Yes. In the world of the Transformers, stranger things have happened. So I am hoping to see the DJD in a toy line. Hire's how I see there classes in figures.
Legends class: Nickel. Agent 113, renamed, Spike Fox.
Delux class: Kaon. Vos.
Voager class: Tarn.
Leader class: Tesarur. Helex.
Can we please get the basics on silver bolt
I would love to see a Shattered Glass version of the DJD, maybe have them be anger management counselors or psychiatrists. You could even have Kaon turn into a comfy couch.

Ohhhh, yes! I've always wanted to see the DJD and Wreckers fight (not sure if they ever did, I'm behind on the comics) but Shattered Glass DJD and Wreckers would be the best.
-Tarn's music boosts his allies and raises morale
-Kaon turns into a couch, and can release energy that calms people down
-Helex has an oven that he cooks cookies in and he likes to headpat people
-Tesarus has a Time Out Box on his torso, that does nothing, just works as a time off.
-Vos is an artistic individual, prefering subjects drawing how they feel and transforms into an electronic artistic set, a drawing pad basically
-the Pet is a mistreated beast mode autobot that they are treating well and trying to fix his T-Cog
-Nickel is basically the same, but much more grumpy, hiding her care for them.

I liked Tarn's personality in the comics. Although he was brutal, he had charm and charisma, even if beneath it all, was filled with thoughts of insecurity and doubt.

Also if Beast Wars can get away with Tarantulas being a cannibal, Rampage being a serial killer, as well as Arachnid from Prime, you never know.

As for rampage he had *quite* the reputation, to the point that the Axalons main mission aside from exploration was disposing of him on an uninhabited planet

I get what Roberts was going for with Tarn's true identity, but I really feel like the idea of him being a "nobody" would have been much stronger if he had literally been someone we'd never seen before...
Be honest: How often did you think of Glitch outside of his appearances in the past? Action Master Glitch is as much as a _nobody_ as you could get in G1 Transformers!

@@evanbao93 You can actually see him in the background of a lot of scenes where it's red herring-ing Roller, and there's enough clues to indicate where his motives come from. I would have liked to see some more concrete events following the reveal but say la vey.

@@g0ldenant I'd say that out of the rest of the team, Vos (the rifle guy), and nickel are the most likely to get figures, kaon being the least likely (because he turns into an electric chair.), I still want all of the team, but i doubt Hasbro will make the rest of them, and if Hasbro does, they'd have to change some of the alt-modes Kaon in particular, or do that and then make it where you can get em' into a "command chair" or something along those lines.
I agree. Just got him today, and he's a good, solid figure with a neat transformation too. I've only transformed him once and I love him already.

0:39 “traitors and transgressors” I’m surprised that they haven’t killed or encountered Starscream.
Starscream was on there, but the DJD like to go in order. The only times that they did not were Overlord & Megatron because they outright stopped being Decepticons and were insanely powerful. Additionally Megatron liked keeping Starscream around, not because he was stupid, but so that he never let his guard down. Starscream also paid the Combaticons to guard him in the event that he was pursued by the DJD. While the DJD would cut through the Combaticons like butter (since they could not combine into Bruticus at this point) it would still make Tarn plan more carefully, since he actually cares for his troops.

Jonathan Delgado what’s worse is that it’s characters that ultimately don’t contribute much to the overall plot. Cliffjumper just barely edging it out because of the memorable moment of his brutal death and being the first Terrorcon. Tailgate literally just a repainted corpse of Cliffjumper and Seaspray we don’t even get to see him, just his ship blowing up.
You need information, what do you do, torture them? Pshhh, nah, just bring the DJD, they'll know what to do. But seriously, sweet solus Prime! These guys are insane!
And that's why megs ended up slaughtering them. My only doubt it's if in the IDW comics megatron stayed as an autobot or returned to the leadership of the decepticons
Torture doesn't work for information gathering. It's purely a tool for inflicting pain and fear.
...Which is exactly why all five of these torture experts are in the DJD. They're there to keep the Decepticons terrified.

The Wreckers already have two teams as there arch-nemesis. The Mayhem Attack Squadron and Squadron X. I think it would be more interesting to see them against the Power Master. The group from the Zone franchise, not the people who need engines.

After so many years, The legendary DJD commander finally got the official mainline toy.

Never heard of these guys until your tweet announcement so while I was very excited and still am to see a wholly new TF concept after finishing this...good lord this group is horrifying.
And Im very amused at how it shows how varied the TF franchise is. On one extreme you have the likes of Rescue Bots and Aligned RiD. In the middle you got the likes of G1, the Bumblebee movie and Beast Wars. Then on the other extreme you have the 1986 movie, Overlord, and the DJD.

Some robots who share appearance with Tarn have appeared at the end of the most recent episode of Cyberverse season 3.
3 years later tarn gets an offical hasbro figure. And it is insane looking. Its almost perfect
One thing I feel IDW missed out on, was to do spotlights on the other DJD members or maybe 5 issues (inc: Tarn) one shots of them one by one. I felt the other main 4 members: Vos Kaon, Tesaurus and helix didnt have much page time in the mtmte comics apart from Tarn and nickel. A missed opportunity to develop their characters imo.

Agreed!! Even though the two really had nothing in common with one another other than their name and Appearance, it was Great to See Tarn Make his first official animated appearance. Hopefully will get some more IDW characters next like Blackwall or Prya Magna.

MMC also released Helex a couple of months ago. They have made perfect renditions of all of these characters.
I am more interested in the Wreckers and they have released several of these but there are still a lot they haven't done.

I loved how their introductory comic issue was titled "Who's afraid of the DJD" scans perfectly to "Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" kid's song.
I'd see the DJD more likely to appear in the War For Cybertron Netflix series, probably later down the line, especially since it's geared towards an older audience.

I think if the wreckers could get toy appearances, we could also get some djd toys. At least I hope we could. They did an Overlord fully knowing what he's like in the comics! C'mon at least give us Nickel, you cowards!
With the Wreckers (except for Impactor), and Overlord, they were toys first and the ideas came later. Not so with DJD.
That said, Nickel totally needs to be a toy so I can slowly put together the Scavengers (do an episode on them!)

Even as someone who considers themselves to be a big nerd on Transformers I had no idea these guys existed until my friend told me about them like last week.
I have an idea for how the D.J.D could become toys in some future toy line-
Tarn- Tarn would be a lot like Megatron to an extent. He’d have his dual fusion cannon and his creepy Symbol Mask, but nothing really big. He’d transform into his tank mode, as per normal, and would be a leader class.
Kaon: Kaon wouldn’t be that big a change either. He’d transform into his normal Electric Chair, and would have Lightning effects, and a Sparkeater as an accessory. He’d be a Voyager class.
Helex: Now, this is where things get a bit interesting. He would be a leader class transformer, and he’d be able to fit Legends class into his smelting pool, which would be able to light up. He’d transform into what he normally does and all his arms would be articulated.
Tesarus: He’d be a Leader Class as well, with the same function as Helex. He’d have to articulative arms to grab Legends class and bring them into his chest, which could spin using a special switch.
Vos: Alrighty, Vos is where the entirety of this comes together. He’d be a Deluxe class, seeing as he turns into a sniper rifle. His face wouldn’t be removable, at least with out some... editing... however it definitely would work!
If anyone wants to know what I’d think of Nickel, she’d be a Legends class, so she could fit in Tesarus’ chest. Anyways, there ya go!

I think Vos would be the easiest to tone down enough to where they could make a toy out of him.
They did it with Megatron, who originally turned into a gun, and with Sixshot, and thus, Quickswitch and Greatshot, so as far as I see it, nothing wrong with doing the same with Vos.

I would be extremely surprised if Hasbro releases an IDW accurate Kaon.
In the Beast Wars Uprising Universe Punch infiltrated the DJD as Counterpunch. It is unknown what his codename was. However we do know that there was a statue of Counterpunch in Helex that that has been replaced with the words "Helex, Never Forget" suggesting that he was found out.

As far as comic accurate toys go, third party figures may be the best bet
The Autobots in the Lost Light universe kinda have their own counterpart - Star Saber, the Dark Evangelist.
Also, Tarn has one major appearance in cartoons - as the main villain of perhaps the very finale of Transformers: Cyberverse. Eh, he has appeared before that, but as a mere supporting character labeled The Perfect Decepticon (there were many Decepticons who looked like him).
Imagine our surprise when Tarn of all bots showed up in Cyberverse.
I’m so glad the DJD got the Basics treatment! I honestly have never read any of the comics they’re featured in but bought the Mastermind Creations figures on their amazing designs alone. So it was wonderful to get a nice, organized look at their history! Lovely stuff!

Obviously, they are EVERYWHERE (TV, video games and comics), so a basics episode on either of them will be very, VERY long. I'm sure we'll get there eventually.
A two parter would be necessary for them IMO. Maybe save Optimus for Episodes 99 and 100 of the Basics.

Because we're "legacy" named transformers which means our names are everywhere and can never be replaced by a new character for instance ironhide was a legacy character back then but lately he hasn't been a legacy character since RID01 until Michel bay touched the franchise to bring it back to life ironhide came back as a legacy character with his personality from g1 there's already a vid Chris made about this the basics on transformers characters

Great and informative episode. I’ve been hearing about the DJD for years from folks who love the newer comics series. I tried to get into it when it started, but I just couldn’t get into it. Your episode have a great insight into who these characters are. I now have a much better understanding of what they are, and why a lot of fans like them! I always watch your videos every Saturday. Some updates with Tarn is that he is getting a Voyager Class Retail figure in 2023 as part of the Legacy Evolution toyline, and he ended up appearing in a Cyberverse Bumblebbee special episode last year
Crazy that a character like Tarn managed to show up in Cyberverse, and he's even getting a toy in legacy next year

I could see the DJD being made vaguely more kid friendly by retconning them more into generic Spec Ops Decepticons rather than hunting down turncoats specifically.
I did like Tarn's 'cameo' in Cyberverse, or at least his rockin design.
Actually if Shattered Glass ever comes back I'd love the DJD as a group of 'super hero' Decepticons, like the Justice League or something. A far reaching team that operates 'outside' of the chain of command, just going around and foiling the plans of the nasty Autojots
Little did we know that 2 yrs from when this was made, Tarn would make an appearance in Cyberverse, and a little over a year later, he would (FINALLY) get his own official Legacy (FULLY-transforming) figure which is damn-near perfect.😍😍😍

I'm surprised we didn't get these guys, or at least Tarn, in the Siege toy line.. Yeah they'd have to tone them down if they appeared in the show, but getting figures of them would have been amazing!
