@@hoppinggnomethe4154 well, I did not know that. I just re-configured my fixed carry handle upper to a flattop, sans feed ramps to accommodate a match grade barrel fitted with A2 barrel extension. I also replaced float tube with a Geissele rail which is authorized for NRA and CMP Service Rifle Competition. My final mod was replacement of front sight base with a railed gas block. The new upper accommodates a scope nicely yet I can still shoot irons too. Only issue with the detachable carry handle is I have to bury the front sight post to get to 1000 yards.

I find it interesting that when your shooting the AR15 you don't feel the recoil. But when you watch someone shoot the AR15 you can see the kick.

That’s not an A2 because it has a removable carry handle! That makes it an A3/4 variant.

He was not wrong. It is an M16A2 before the military designation. The military's Colt M16A4 prior to the adoption was called "Colt M16A2 R905"
