@@nchlswng Revving "any" Cold engine and ANYTIME is not good for ANY vehicle.,as the oil is not up at the top of the engine because oil runs down when is it used and when you shut it off hot....I myself think there is another Inherited problem with BMW engine . Again Closer kilometers between Oil changes can help somewhat, with top grade oils,as we know, bmw has long intervals between oil changes....which is a No No

I had a rough idle due to a stripped screw in the plastic valve cover causing air to enter, tapped and inserted helicoil, seals great no issues.

can we have a reliable petrol engine without rough idle instead? Why we have the problem in first place? perhaps bmw can do better job instead of having this rough idle on all engines. I have the same issue and am super upset. My car has 56k miles and has it already, wtf

I am so relieved to hear this worked for you! Firstly I am a registered Nurse, yet where it comes to CARS/ (or man jobs 😂) … I honestly have no idea. I live in Australia as well & find no one i go to LIKES DODGES absolutely no one in my local 40 minutes radius will touch my car! It was thought to ‘timing belt’ but then my usual mechanic who refuses to touch a dodge states ‘ timing belt tensioner kit failed” & needs replacement. He just had a listen to half a dozen areas on top/under engine with a hose type car stethoscope. My mechanic was fabulous never ripped me off, he done the listen check due to no one can be sure what the heck the noise is or say anything other then I need to replace the engine. My mechanic (just regos the car now). I recently took it to JEEP. Spent $1700 trying to find out what the noise is too. INSTEAD TOLD I need to get a second hand engine fitted in it or park it out in the weather next time it hails 🤦‍♀️
I clarified this noise can’t i just put the tensioner kit in & be done with it? Again advised NO as the timing belt tensioner kit you have to take engine out to get to it to fit it, it’s such a big job they ensured as fact. Going so far to state timing belt tensioner kits cost $3500 then add labor of $2000 = $5500 without consumables (if right word i recall it meant hoses etc are not covered in price quoted). Second hand engine =$5999 😳,
Car is worth 💲2 🇦🇺 sounding like this & considering i am on

This worked great for my 4.4 liter BMW.
Unfortunately, while holding the engine at 3,000 rpm, I accidentally nudged the gearshift lever into Drive.
My vehicle left two burned rubber marks, laid down by the rear tires, and plowed through the lower floor of my home.
Fortunately, my family was on the second floor, along with our dog.
Funny thing though ... after driving through the house, I managed to put the Shift Lever into the Park position, and got out of the vehicle. - Wouldn't you know? The engine was purring like a kitten, and the lifter tapping noise was gone!
Thanks man. You saved me money! 😀👍

Great job fella.....keep up the good work. Lots of people "myself included" are afraid of BMW because of this mythical reputation they have been given. Some people genuinely think that even the simplest of maintenance and repairs needs to be performed strictly by BMW specialists. Just by watching your videos I have learned that I can do things for myself without fear and incurring the costs associated with main dealers and independent specialists.

It is cold where we live currently, and we haven’t been driving around very much. We’ll get some of the top end treatment like you mentioned and maybe even an oil change sooner than required to keep her in good condition. We appreciate you!! I have a 2002 330ci convertible 5 speed stick shift with 73000 miles on it. It's a nice fun car. But it has this ticking noise and the check engine light comes on at time. The car has no power as if it's in limp mode when I give it gas after sitting for a minute or so, like at a red light. But if I turn the car off and then on again it goes away almost immediately. Car has a code come up, some p code having to do with cylinder 2. I changed spark plugs and a bad boot. It was good for a couple days then problem
Reoccurred. I removed the fuel injecter cleaned it. Problem went away then came back after a few days. Checked coils again, one had a fucked up spring so I changed it. Problem went away for like3 weeks....then came back. I'm not a mechanic but I can do a little. I may have to take it to a shop.

How long will this fix last for and how often do you think this would have to be done? And is that the natural BMW sound to kind of still sound kind of clicky like when you showed the engine again after getting the engine going for 3 minutes? Sorry for the lack of knowledge!
Also, if someone lets the tick go without doing anything about it-can it eventually cause a bigger issue eventually?
    Thanks man!

    • @allanlombard8221
      @allanlombard8221 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

If you have the tick every morning, like mine, the only fix is to open the engine and do repairs(very costly). Don’t spend money on additives! If your engine is ticking, your cam boxes are the problem-they are damaged and oil pressure is passing the groove that’s been cut in them, causing low oil pressure to some of the lifters.
If you can’t afford to repair the engine, the best you can do, is to just replace your oil every 5000kms. Or sell the car.
This is the actual truth. 👍

Many thanks BMW Dr. For posting this . It really helped. I just had the annual servicing and the ticking noise started just after the annual service. I ignored for 2 weeks and my car broke down in the middle of the road. I found this video of yours and followed your procedure and it worked . Many thanks again. I had this ABS flipping and battery light as well. Is that because of ticking problem as well?

The reason this happens to these engines is because people don't drive the car the way it was built to be driven. BMW engines especially the 6 cylinders are high strung engines. They are designed to be revved high most of the time. If you baby it. You will get the ticking noise from the engine. That's why BMW lifter bleed procedure works. He is correct this is the exact same thing that a BMW technician will do if you bring the car to the dealership. And they will charge you an hour of labor to do it. And probably a diagnosis fee as well. Good info. Save people money.
