This guy gets it. It's not about being suicidal or whatever, it's about letting those feelings out like you opened a fire hydrant

TOM! Yes! I never thought you would do The Amity Affliction! Wow! Just want to say, there have been many times when I listen to this for comfort. Somehow I find the depressing thoughts comforting. Or as James Blunt once said, "Find comfort in pain". One of my favorite bands! Keep up the great work!

The Amity Affliction and Joel write more heart wrenching lyrics that are also relatable than any other band I can think of. sometimes just yelling or crying listening to their music is just so cathartic

This is why I love metal, you can actually hear the pain in the voice and see the pain in his face when he is screaming. It still gives me chills when I watch the music video

I’m impressed with your openness and respect for all the various musical genres you have reacted to on your channel. You have a concise way of explaining the emotions and meanings behind the lyrics. 👏🏼 👏🏼 When you said, “people listen to music to relate.” It reminds me of why I watch your videos. You’re spot on with relating to all of us on the channel! Music sometimes says the words we cannot express. Thank you for the uploads!

Great reaction! I would love to add that Joel Birch, the singer (screamer) who write most of the lyrics has been diagnosed with Bipolar. Which can help understand how painful these lyrics are. Amazing band!

If you want another song that a lot of people agree describes depression well, check out "Breaking Down" by I Prevail

This is screamo. It's along the same lines of bands like Bring Me The Horizon and Asking Alexandria

I just watched the Amity Affliction live last week here in Houston and it was the most insane concert I’ve ever been too. The engagement the crowd had with singing the chorus was incredible, definitely a powerful song and band all together!

To answer your question they titled the song Pittsburgh because that Joel (screaming vocals) had a seizure during the 2013 Warped Tour, they said it was a result from Joel’s drinking to much and from being in the heat, so Joel wrote the lyrics for how he felt after everything happened.

I listen to The Amity Affliction ever time I feel down, makes me feel better. Like you said I don’t want my life to end just the moment to end. Love this band. Got goose bumps you talking about it

wow! was absolutely not expecting to hear this type of music on the channel! I like that you caught the combination of the two different voices singing the chorus towards the end of the song. Thanks for reacting to this genre of music as well and staying open to it!

Amity will always have a special place in my heart. As dark as their lyrics are when I was at my lowest point and "on the edge" I'd play them and a couple other bands with the same dark lyrics and it honestly helped me because it made me realize I wasn't alone. Got to give them credit for helping save me. 👏

The song is titled "Pittsburgh" because lead vocalist Joel Birch had a near-death experience in the city while on Warped Tour in 2013(?) I believe. He was extremely dehydrated due to the overbearing heat and ended up being hospitalized for three days.
