Never saw this in my childhood, but definitely a good show for its time! Too bad first season is all they have and they never bothered completing it to the conclusion with the second or any other seasons needed to reach the final conclusion where they find their way home (or some other interesting conclusion)!

Stumbled onto this show earlier tonight... totally forgot all about this one! This was the only episode I ever recall seeing, and the only part I remembered was the kid getting arrested for taking his shirt off, and the slave auction. I think I was in kindergarten when I saw it. Man so many things from back then seemed perfectly fine but just seem awful now after 30-40 years haha

27:40 Is Chase aka Tony O'dell without a shirt. I would have stood at attention every time Jonna Lee stood in profile. She very beautiful. I had hope that she would have been in more movie's or series she has everything going for her. She could have fill the shoes of Loni Anderson, Lynda Carter and Pamela Anderson or Adrienne Barbeau of course the same goes for Samantha Fox.

37 years later after this episode airs, some of this discrimination against men seems to be coming true decades later. Also, this episode reminds me of an episode of Sliders that aired in the late 1990s 12 years later where there was a parallel universe where females ruled and men were second class citizens also.

The biggest question I have with this series is: where the heck do these folks get their money? They always seem to show up in each new sector in nice clean close with the cash for food and housing. Or is this alternate universe one where credit is generously extended to complete strangers?

This was the only episode I remember from when I was a kid but I remember a scene inside the store, talking to a guy stocking the shelves with the products (cans, I think) in plain white packaging. He's asked what's inside and he says something like "Meat" Asked what kind he simply says, "good meat." It was something along those lines. I was 10 when I saw this and I remember nothing but this episode of gender role reversal and that shelf stocking scene that's not in this episode. Maybe I'm misremembering that scene from another show. I didn't remember the title either, stumbled upon this to great delight.

@@honeydays Hi Heather 😊 Thanks for the info. I really should have began at the beginning. This was the only episode I watched as it was the only one I thought I remembered with the women being the more dominant in this episode. I have some vague memory of a similar episode in Sliders so I thought I just misremembered and criss-crossed the episodes in my memory. Glad to know there's more observant people than myself out there roaming the endless plains of TH-cam.

The series ended short, so I am sure they didn't. But if the way the last six episodes are an indication, it is best we didn't get them back on Earth. We have all the dumb people in movies and TV shows that we need. One stupid mistake after another is how they got to this point.

Reverse sexism...though a little overdone and cartoonish. However, this episode actually comes closer to the days of Jesus Christ when women were possessions and sold into marriage by their fathers and were even traded on amongst men...and this was a regular accepted lifestyle...witnessed by Jesus no less, but the ill reasoning behind using women that way is not mentioned as forbidden in the Bible yet it is told of as the actual nature of life during that time period. In present times that way of life making women totally submissive to men is a favored way of life amongst many religions and even republicans and conservatives. Much more progression in society is needed to sustain equal rights for all people...and we are strongly moving in that direction, though slowly.
