carry this diversity which was built into Africa
to begin with. Africans thus don't need any "race mix" to look
different. Their diversity is built-in and supplied the whole globe.
Any returnees or "backflow" to Africa looked like Africans, including
      Europeans. (Brace 2005, Hanihara 1996, Holliday 2003).
      and quote-
African people have a range of physical variation and don't need
inspiration or mixes from cold-climate/light skinned Europeans or
Asiatics to explain why. Features like narrow noses, thin lips, height
etc are all indigenous to Africa. Africa has both the highest
phenotypic diversity and the highest genetic diversity in the world
and don’t need cold-climate/light skin inspiration for that
established fact. All cold-climate/light skinned Europeans and
Asiatics are SUBSETS of original African diversity. Modern DNA studies
find even though some African peoples look different, they are
genetically related through the PN2 transition clade of the
      Y-chromosome. Thus light-skinned African Libyans and dark-skinned
Zulus are all genetically related Africans, even though they don't
look exactly the same. (Keita 2004; Tishkoff 2002, Ely et al, 2006,

Misinformed research. The real indigenous north Africans are very very black. The Maure, Tebu, Nubians, Siwa Egyptians, Sa'hidi Egyptians, Haratin, Umuhagh, Zanaga and their ancestors were all Black as shown on the 11 yo rock paintings ect ect. These people as you pointed out have a lot of Arab or European admixture, despite the indigenous genetic markers. STR loci would look deeper than genetic markers and easily reveal this fact. Very light(aka white) skin is not indigenous/autochthonous to any part Africa, it is from central Asia. Light (white)skin genes SLC45A2 and SLC24 A5 came from central Asia, and spread all over the world in migrations starting 8000 years ago. These are genes that people inherit via sexual selection, so it is an inherited Asiatic feature from central Asia. Due to back migrations for over 5000 years, anyone in Africa can display a certain amount of the gene mutation activation, creating unique skin shades of light, light brown, brown, and dark brown skin tones of black phenotypes. So it's not an adaptation. North Africans have that most of this gene, from very recent admixtures hence being white. YDNA haplo group E, an indigenous African group. MTDNA haplo group L, is indigenous to Africa. The Anatolian farmers have ancestry from east Africa prior to 15k BC. The Maure tribe still look like horners. So they are a culture/linguistic group only.

Not only that, but you are also wrong about the age and coalescence of the light skin mutation, which is 22,000-28,000 years old! Go and read the 'Light skin' article in full and update your information! East Asians for instance have a completely different mutations/alleles for their depigmentation evolution.

You cannot be Indigenous to Africa if you are not what we would consider a Black African. Lighter skin colors than what we deem the Black race are mutations of dark skin, which is older, especially in modern humans. Whiteness in modern humans is believed to have originated in the Turkey, Pakistan, India region and is a relatively new mutation. White North Africans or pale skin North Africans are a result of breeding out Blackness, import of White slaves, Arab and European conquest and migration.

The geography of Africa does not define its blackness. People did not change colour, or features, soon as stepping off the continent. Races were evolving as they moved north, west and south from central Africa, family groups breaking off, moving away and taking their genetics with them. These became new races. African races were diverse long before crossing into Eurasia. North Africa and the Middle East were never ‘subsaharan African’.
Hannibal was not ‘Negroid’, (to use an objectionable word).
