    I'm not really into revolvers, especially single action. But man, something about this speaks to me haha.. Ruger knocked it out of the park with the looks, price point, philosophy of use, etc. It's really a pretty handsome little gun. I imagine this would be an awesome first gun for a younger shooter. Maybe even a good minimalist survival revolver??

    As a revolver it can shoot 22 Short and 22 Long as well as the 22 Long Rifle. Heck CB Caps and 22 shotshells too. Nothing to complain about and Cera-Kote makes it durable. Throw one in a tackle box and use it for snakes or whatever.

      @James clark I read the Aluminum was A380 for the cylinder frame on the Ruger. Many of us like 22 Magnum. This gun will not have the Magnum cylinder because it will not hold up over time as Ruger has stated. It's a cheaply made firearm no more no less. The price reflects that.

    Already own a Ruger lightweight, which the only steel parts on that are the Hammer trigger firing pin Barrel and ejector Rod housing. Everything else on the frame and subframe And the cylinder are all aluminum. It works wonderfully but they're only about five thousand of them ever made. It's sometimes called a tricolor because the frame the cylinder and the grip frame were all three different colors.
    You're telling me that you're getting them out the door between 2:25 and 2:49. And I'm already hearing people getting them in the range of 160 to 200. But that is just what I'm hearing.

    Now Ruger needs to make a top break revolver in 22 because I hate that loading gate

    • @ZombieWilfred
      @ZombieWilfred 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Meh... In the age of semi-auto pistols the fastest reloading revolver is completely outmatched by a mag change. Gate loading and top break revolvers both pretty much lose out to the modern swing out cylinder designs in combined practicality and durability. This is for plinking or maybe pest control or dispatching animals in traps, but it's mainly just to give that Old West Colt SAA nostalgia at the range at a decent price, so it's good for what it's supposed to be...

    • @manbeastx69
      @manbeastx69 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @ZombieWilfred
      @ZombieWilfred 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@manbeastx69 Yeah, I get the wanting something different. I have a top break and it's fun, especially when you open it up and all the casings go flying out... But neither is really practical and they're concerned about moving units was my point, and the Colt SAA is thought of as THE cowboy gun and therefore it's popular/desired so inexpensive .22 versions of it sell well. They'd have a harder time moving Schofield-style .22s, but I'd be stoked if they were available. They make pretty much every other kind of gun in .22lr and I think it's awesome because full caliber replicas and originals of certain guns are so expensive/unavailable. Schofields are a good example, I'd love one, but they're pricey...

    Cerakote??? ((Maybe a fatal flaw in this gun))... Don't get me wrong - I still love this little gun - I just received one a few days ago now and in less than 100 rounds the Cerakote finish is burning off on the face of the cylinder around the cylinder holes - It appears that Cerakote does NOT handle the heat when on a revolver due to the hot powder flash at the cylinder gap and the forcing cone ... I have shot approximately 120 rounds Federal Eagle copper jacketed so far - there are now white rings on the face of the cylinder that I think is the bare aluminum showing through... I think this will become an issue to Ruger in time (maybe in a pretty short amount of time)... Has anyone else had this happen yet???

      Someone once said to me " there are no dumb questions, only dumb answers " I tend to think this is true. The reviewer explained that the aluminum frame was not meant to withstand magnum rounds. So I feel pretty confident that shorts would work just fine being less powerful than longs inwhich it was designed to handle.

    Just watching you that unlocked cylinder looks like a bigger pain in but than its worth. Especially if your down to a couple rounds for whatever reason. I'd rather see it locked up till a half cocked position then maybe spin both ways but some resistance with a spring etc because you was fumbling more with it in full free float than anything.
    the frame doesnt have anything to do without a 22 mag cylinder because a 22 mag don't have that much more power. It's a barrel issue because a mag round is just a slight hair bigger than 22lr that's why.
    Plus change your weak hand grip slightly and keep your thumb up for faster cocking and staying on target.

    I call B.S on no mag cylinder. The frame must be weaker than other budget gun like the Heritage RR or the Herbert Schmitd line of revolvers, both have a WMR cylinder, even the Chiappa 1873 has one and that's made completely of an alloy with steel liners in cylinder and barrel.

    Having that cylinder free spinning like that is going to get tedious, with nothing to guide you as to when it's in the right position for loading and unloading. Especially guiding the ejecting rod into the not-much-larger opening of a .22 case. Definitely much better fit on the Ruger, though.

  • @grandmasterjauffre4761
    @grandmasterjauffre4761 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've shot aluminum framed revolvers in 38+, that frame could easily handle the pressure of a 22 magnum.

  • @jasonlehman2090
    @jasonlehman2090 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's INTEGRAL rear sight. Not internal. Integral means it's machined into the top strap. Also the freespin cylinder is not easier to unload. In a traditional single action the half cock indexes the chambers perfectly to work the ejection rod faster. ALL New Model Ruger revolver cylinders don't index in line with the ejection rod simply because of the loading gate disconnect. I have both the freespin and non freespin models, 4 Blackhawks in all. I prefer the traditional unloading method if my Uberti Cattlemen better.

    Ruger does make good revolver pistols. Can't stand their autoloading pistols though and I think they could get better at them. I do like the metal trigger on this SA revolver but I don't like that its not a traditional half cock hammer to free the cylinder. That loading gate that frees the cylinder when open can get bumped open accidentally at any time as is often the case. That kind of puts me off this revolver. I think that feature is a big mistake. I like the revolver otherwise though. I will stick with the Rough Rider that at least is traditional half cock and accidentally bumping open the loading gate won't free my cylinder.
