One of my favorite episodes, Feinstein and Astin play both outstanding roles and in this episode there is the only character of Thel, Vorago, which has been on our planet and then he managed to come back.
The Kodan armada would like a word about that vocal distortion on 'the Beast'. :P Yeah, this was one of the bad episodes. I was only 6 when I watched this show. The only reason why I remember it, was the first and second episode listed here. (Although the fifth was shown out of order, it's practically the second, because of the child actor switch).
"What are you?" -- "a man? An animal? Neither? Both?" -- clearly back in 1985 you couldn't say the obvious answer of MANIMAL because that hit show was on another network #ThankYouNBC #RIPManimal #ForeverOnHiatusInMyHeart

CAMCORDER NONSENSE This is the imperfection of ad sponsored programming. In 1985, the time slot this show was in, Saturday 8-9 pm was already struggling to begin with. Also, even though there guest appearances from prominent acting talent of the era, the main characters gave a lackluster performance in my honest opinion. Personally, I would have wanted to see this series come to a more satisfying conclusion. I’m a huge fan of inter dimensional travel and parallel universes.
I remember this show. I was 19 when it aired. It aired in the beginning of the year, so it was a mid-season replacement. And it aired on Saturday night, which was a doomed night back then. It might have fared better on Friday, but that was Dallas night back then. But it is just like Land of the Giants; looks totally like the 1980s, not even extravagant. I stopped watching that Rock and Roll Suicide episode midway and didn't watch the show anymore. We had music and MTV and Friday Night Videos coming out of our ears. Who wants to see a couple of teens mimicking it? Another show called Fantastic Journey aired the same way; ten episodes as a midseason replacement, aired during the beginning of the year and people sought it for years, wondering what happened to it. But yea also, as the other post says, Corbett and Groome have appeal, but no chemistry, so they would have been better off working on storylines, but fell flat there as well. I remember there was a glitch with that youngest boy, Smith, what kind of name is that for a kid? And I just now realized he was recast, so that may have had something to do with it, just causing confusion.
@@jtbmetaldesigns me too. it seemed like when the 80s were going on I couldn't get enough. just as we got to the early 90s the offerings were kinda ehh for me.
La belle et la bette.. After the jean cocteu old film... Hmm... Many similar scenes to the surrealest classic film byt the old one os still so much better.. And the 1930s beast is more handsome as well...

I watched this show when it first aired in 85 and missed a few episodes, so I always wondered what killed it. Well, now I know. This kind of unoriginal blended fairy tale crap is exactly what kills an otherwise half decent series. A common problem with writers of SF in genera even today. They run out of good ideas and them steal from uncopyrighted materials just to keep getting a paycheck each week, for a little while.
I keep waiting for " Under the Sea " to start playing and Smith is continuing by complete Accident of Course to throw Compressed Composted Logs on the Fire, it happens so often that Smith develops a Very Nervous Tic Whenever going to pick a Log to Throw on the Fire, and every time his Dad is by his side encouraging him he can do it this Time, eventually Smith becomes a Nervous Wreck and reverts to his original Form from the Pilot Episode, but the Compost Logs become Smiths Signature Move and That's why the Show was really cancelled
I commented too soon. After finishing watching this episode. And on a second thought. You may have a point. I liked the ones before this. This may be the episode that got it canceled. Really bad...

Wow...a Beauty And The Beast story very nicely played out in 45 minutes...great episode! The best one so far in my opinion.

Would like to have seen the mother become under the spell of yhe beast till she sees the error of her ways.
