This video is about the Meru people of Central Kenya. The Meru are one of the largest ethnic groups in Kenya, with a population of over 2 million people. Their home region of Meru and Tharaka Nithi counties lies on the fertile lands of the north and eastern slopes of Mount Kenya in the former Eastern Province. Their region is the farthest the Bantu expansion has ever reached.
It is believed that they are descendants of the Bantu-speaking groups that migrated southward from West Central Africa, particularly Cameroon. The Bantu expansion brought them initially to the Kenyan coast, from where further migration inward brought them to the highlands of Mount Kenya.
The slopes of Mount Kenya, where the Meru live, are some of the most beautiful and fertile lands in Africa. The Meru region is covered with trees and is indeed breathtakingly beautiful. Within the Meru region, you will find forests, rivers, the second highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kenya, lush rolling wheat farms, beautiful green tea plantations, and serene rural landscapes full of warm, hospitable people. The capital city of Meru is Meru Town, a bustling, beautiful city that is one of Kenya’s fastest-growing cities. Due to its location on the slopes of Mount Kenya , the city enjoys a relatively temperate and cool climate that is a joy to experience.
Geography, natural beautiful women, no pork, entrepreneurship, fast driving, respect for elders and marriage between male and female💯
For 5 years, I studied at Meru University- Meru County is beautiful. With beautiful people.
I can remember how loving the landlords were kind. Such a wealthy community.
I am African ..... specifically West African but these are my people. Colonisation separated us. One Africa.
Are you from cameroon
@@isaiahmwereru8833: I usually try to refrain from identifying myself by the country that the Europeans colonised, renamed and exploited. I prefer to identify myself by my tribe ..... as a country can always be renamed or reconstituted (like the Gold Coast to Ghana, Zaire to DRC or Rhodesia to Zimbabwe etc) but one's tribe will always remain the same. I am Yoruba, a people found mainly in Nigeria but also in Benin and Togo. What is your tribe?

I am a Meru.Born there schooled their and now living in Nairobi. My father has 17 kids with three wives.I am the first born to the third wife and second last born out of the seventeen kids. Our cash crop miraa provided for all our needs from food to schooling all the way to the university. Our ladies are the most loyal breed i know.I always advice my close friends to marry one.As of men we are quick tempered and sweet all at the level. For our ascent you will always know one.
Good to know
Mr Cocktails, what's the chance of a South African marrying one of your girls?,please let me know the cost and procedure.
True,true true.
I have a girl from meru, I always doubted her loyalty, because girls where I'm from are usually liars... I am just now learning about her culture after 1 year, to help me figure things out. She is exactly the type of woman described in this video 👏

the good thing about meru pple is that they are caragious and pure honest pple
Honest 😅
Hi Hasan,Thanks you for this awesome video about the menu people, it is very Imfromotive love ❤️ and peace
Their Kimeru language is true that sounds more melodic than Kiswahili. It reminds me a bit of the Lingala!!! 😉
It sounds like as a language that came immediately from the Cameroonian western highlands, without significant influences.
Kiswahili is based on Arabic - with some Bantu & a little Portuguese - from the Arab controlled East African Islamic slave trade -
Lovely❤❤. No wonder Meru people are so cute because the diverse mixture. Video is so accurate the few kimeru 🇰🇪 ns i have met are good people
So true!

Love my Meru people. I'm from neighboring Kikuyu land but one of my best friends is a Meru. Through him I've been lucky to spend a lot of time in Meru county. Colonizers came down hard on the Gikuyu, Embu & Meru with an iron fist because of our strong resistance movement. So we have a shared history. I often wonder why the sound of your language is so similar to the Kisii, another area where I spent time with the said Meru friend. Yet geographically you're half a thousand kilometers apart. If _Murungu_ grants me a Meru wife, who am I to refuse?
Very true,Meru women are the best.

my fiancé is Meru. av always wondered why shes tall and pretty. now i understand some of her genetics
I am a Meru and this feature missed some critical and fundamental issue : The Ameru people are a make up for various sub groups ; imenti , tigania , tharakas, mwimbi , chukas , muthambi etc . Miraa only grows in a few areas of merus .. other crops are Potatoes ( unique varieties grown in meru) , horticultural crops ( leading area for that , sorghum , finger millet , barley , coffee , tea etc not just miraa .. then the temper is issue is just a stereotype , yes most Merus are non nonesense and quick to react to being taken for ... but i also now some Merus who are as calm as a cucumber .. that is a stereotype
Wow am a meru and this is the best thing I have watched in centuries ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

According to oral tradions Meru & kisii are twin brothers originating from the same mom and dad. Their language is almost similar to the kisii people and kuria.
Yes. We are related. My brothers have married three women from Meru
My grandson is definitely going for a Meru lady I will make sure of that❤❤❤❤
The ancestral leader of the meru has a very intriguing name. Mugwe. This name is reminiscent of the many African names of our various God's. In Swahili language Mungu is a powerful God. Then there's muntu also a God. Some pronounce it as montu. But all of these variations are all having the same articulation of nature. Mugwe, Mungu, montu/muntu, etc
Please get me a wife.from there.

Here we've kawira, makena, nkirote etc can't much with that of mlima meru at all.
I was born Meru Kenya. Not Tanzania and they don’t look as beautiful as that. We Merus are out here.
I've been in both close to meru and been also in Tanzania for a while too. What I can tell you is that the people of East Africa are balanced. Some regions in some countries are varied in the beauty of women. There are places in Tanzania that have very beautiful women. As well as in Kenya.
As for Kenya 🇰🇪, the kikuyu are widely known in the world. But they're known for their popularity in politics and nothing else. However they like to brag about being beautiful in Kenya.
Truth is that the MERU of Kenya 🇰🇪 are by far more beautiful than the kikuyu. Kikuyus are just average.
The Ameru of Tanzania are very very beautiful.
Beautiful women
Yes they are
If I woke up one day and found am not Meru, I would rather die 🤣
From the map at 2:08 and from their features, it seems that they have mixed with Somalis, too. Their region is right next to Ougaden, which is historically Somali.
They say Merus are 30 - 40 % Cushitic.
Possible to share the source of the @3:36 DNA study. I will appreciate.

They're close to Kisii than Kikuyu
Because they are all Bantu
@@Ryma380 no, they are not so call Bantu and stop that false narrative created by slave master. Their is no such thing as Bantu people .Due to the small similarity linguistic, does not make people to be one group of ethnic. We all Bantu include Caucasian man. Bantu mean humankind not ethnicity. Beside that most East Africa tribes are admixture of Nilotic, so call Bantu and Cushitic, which include Meru,Kisii,Kamba,Tutsi,Kikuyu,Hima,Hutu,Massai,Karijini,Bagande,Samburu...
What is mawi?

They look like us, Black Americans. A lot of Black Americans are E1B1A: descendants of the Biblical Jacob. E1B1B is his twin brother: Edom/ Esau. These Meru ppl are our genetic cousins. We are Ameru- khans. Ancient Khemet was down in that region. U.S. President Obama has family ties to Kenya. Israel claims that area , in Africa, for its Greater Israel Project. I just got goosebumps... I want to meet my family members all around the world now. How do we do this??? E1B1A wants to meet E1B1B😃
I didn't know that we Merus have so much Cushitic DNA.
All the people who live in the land of PUNT(EAST AFRICA) have been known or actually have the cushitic bloodline and in its originality.
They don't, it's the kikuyu, look on Wikipedia, the creator mixed it up.
not totally true..cuz of exiles, drifting, mixing/ mingling, originality, etc...there's other ppls in those lands@@mboyatut4033

The music is produced by me. I'm an amateur music producer 😎

Meru Region is where also khat comes from .
Notice that the Meru are on the edge bordering the Cushites. There's evidence of DNA relationship with Ethiopian people due to proximity.

@@AfroArtistaFilms please research about our language , cause we are linguistically related to the Meru people and also our genetics , our strong and bulky bodies , and research about our temper cause we are high tempered
Ameru just like their brothers, the Agikuyu and Embu came from Kemet, that is why they have Cushite DNA. Scrap that West African migratory theory. It was invented by the European to hide the fact that the Bantu were Kemites.
Nothing to hide, but folks probably may have came from Cameroon ,linguistic flow of their languages reveal it,,they are once one big family,,love from 🇹🇿🇹🇿
@@josephkiwale374 The Cameroon Theory was one presented by the European. It was poorly researched and had little evidence. One major obstacle that is still apparent to this day is the fact that you cannot walk across the Congo basin. You will have a very difficult time crossing huge rivers, which number in the thousands, and jungles that are impenetrable. Walking a kilometer in this thick forest will take you several hours, as you have to clear tons of vegetation, and deal with untold predators. Secondly, if you live in the lush jungles on the Congo Basin, why would you want to migrate from such a place of abundance. The Congo / Cameroon theory is simply not true.
@@Dan13Speed so may be help me why bantu languages have huge similarities linguistically, even though speakers are in different geographical location,,what make this damn similarities??
@@josephkiwale374 I speak the Agikuyu language. My nation is located around the sacred mountain we call Kerinyaga. This word was very difficult for the European to pronounce so he botched the word, and it is. today known as Kenya. Many words in the Agikuyu language point to ancient Kemet. One example is our almighty. He is known as the Murungu. This word mean underlord, or lord of the underworld. This is similar to Osiris or Osa in Kemet, who is the God of the Afterlife. The God of the dead. In contrast Jesus is the Lord of the living, yet we only live 60 or 70 years on average, so when you die, you meet the real God, Osa, because the afterlife is for eternity. The Bantu, are a huge language group of nearly a billion people, and yes , we have many similarities. Not much has been written on these similarities, however, the little we know, points to a people that have a long historic past that pre dates Kemet and Sumeria.
My tribe Glory To God .
Wow, how blessed you are! I Love your people!
Question! Is Meru lingo similar to kikuyu? I detect similarities! No wonder! I

They are like bahima in Uganda or tutsi rwandan
Because their are all admixture of Nilotic, Cushitic and Bantu. That's make East African community countries so unique.Bahima or Banyankole,Bagande,Tutsi ,Hutu,Kikuyu, meru,Massai ....all are admixture of the Major Africa ethnics and I'm very proud to be one of them. It's very wrong to say Meru,Kikuyu,hutu,Bagane,... are bantu because their are admixture of Nilotic,Bantu and Cushitic.
We have merus in Uganda if I am not mistaken..
