I have a 2008 bmw 328i and have no electrical power at all I can’t even turn on the hazard lights or start the car i insert the key fob and it feels like it isn’t clicking in and there’s also no lights that turn on when I open the door its absolutely dead. Do you know what could be the problem?
BMW Fanatic You said these batteries aren’t that expensive at the dealer and they don’t charge that much to install but when I went to purchase from the dealer they wanted almost $500 for battery and labor so what do you consider a good price to pay at the dealership??

I’ve heard that short trips with these cars tend to deteriorate their batteries faster.. so yes the trickle charger is the way to go in this case.. I wonder how well those solar panel ones that plug into the cigarette lighter work? Now I drive 60 miles round trip every work day, and lots of 4 1/2 hr trips to Vermont so I think I’m good in the battery longevity department. I had the dealer replace my battery about 3 years ago.. at that time my car was already about 3 years old... which makes sense.. it was 2 years old when I bought it, and had only 18k.. it was a short tripper before I got my hands on it.. it now has a measly 144k.. so I expect to get 6 years out of this battery I sure hope.
Battery in my 1 series is 14 years old, just started having these symptoms recently. Still starts the engine beautifully though.
I've got a battery that's done 11+ years and doesn't seem to show any signs of giving up yet! It's the original BMW one fitted to the car.
Just replaced mine, i have a 2009 335 and the battery was the one out the factory, it was made in 2009 lol thats crazy... but the funny thing is the color to check if the battery is in good condition but it was still green. But i had all the symptoms of a bad battery
So I have a 2007 328i and the battery is 5 years old. My issues is when I insert the key fob, I hear erratic clicking from relays in the fuse junction box, plus the I get an error code from junction box. When I turn off car, the headlights and taillights stay on, I had to disconnect negative terminal to get lights to go off. I re-connect negative cable and lights stay off until I repeat the above. Therefore, is this all caused by a bad battery too, since all electronics are affected? I would have thought BMW would have thrown a bad battery code with all their fancy electronics they can't seem to tell you that you have a bad battery...SMH Last, where do I get the scan tool from BMW you use to register and re-code your battery? How much does it cost? Thank you.

Just changed my battery yesterday on my 2009 335xi. Date stamped on neg terminal was 35/08 meaning August of 2008...lol. Almost 12 years from that battery!! New battery from BMW (Exide flooded), was $313 CAD with an $18 core charge so $295. Installed it in 9 min and under 1 min to register it using INPA.

Nice video again👍 I noticed, that in your charger is missing the agm option. I also have ctek charger, which has agm option. What I've learned about bmw batterys, they all are agm batterys and they require specific charger. You shouldn't charge agm battery with "basic" battery charger.
AGM is included on the MUS 4.3 version as seen here, so all good 😀
They’re all not AGM, bmw has AGM and flooded batteries

Original battery in 2008 BMW. Been having the "clock reset" every winter for at least 5-6 years - I live in Northern Europe and I think months of single digit temperature (Celsius), together with some days of inaction or short journeys are a cause. It always starts though.

Just replaced my battery, it came from O'Reilly Auto, it lasted 8 1/2 years!!!

Just their Super Start Platinum as I recall. There are only a few battery manufacturers in the US (Exide, Interstate, Delco), so the label they slap on is kind of irrelevant. Whoever their supplier is, they seem to be good!
Any programming required when buing a BMW battery fromthe dealership?
@@80marvino there's no programming, you just basically reset the car computer battery information. This is necessary.

Always my key dash display is on with the slash through it. Lately, it does not have the slash through it & takes like 8 times to start
i have a 2002 745li and for some reason I have battery drains also, you would think as smart as the engineers are who built these cars they would have put a ibs sensor on them that was smart enough to tell it just got a new battery and then tell the dme the same....? oh I forgot then you wouldn't need to take it to the shop to spend more money to fatten their pockets, I get it now... these are great cars but if you don't do the up keep they can become a nightmare, its kinda like dealing with a spoiled woman or man for that matter, except the car doesn't bitch or complain about everything it just stops running
This video came handy, my car die on me 2 days ago, I got a new battery “ not oem” now my car is overcharging to much, supposedly they did coded it to the car but last night I had to get towed, my car was going from 13.8v up to 17-18v in less than 20 seconds, I don’t know if by registering is going to make any difference or maybe my alternator is faulty
Yeah all depends as other things could go wrong
I would register it just to ensure that step is done
I found the problem, it was my Voltage Regulator, very easy to replace, the hardest part was doing all the diagnosis to find out what was causing the problem.

kng Seb At that time I was running a P3 Gauge and every time I would give the car gas my voltage would drastically jump from 13.5v to 18.6v regarles if the car was in motion or not, on my dashboard it would also say the car was overheating and it was all being triggered by the alternator regulator. I had the car down for a full 1 week because they couldn’t find the issue. First they though it was an electrical issue, they torn the car apart and couldn’t find anything. And I the end I was on forums almost 24/7 and I came across this guy that has the same issue and he suggested me to replace the alternator regulator, went out, bought the priece which was under $50 bucks, brought to the shop where the car sitting and asked if I could work on the car, I replaced the part and revved the car about 10 times after and everything seemed to be working fine, that was the end and that’s I solved the issue. Deff way cheaper then replacing it with a new alternator.. btw if they checked the alternator it will actually show that the alternator isn’t faulty, very tricky tho.
in my i8 in the moring I had couple of check engine codes - blind spod , park sensors, high voltage battery etc. Hope its because of died 12V
I didn’t get any symptoms like that it just gave out on me while driving.All the lights it could possibly have went on like a Xmas tree and then it overheated,turned it off to let it cool.Try to turn it back on nothing.Replace battery everything is working great again.
This shows the IBS is more electronic garbage that can go wrong, just disconnect it and leave it disconnected, you then no longer need to code the battery because the emu does not now know what battery is in the car. Without the sensor you are back to a normal continuous charge of between 13.8 to 14.4 volts and get a fully charged battery at all times, short or long journeys.
Stop/start will not work but the battery will last twice as long without that useless tech. My UK Merc has been running with this disconnect for over 12 months, the battery is dated Sep 2011. All these battery sensors are very similar and control the variable charge from the alternator, their main job is to keep the battery around 80% charged to save a minuscule amount of fuel which helps the manufacturer with their emission targets. BMW have no interest with regard to a batteries longevity once out of warranty. th-cam.com/video/x9UML_jDKL0/w-d-xo.html

Hi Bmw fanatic, my Bmw 520d 2006 shows that my battery is not charging, we charged it from a another car and after 1/2 hour driving all the icones on the screen came like ABS etc and the all electricity is gone, is it a new battery, recharge or is it the generator ?

My blower motor just stopped working. I replaced it with a Valeo OEM from FCP. Literally three days later it stopped the fan again. I don’t have any of these symptoms of a failing battery you mentioned here in this video however, the battery I have is over 8 years old. I had the car since 2014, don’t think the battery was ever replaced and the car is a 2011. Should I just swap the battery and hope for the best?

How do you keep your BMS intakes so clean/oiled? I have to re-oil mine every week and it still doesn't look nearly as good as yours lol, I use K&N filter oil.

Man my radio kept cutting in and out. Radio wiuld work sometimes and sometimes it woulnt. Reolaed the battery and wow radio works all the time now. Super weird how that works!
I had the same issue with my M3 and thought in infotainment system was going out. Replaced the battery, and Viola!

Bought a used bmw and the it has 127k miles and the ecm is causing the car to run rich and is saying ita mis firing but its not. Could a bad battery cause your ecm to be faulty
My car when I put it into reverse sometimes it wont go into reverse. Bmw dealership told me my battery is failing that's why it does that. Other than that no other signs my battery is dying? I think I will check the date and just keep driving for another year
Having the symptoms with the halos not turning on when unlocking I went to turn it on today and it didn’t start and a yellow abs light warning came up on cluster and on the idrive screen can that be caused by a dead battery ? Is the abs light normal with a dead battery?

Hoped in my n55. First cold cold start hard start, now went to second start it and dash faded and car won’t start.
just had mine replaced today. 2011 e90 (6/7 yr old battery, there was the week/yr stamped into the top of the negative terminal). car began slower start-ups on cold days, so wanted to do preventative maintenance before it died on me in the middle of january, middle of the night, out in the middle of east bum fuck. little light window was black. last week i priced it out around town, and interestingly even the small shops wanted to use the $200 bmw brand battery. in my case, bmw dealership was best overall deal cuz they register it (VERY IMPORTANT), plus their warranty on parts/labor, plus their mpi.

I’m not sure what to do now. I bought my 335 recently and I scanned it with mhd and it said ibs sensor missing. I’m also having all those symptoms except for the side markers. Should I register the old battery and charge it or get a new battery and register that.
I just replaced my battery (335is 2012) with the same battery it had before and registered it on mhd. A month later it says battery level low. I flashed the car about 12 times since then and didn’t really do anything else that would cause this... did the mhd fail in registering or is it a wiring issue? Thanks!
Hey man great video. I am a dude from the Netherlands .. A couple of times i had the High battery discharge when i had to set my clock..had that 2 times maybe 3 ... when i drove like 60 km it s was gone ...but after a couple of days, i had some problems on my screen like ....ABS, Seatbelt, RPA, Driver assistant management... Could this all be related to a dead Battery ?? cause i let it readout on a specialist and he said, the ABS sensor could be broken.? I have doubts because i am sick the last 3 months and I was not driving very often and not long distances for sure. That's the reason i think the battery is weak ... please help

For this process, always under the hood. Depending on the charger, BMW takes it out and does a fully charge directly on the battery, but it’s outside of the car so no harm.
My battery was dead and I jump started my car then I got a check engine light reduced power, was that caused because of the battery being low because then I turned it off an then turned it on and the check engine light was off and I had full power of the car???

I get the rrset time date etc excessive batt drain . Even my ccc screen will shut down after 5seconds
I looked at battery and the green eye lookin back at me ,and its always has enough pwr to start in the morning .cold start volts 11.9
Running charge 14.7 volts . Do i just start checking fuses and hope for the best ?????
Not exactly pertinent to this video but definitely check your ground strap also if having electrical problems.

Yea I had the halos not turning on problem but then it went away. My problem now is my screen will flicker and my music will cut out on some bass notes. Is that the battery? I'd say the amp but the on board nav screen flickers as well
I would say the battery is slowly going out since it’s cutting communication off to other things

Hello, my battery is low now, and suddenly when i started the engine, my idrive suddenly blinking and turned off (deep black/no power), Air Conditioner not working (only fan), and windows passenger doesnt work. Are these symptoms that i had to change the battery? Or because the idrive module, windows etc broken? Could u give some idea please? And now when i always ACC ignition On, idrive always off.
Are these limitations from bmw because battery low?

Had same issue, it was the clock sensor for the steering wheel. Try the clock sensor reset, if that doesn't work, replace clock sensor. It's not hard at all

U have to use the key in your keyfob to manually open boot using boot key hole
make sure boot is not locked from center box in car first
why did you remove the BMS cowl filters?

I have an e92 335i 2011 twin scroll, but it's still the same concept
First: running the car without a cowl is more or less for easy access to repairs and mods.
Also I've heard that the lack of cowl can allegedly create a pocket of hot air that won't escape the engine compartment due to the way it flows through the intake.
Especially with dci where they need all the air they can get trapped for flow and suction.
But more than that it's probably for protection against moisture as we move into the winter months.
You don't rly want your filters soaked, or even more than that, the cowl helps protect moisture from getting into sensors and wires, and in my case since my dme is under the intake manifold, it's vital to protect the dme harnesses.
If you're going to run bms cowls all year long, one should install an m3 cowl that is designed to retain the weatherstripping seal and keep the integrity of the 335i air flow.
If I'm wrong, I apologize, but those cowl filters are more designed as a temporary replacement while doing maintenance or a permanent fix if you modify or cut your cowl like the m3 spec one that lets you access all the way back to cyl 6
Went to go the M3 cowl route, but got screwed in the deal. Have to buy the kit again - I get this asked daily lol

So I have a 08 n54 e60 and my battery discharge light comes on I tested the battery at autozone and had my uncle test it came back good same for the alternator but my cars been acting really weird. If I drive it for a long amount of time say like an hour it will start for pretty much the whole day it’s really inconsistent I go to get in my car the battery is completely dead the next day I get in and it starts right up it’s just super weird but what I noticed is every time it’s dead and I have to jump it it only needs that small boost I use a battery charger the very second those cables touch the car it’ll fire right up It’s not USB ports or anything because there is a MAJOR drain like I can’t even listen to a song my car will turn off the ignition I’m forced to run my car just having a small smoke session. Lost plz help

I have a question, i fixed my bad injectors changed plugs and oil change but i get 200 miles to the tank which is about 12 mpg about 140 of those miles are highway miles. If i stay out of hitting full boost i will seem to average 250 on the tank. I knew this car wasnt gonna be a gas saver but its getting ridiculous when i do worse than a v8 m3
Did you calibrate the injectors? And did you replace them all or just a few? New ones?
Yeah had them calibrated and just bank2 because two of those were leaking. The rest arent perfect but they arent leaking
What index did you replace the bank 2 with? And what Index do you have for bank 1
The 3 new ones are all index 12 and the others are 7 and 9
You can’t mix Index 11 & 12 with older ones across all 6. Those 11 & 12’s have a different flow pattern vs the older ones.
My battery slowly dying after 8 years :)
