    Hey!! A beautiful firearm. Reminds me of the M16 we used in US Army Basic Training @ Fort Knox in 1971. It's my bad luck to live in New York State where our Governor is a dictator and our legislators in NYC have decided that the Second Amendment of the US Constitution does not apply to us. I will be part of the exodus from NY to states where they still value the Freedoms that so many have given their lives for. It's such a shame. NY State is a beautiful state and a nice place to live. Our state and local governments have become so onerous and their agenda is to enslave us instead of represent us. LOL with you AR15 A4!!

      Yeah and it's spreading over here into VT. We are still allowed to have whatever, and are still a constitutional carry state. However we can no long "buy" 30rd mags. If you had them before 10/01/18 you're fine. It's the most rediculious law ever, and was really just a feel good measure. It's impossible to enforce, and nobody wants to anyway. It's a huge joke infact. But still. ..used to be Vermont and Alaska were the most gun friendly states. Then we get a RINO governor who ran on NOT changing VTs gun laws, then what? 6 months later he changes them. Is there really any safe state left?

    All of the Colt Ar-15 A4's I've seen lately on the internet are a black matte finish. Yours looks more of a dark grey. Did you just happen to get one that wasn't black ? I hope to get one just like the one you have. Great rifle !! Thanks for the review. Very helpful and informative

    • @generalarmamentcompany

      Starting in the year 2014 colt changed their finish to a matte gray that felt like it was almost like phosphate coated. Prior it was a jet black that was smooth.

  • @charlesludwig9173
    @charlesludwig9173 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting that the rifle would come with a manual for an A2 since the A4’s detachable carry handle sight has a an elevation increment value of .5 MOA vs. the A2’s value of 1 MOA, meaning perhaps some user trouble zeroing the rifle.

    I'm guessing these will be very collectable in the future.

    • @generalarmamentcompany
      @generalarmamentcompany  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They will be, they dont make as many of the A4 rifles as they do the LE6920 M4 carbines. Plus the newer AR15A4 rifles that colt makes have a bar code label engraved in the lower receiver next to the colt address. So the ones made in 2015 and before are even more collectible because of the more traditional look of the markings on the receiver

    one would think the longer 'and stuff would make this gun a tack driver yeah it is a little heavier but really a rifle length ar is was most of us are going to have more fun with as we arnt kicking doors and the need for the shorter rifle really isnt there. Also when u look at our army and stuff um pretty sure alot of troops are still using the 20 inch m16s unless they are kicking doors then they are using the smaller m4 rifles but u see alot of our troops in afganistan with m16s rather then the short rifles probly for the accuracy

    • @generalarmamentcompany
      @generalarmamentcompany  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +droppin plates In more current times the M4 carbine is becoming more frequent for use with troops, they are basically just as accurate with the 1/7 twist and 64 grain bullet out of the 14.5 inch barrel. The 20 inch is still in use too

    • @generalarmamentcompany
      @generalarmamentcompany  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wanted it because it is a Colt AR15 A4. Of course I couldve built an A4. I wanted this specific model from colt for my collection. I didnt want a random rifle that was an A4 configuration. I wanted a Colt A4. Plus this rifle is selling on the private market right now for over 2k. If I had built one from random parts it would barely be worth more than the cost to make it.

    Nice, I have a Colt Match Target HBAR (only named such because of the stupid 1994-2004 AWB). Since it was made in 1997 it has the neutered bolt carrier, no muzzle threads or bayonet lug. Looking at the forge markings Your Colt's upper & lower started life at Cerro Forge and BAFE forged the A4 detachable sight. Ruger and Rock River also use receivers from Cerro Forge.

    • @generalarmamentcompany
      @generalarmamentcompany  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You still have a well made AR15! I always liked the ones with the normal characteristics like the original AR15 SP1 and AR15A2 (R6600). Im very glad that Colt now makes an AR15A4! Cerro Forge is a great forgery and so is BAFE. I forget the names but I always recognize the symbols on the receivers.

    • @the308capital
      @the308capital 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I would trade my Colt HBAR for the 'real deal' AR15A4 like you got if not for one thing...it's the first gun I ever bought. I still like it, a great reminder of an era...an era of the meaningless national AWB. The funniest part is that during the ban no mags could be made with capacities over 10 and even still Colt shipped these Match Target ARs with 9 round mags. Why 9? To please the lawyers (and since they held the federal contracts) they decided to count the round in the chamber as 10. My 9 round mags should be put in a museum next to a copy of Constitutional Amendment 18 as an example of political stupidity and nonsense!

    • @generalarmamentcompany
      @generalarmamentcompany  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha you got that right bro!! I know exactly what you mean when you say it was your first gun you bought, it has a lot of sentimental value to you, I have a handful of guns of my own that im like that with. You can still get another AR15 though. I like to have a modern full size and a modern carbine for my collection. Colt actually made the AR15A4 because of the 50th anniversary of the AR15 because in 1964 Colt released the first AR15 (SP1) to the public. After 2014 they will probably stop making the A4 rifles and just make the carbines since most people buy the carbines. Not too many people nowadays want the full size AR

    • @the308capital
      @the308capital 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** The carbines are handier for most needs, so I can see why the 16" is the best seller. What the average person doesn't realize is that the optimum barrel length for .223/5.56 performance is 20-24 inches. Velocity is the only thing that makes a light 55-62gr bullet effective and 20" barrels produce 3150+ fps. If I wasn't such an AK fan I'd probably pick up the new A4 Colt!

    • @generalarmamentcompany
      @generalarmamentcompany  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im an AK and AR fan, love em both. I feel more comfortable with the AR but my next choice would be an AK74 without a doubt

    I've wanted a full size 20 inch barrel gun for so long.. I bought two 16 inch AR's but once I learned about ballistics, powder burn, wear and tear; it became obvious it's a great weapon if you get it in the proper true full size 20 inch configuration. This is definitely on my must buy list. My only question is does the lockup between the upper and lower stay solid/tight?

    • @generalarmamentcompany
      @generalarmamentcompany  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This specific one has a tight match up between the upper and lower but its normal to have some play. I have 15 colts and 6 other ARs and most have a minimal amount of wobble but its in the design to be that way. I prefer a 11-16 inch barrel personally of course with 77 grain OTM 556 because it gives the best performance even out of shorter barrels. This rifle is purely for my collection because I like the A4 configuration and its made by Colt. Currently im seeing this gun be sold on the private market for over 2k

    • @XxxAtlantaxxX
      @XxxAtlantaxxX 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@generalarmamentcompany I bought two 20 inch AR's before Covid-19. One is a M16A4 and the other is a free float barrel - both from Aero Precision. They also have a tension screw to ensure a snug fit/tight lock up between the upper and lower.

    M4 feed ramps are absolutely useless unless firing full auto

    • @generalarmamentcompany
      @generalarmamentcompany  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      M4 feed ramps and H buffer were only developed because of the use of M855. Regular M193 requires no feed ramps or H buffer. Feed ramps have nothing to do with full auto unless M855 is used without an H buffer, but it is still good to have M4 feed ramps on all carbines even if only semi auto just because it is part of the M4 TDP

    Got a question you may have the answer to. I bought a brand new Colt AR-15 A4 straight from a dealer back in January 2014 but I'm confused as to why my rifle doesn't have an 'F' mark on the left side of the front sight post and also an absence of the 'key hole' forge mark on the right side of the lower, just forward of the trigger area, the way other A4's do. My A4 is dated 12/13 on the barrel which makes it one of the earlier batches of this new rifle.
    I also have a brand new Colt M4 LE6920 and it has both the 'F' mark on the front sight post and the 'key hole' forge mark on the right side of the lower, forward the trigger area. Whats odd is that both sight posts on each rifle are stamped with the standard 'B2' roll mark on the right side of the sight post but the A4 is missing the 'F' mark and key hole forge mark.

    • @generalarmamentcompany
      @generalarmamentcompany  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jake Weston The person that did that front sight must have forget to stamp the F. And thats weird about the missing key hole. maby colt has different forgeries that they get their lowers from

      +Jake Weston Mine is brand new from the dealer and it does not have the "F" mark on the sight. I compared the front sight to the 6920 and the one on the A4 looks much thinner. Is anyone else missing the F?

    • @jakeweston8616

      Johnny Demacano Whats the date stamp on your A4 ? FYI the date is located on the forward end of the barrel underneath the for end. The reason why I ask is because it may be made in 2013 like mine and therefore possibly one of the earlier A4s on the market. The original M16A2s did not have F marked front sight posts. They also had 800 meter rear sights instead of 600 meter. The F mark is originally for the M4 thats why virtually all M4s will have the F marking but the M16 doesn't. My theory is that maybe the newer A4s have F marks to suet the 600 meter M4 removable carry handles that all M16/AR-15 A4s are equipped with. Only the original non removable A2 sights went out to 800 meters. Therefore our guns may have 800 meter front sight posts and 600 meter M4 rear sights. (( I have a 6920 as well and cant see any difference in the size of the front sight like you mentioned, they are the same size.

      Jake Weston that is a very good possibility

      +Jake Weston I took the hand guards off and could not find the date. I used a flashlight and was able to locate it "08/14" after further inspection using the flashlight, I did notice that my sight does have the "F" stamp marked on the front sight. Comparing the sight on the a4 to the 6920 it still looks much thinner then the sight on the 6920.

    I keep watching this over and over trying to make a decision. I want a set of battle/assault rifles and so far I've got the ak47. My heart really desires a springfield M1A M14 rifle. But the ammo is so high I'd never be able to shoot it much which isn't much fun. Now this AR I like because it's like the one I had in the marines...full stock and full lenth barrel. The m14 is a historical American battle riffle which my dad carried in Vietnam. Otoh I could enjoy the arm or because of ammo cost. Decisions decisions

      I would get the AR15 first and then in the future get the M1a. I have a Springfield M1a and I have it set up as a sniper rifle right now. Check out my vid on it if you havent seen it yet. Also you should seriously consider getting an AK74 in 5.45x39

      7.62x51 isn't that expensive. The m1a is my dream rifle. One day

      The ammo is double the price of 5.56. Your right though, its not that expensive, its just that 5.56 is half the price. I love my m1a, I just bought another 500 rounds of 7.62x51 Nato ammo for it.

      The KAC micro flip up sights with USMC stamp would be nice to have as well for an A4 repro.

    I wonder when Colt had started installing F-marked FSBs on this A4 rifles. As on other reviews I read, some had an unmarked FSBs. It makes me think right now that with serial prefix 63xx and after, it would all have the F-marked FSBs.
    Very nice rifle though and review! I wanted to get one but was contemplating if I'll just get a Colt MK18 10.3" upper for my LE6920 lower with 14.5" USGI SOCOM barrel.
