Here's is the actual short version context and meaning behind the song guys “We called it Pittsburgh because at Warped Tour 2013 Joel had a seizure, just from drinking too much and being too hot - it was really hot. I think he wrote the song about the way he was feeling after that situation . Joel came up with [the video] concept to have lots of water involved, like the feeling of drowning"
That song introduced me into the band and has gotten me hooked on them ever since Been listening to them since somewhere around 2014-2015 ish and finally got to see them in concert last year; they're definitely my favorite band
Definitely one of my favourites from them, I’ve been hooked on the band since my first time hearing them love pretty much everything they’ve done but that song has a special place
Yeah, The Amity Affliction is great. Here's some more of their songs you might enjoy: "Born to Die", "All My Friends are Dead", "Open Letter", "Death's Hand", "I Bring The Weather with Me".
Drag the lake is what got me started on Amity. I went down that rabbit hole and have thoroughly enjoyed it lol.... Their trilogy is great! All Fucked Up, I bring The weather with me, this could be heartbreak. Also the entirety of their album Misery is fucking mint!! Great reaction guys!!
This is one of my all time favorite bands and a lot of their songs deal with depression and suicide. Dealing with both myself this band has helped me immensely. I would also suggest listening to their song/video trilogy.1) All Fucked Up, 2) I Bring the Weather With Me, 3) This Could be Heartbreak.
I am so happy you've done this song! It's my favourite song. Amity's music has always been about Joel's (the lead vocalist) battle with mental health and alcoholism. He writes all the lyrics. They may be confronting and depressing lyrics, but are relatable to others fighting the same mental battles, and often include uplifting messages of hope and to keep fighting. These songs have gotten me through some hard times. Sometimes you just need to hear someone else going through the same thing. They take this very seriously, and there are a few songs from this album which Joel acknowledges his fans as a reason to keep on living (e.g. Give It All, Don't Lean On Me) I have seen them live 8 times (the 9th time is next month!) and I have been a fan of them since 2009, and they are amazing live. They've always sold out shows here in Australia (their home country). Their career has been built off their live performances. They have 7 studio albums, and a few eps
Love this reaction. Please do more amity. Open Letter, Death's Hand, Death is all Around, just anything. Also you are so right when you say alcohol is his problem - Joel is tee total and he's had his problems and is still going through them. They are such an amazing band I love them so much. They're so incredible live too
“All Fucked Up” and “Fight My Regret”, “Don’t Lean On Me”, and “Drag The Lake” are all absolutely fucking incredible. i very highly recommend reacting to more of amity. so talented. i hope to see more of them on here sometime! i absolutely love your reaction guys. definitely needed it tonight. it was exactly how i first reacted and honestly you’re the only reactors who hold as much passion. thank you 🤍
i absolutely love your reaction guys. definitely needed it tonight. it was exactly how i first reacted and honestly you’re the only reactors who hold as much passion. thank you 🤍
That video was brutal to film and at some points kinda scary haha. So we set ourselves on fire for the next one naturally. Appreciate the review my dudes ✌🏻
@@RyRyMTD Yes mate surely does feel like forever (pun sort of intended - I hate Hartley 🤣). The riverstage show when you still had Imran etc in the band must have been surreal to see the entire hill stacked with fans. Stay well man!
I'm seeing the boys in a couple weeks Enmore for the ten year redux, I saw Parkway Horizons your at Riverstage, looking back I think it's an unbeatable moment, along with so many other bands back then @@davesteer320
Their song "all fucked up" has gotten me through so many dark times in my life. Y'all definetly need to check that one out. So much emotion it's insane.
They’re hella rad to see in person! Saw them at Good Things 2022 in Brisbane. Got crushed in the mosh, and my cigarettes stolen out of my backpack, but was still one of the best shows i’ve seen!
Dude theyre so good live, and it was honestly really emotional with all of us in the crowd acreaming these lyrics feeling the weight of them personally. Definitely a moment when the whole audience was bonded ans you could feel it in the air. This song is beautifully sad and describes depression so well
Never clicked on something SO FAST!!!! Welcome the The Amity Affliction EXPERIENCE!!! Awesome reaction!! Joel the screamer in the song had a drinking episode in Pittsburgh. Thats where the song comes from. All their songs are straight 🔥 but very deep lyrically!!! Please keep tumbling down this rabbit hole!!
I have been binge watching your vidoes..i love how into the lyrics you guys get! And Kyles emotional facial expressions are amazing. I always know its a good lyric is Eric gies "hmm". Please do more The Amity Affliction..literally song. They are amazing!
I just saw this band in Atlanta in April. It was an amazing show!! This song is about the lead singer, Joel having a seizure from drinking too much and being too hot in Pittsburg. I definitely think you should dig deeper with this band. “All my friends are dead” and “F.M.L.” Are my a couple of my favorites that you should try for sure! Once again, I love how passionate you both are! Great reaction as per usual!
I'm so glad you touched on TAA. I've been listening to them for close to ten years now. They hit on a lot of mental health points and are quite positive. You hit it on the head with them...they give you a topic and know to bring you down to where they want you to feel that raw emotion and build you back up with hope. This song was written for Joel Birch's experience (scream vocalist) performing at Warped Tour in Pittsburgh. It was extremely hot and he had a seizure. He said it felt like he was drowning. You also wondered about their Live sound? Phenomenal! They are killer on stage for sure. Also, this is a favorite song of mine of theirs so I figured I'd share.....It's a live version. The song is called Open Letter. A reaction to this specific live version would be amazing. th-cam.com/video/g8MYfE529ok/w-d-xo.html
Great reaction as always guys. Amity Affliction is an awesome band that isn't afraid to touch on mental health and depression issues. This song was in regards to Joel's substance abuse problem vs. alcohol and the aftereffects he suffered while on tour in Pittsburgh. Some of their other songs I would recommend our Deaths Hand, Open Letter, Don't lean on me (all off of their 2014 album) or more recent songs like Soak me in bleach or All of my friends are dead (off of their 2020 album). They did release a very solid 3 song LP in 2021 with Like Love, Give up the Ghost, and Death is all Around. Keep up the great reactions and thanks for giving Amity Affliction some love.
Pleaseeeeee do more amity i just seen them for the 5th time in 8 years the other week and im sitting in my car with my TAA merch on This band has gotten me through a lot this past decade. 10 years ago 2 of their albums were the first CDs I ever bought and had them on repeat in my car These songs are the songs I listen to when im in a dark place myself. Its nice to be able to put word to how im feeling when I don't know how to do it myself And yes they are amazing live. Going to their concerts is an experience every there has been through something or knows someone that's has been or is going through something and to be side by side all those people screaming their lungs out from the bottom of their heart is so amazing because you don't feel alone
Polaris also has the bass player as the clean vocalist, I saw you guys did landmine, definitely have to react to Relapse, Above My Head, Pray For Rain, or Hypermania. Honestly, I think you guys would love all of those. Definitely worth checking out again!
The Amity Affliction imo has improved over the years, or maybe I've gotten older lmao. You should check out some stuff off Misery! They are a band that every album sounds different. I've said it before to people, If I could only listen to 1 band for the rest of my life it would be The Amity Affliction(They aren't my favorite but they are up there).
Hey guys I don’t know your situation here, but please please give us more amity affliction. As someone who is growing up in Brisbane with them being an Australian band, they’re lyrics are incredible, and you guys are amazing at breaking them down that they would be perfect for you!!!
I’m suuuure Kyle there is a lot of sounds and music that you have not heard something like it that we know about. This was a great reaction to a great song.
My best friends sister (who I won't name out of respect) dated Ahren Stringer back in 2003-2004 back when they lived in Gympie! Really nice guys but the band has been through alot of members since then lol
Best reactions.... never seen the type and hype of enjoyment of music you guys have. Loved the Falling In Reverse voices in my head reaction.... watched all the rest. My favorite song Ronnie Radke sang was from when he was in escape the Fate (my apocalypse). Made me a fan of his for life, wherever his journey takes us. I would also like to see what you think of the passenger album by kingdom of giants.
The Amity Affliction are soo amazing live! You should definitely react to more of their songs and you should check out another Australian band - inheartswake!! The song 'divine' is amazing
Dude no fucking way! I just found you guys yesterday and my Stepdad is from Ohio. Also, I fucking grew up in Pittsburgh and also worked down on the strip! Thirdly this is also the song that i first discovered Amity Affliction on too. Thats some fucking wild coincidences!

Fantastic. MORE AMITY REACTIONS PLEASE! I’ll be honest their newest albums aren’t my cup of tea. This song was from around 2014 on Let the Ocean Take Me. That’s their best album IMO. Chasing Ghosts is their 2nd best album. Definitely look into those!
Hey guys! Sick reaction. You guys need to check out the band Bullet For My Valentine. For the first song I think you guys should check out "Waking The Demon". I think you guys would enjoy it! Much love to the both of you, keep killing it!

"Dont Lean On Me" is still my favorite song by them
Agreed!
Same for me!
Whenever I introduce people to Amity, this is the track I use. Also inspired my latest tattoo

All fucked up is another great song
I was hoping someone said Death's Hand... I was gonna comment about it if I didn't see it in comments haha
Yes. All bangers
Kick Rocks, Pittsburgh, and Never Alone are personally my favorite, but I love just about every song from them

finally, amity affliction getting some reaction love.
Me and my ex fiance (my children's dad/best friend) saw these guys 3 days before his dad passed away from cancer. They hold a lot of emotion for us ❤
The balance between Ahren and Joel's vocals is perfection when it comes to dual vocalist bands
Love this reaction. Please do more amity. Open Letter, Death's Hand, Death is all Around, just anything. Also you are so right when you say alcohol is his problem - Joel is tee total and he's had his problems and is still going through them. They are such an amazing band I love them so much.
