      Your teacher is paying attention! This is more accurate than I have ever seen in a classroom...not that there was much African history in my HS classes, in the 1990s! We need to see all of the racism BS, today, for what it is(political agenda) and move on from it for good. Classrooms require a balance of classic, medieval, and ancient history, from the entire world. It's a beginning of building respect and administration for people who are different, or even for your own people!

      Hello, I am just here to give you some facts, the ones who took you were the participants of the trans-saharan s|ave trade, which was going on for centuries before the Europeans even made contact. The participants were Arabs and large African Kingdoms who ens|aved surrounding weaker tribes and desolated entire eareas. Europeans would then come to the coast, where the participants of the trans-saharan trade would trade their s|aves for Europeans goods.

    • @VladTepes-SaviorofEurope-mw4uy
      @VladTepes-SaviorofEurope-mw4uy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Africans that had gold would trade gold for European goods, areas that had no natural resources would trade people for European goods. It wasn't until the abolitionist movement and a treatment for Malaria was discovered that Europeans actually entered Africa and established colonies who's main purpose was to abolish s|avery, but of course traders ended up taking advantage of the local popualtion and resources.

    I'm from the Congo "bakongo" few years ago my grandfather told us of his uncle and his uncles friend who traveled to do business in the neighboring town and never came back. They asked everyone in that neighboring town but they all said that they left few days ago, slave trade was very common during those times so the whole family feared that they've been taken. They never stopped searching for them and up until now my grandfather who's in his early 90s still asks us his grandkids to continue spreading this message hoping that one day he'll hear some good news.

      You have a rich name and I'm proud of your dad for so naming you. Us Yorubas attach 1000% importance to names and we never joke with it.
      All my 3 lovely children have rich Yoruba names, given both by myself, after 8 days of deep reflection and also from my parents too....they have English names, but will never identify with them...those holds absolutely no meaning to me or them. We need to teach REAL history to people. And that goes for EVERYBODY. We need to teach what really happened throughout history, and stop trying to distort it, change it, or omit it, in order to not offend people, or tell people what they want to hear.

The middlemen were also subjected to deceit. No one was without capture and middlemen from history several rebellious attempts against the Europeans. You may want to dig in deeper and look up historians like Walter Rodney and read sins of fathers James pope Hennessy. You need additional resources to stand on what you said.

It would be simple to ignore such a misconception if it were merely held by the bigoted oppressors, but the racist historical experience has implanted the same negative self-evaluation in the minds of many Africans, and especially in the minds of the imitative African petty bourgeoisie.” I will forever quote this historian as well as author. He was assassinated...should assassins you ask you know. There were authors as well forced to change the narrative and Blame slave trade on African chiefs such as James pope Hennessy-"sins of our fathers. Yes a known fact historians were told to focus on the native Africans being the main contributors of the slave trade. Dahomey, Benin, Mali, Songhai, and Yoruba Empires where great participants in the Slavery Trade hence ought to be on top 3. The Long Juju Of Aro Chukwu, the Igbo tribe, surfaced at the tail end of the trade hence short lived. The Fulanis had limited access to the Atlantic Ocean thus their Slave trading activities were mainly with the Arabs via the Sahara Deserts. A Great summary of a Research work. A+

I could be in a store and be the only black person there. I remember visiting the US almost 10 years after I’d been living in Canada and seeing black people in Detroit. If you're black nobody from Detroit was freaked out by your presence. Black people are use to seeing other black people in a city like Detroit. Canada is not America and I believe the black population there is no more than 2 to 3 percent. and Though America has never been more than 13 percent black,. Detroit is a city that has a high concentration of black folks. So it would seem like there are more than a 12 to 13 percentage of blacks there and that we all live in Detroit, MI in the States, which isn't true. This video was really good! Good to hear some discussion of the Congo trade. The discussion often focusses on the West African trade, but Congo was a truly horrific free-for-all of slave raiding and it deserves to be discussed more. Congo had the double misery of domestic slavery after the international trade too, where the Europeans enslaved Congolese people in Congo for rubber

Christianity and Islam is not Black people's religions, that's why is important to know who is saviour and our Prophet, Mfumu Kimbangu Mvuluzi, through him all blacks will be blessed.

    Your research and storytelling paints a full picture of Africa as an independent territory with its own history. I'm going to use a lot of this as my own source material when I teach my students. Last year had a bunch of 6th graders (all white, I taught in Finland last year) and I gave them a sneak peak to some of this history, for example by telling them about Mansa Musa and his kingdom, but I knew already that I needed to study a lot more. Thank you for making it easy!
    Btw, if someone is curious how would a bunch of 50 white kids react to African pre-colonial history, they were HYPED. We had this goal of decolonizing history together and we covered China, India, Africa and South America as much as we could (in the limited time I have with a bunch of sixth graders). They were SO excited to learn, related strongly to the different stories we discussed and I hope it affects their view of the world for the rest of their lives...
