Although the owner's manual says dry firing won't damage the cylinder, it really does. Don't know why Ruger says that, but don't dry fire the rimfires.

I own a Ruger Wrangler, Gunsite Scout in 5.56, SR 1911 Lightweight Commander in 45ACP and a 10/22 Takedown. I haven’t had an problems with any of them. Thanks for your informative videos. Peace.

Seems to like 40 or 45 grain bullets. 36 grain is all over the place shooting off rest bags. One shot a little high and to the left an inch. The other was the same but to the right. All at 10 yds. Glad I wasn't the only one who was a little shocked at its initial poor accuracy. I just got one and at a range trip today as I type this, I was pretty disheartened. I was shooting at about 10 yds at a target with 25 circles on it (roughly the diameter of a pop can) and at first I was all over the place. It looked like a fired off a shotgun instead of .22 but by the time I got to the last 10 circles, it did get a little better. I mean, I'm no Wyatt Earp or Billy the Kid but I've been shooting for 20 + years so I'm not exactly terrible or anything but I was shocked at how poor I did. I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong, if it was the light weight ammo I was using or if it's just a break in thing but hopefully it gets better on future trips.

@@Carlos-nx8xr I can count the number of times I traded in a firearm with one hand and have fingers to spare. I was glad to be rid of the Wrangler. One of the few others I traded years ago was a Ruger SP101. I had to tighten a few screws on the thing every time I shot it. I didn't want to Loctite any of them either in case of a need for maintenance so I just swapped it for something else. Not sure why but I just haven't had much luck with Ruger revolvers. I have 4 other Ruger firearms (American Hunter 308, American rimfire, 10/22 and MkIV) that work great but their revolvers.... meh.

It's been said, 1/2 the fun of friendly .22 plinking competition is the variable the pistol itself introduces. Try removing the grip and see if you can't lift off 1/2 the trigger spring and ease up the trigger pull.
Also, my Ruger Single-10 took about 2000 - 3000 rounds before it felt like it was broken in and dialed, but I shoot mine open sights, sandbag wrist-rested and at 4.25" clay pigeons at 200 yards.
...and every now and then I actually *hit one!*

Did you fire the gun from a rest? If not, then you can forget any kind of claim for accuracy, As a NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, I have heard many stories of accuracy or non-accuracy from folks who shot their gun freehand and used that to established whether the gun was accurate or not. Without using a rest, you cannot eliminate most of any human error and it is scientifically a very poor way of judging accuracy. Freehand establishes how accurate the shooter is, not how accurate the gun is. Good video, keep it up!

11:28 That is really flawed thinking. Out of the group wired with the Wrangler, you've got one winger. That says absolutelu nothing about the gun's accuray as it could have been shooter error. If you take that wingr out of the equation, you have just as tight a group as wiht the Mk 4. Hence you need to shoot more groups to get reliable data.

Accuracy is non standard unless it's in a non moving scenario like a vise. The Accuracy of the gun is if it is held in the same exact place how tight of a group does it have. Practical accuracy is then the humans ability to use that accuracy. Theoretically the wrangler would have more going for it in the accuracy department than your lite mk4 as it has a very heavy cold hammer forged barrel, the problem lies in the practical accuracy... If you milled the gun to take the iron sights that are on your mk4 I would bet that the groups would shrink. Long story short the sights on old single actions suck and hamper the shooter but doesn't affect actual accuracy.

Great point about practical accuracy. I am not a great marksman with a handgun, but I do much better with a revolver than an automatic. I am thrilled with the accuracy of my Wrangler. I get better groups with the Wrangler than any other handgun I've tried. That may say more about my shooting than the gun, but it is great for me, and practice with it is helping with other pistols. Not a target gun? It has fixed sights, so no, not a target gun. But a fun fun and a good shooter that is teaching me to hit a paper plate when previously I did well to hit a barn door? My Wrangler is great!!

You need to understand how each fin is made and how they are different before you go showing how a semi auto outahoots the revolvers. They always will. A semi auto has ONE chamber and each round is fired from the same chamber which it reamed into the barrel. ALL revolver have many different chambers which are disconnected from the barrel. Also, testing ammo. You cannot just swap from one or another and see what that ammo does. It takes at least one round per inch of barrel length to lube the bore with that ammos lube. Each brand has a different lube. Some most of your results will be false. They might be better or they might be worse if done correctly. But again, revolvers will never be as accurate as a semi auto unless you have a custom cylinder hand made and hand fitted to exact tolerances.

As this gun ages with putting rounds through it it becomes more accurate and the hammer and loading gate ease up. Before you go purchase a Wrangler check out the SUPER Wrangler.
