As a queer person I don’t cry every time I see a straight white male character, I just get a little bored as there are so many and it has been that way for a while, but I don’t resent it as it is import to show all people. I do love seeing representation of my community and reflecting our country ie POC, queers, disable people etc etc. seeing all these majority white cis het men bigots cry (no surprise they are the ones moaning as they are not the centre of attention) does make me laugh .

The vast majority of people who are complaining do not have a problem with representation, this is a sinister misrepresentation. @BeanyBop 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

In all fairness though your comment doesn't help matters. You sort of assume anyone who doesn't like the change in doctor who is a biggot in some way.
I think people should accept that some times change isn't always " for representation " and is often a generic marketing scheme to get appeal to left leaning audiences.
Everything disney get involved with becomes a vessel for a woke narrative.
It's sci-fi. It's been fine for years and years without gender politics.
The reason people are moaning is because they are sick of it being shoehorned into stuff.
I know lots of queer / lgbqt friends that are also just as sick of hearing about legacy shows or movies being changed in some way to make it more " woke ".
Southpark literally done a special about this exact thing.
It's not about being threatened or triggered by some one's politics. Its about " the message " infecting every single classic show or film now and changing already established lore into something else entirley.
It's about people being sick of being lectured when they are trying to forget about real life and loose themselves in something sci-fi.
People don't want to see every single lead male character in a beloved franchise get talked down to by a woman because " women are strong and don't need no man '
No one ever watched Doctor who and thought. You know what, the doctor always assumes aliens genders. What a douch.....
Like it's ridiculous that they thought they needsd to put it in.
You telling me it felt natural in the script? Seeing those words in a script. It felt like something the doctor would talk about ?
And now suddenly he's into men too ?
All since Disney got involved. ?
You don't see the link here at all ?
No one cares when Daniel Craig had banter in skyfall as James bond admitted to having been with a man before.
It felt like something bond was confident to talk about. It fit the narrative.
Doctor who at the moment is just being puppeted by Disney.
You don't have to be a bigot to disagree with a company like Disney messing with a beloved franchise to " send a message ".

@@BeanyBop I did not mean it to come across as portraying the people who complain as bigoted.
I'll just chalk it up to being very tired after a 12 hour shift.
The reason I made a comment is because I've become increasingly frustrated is reading/hearing comments from people who don't seem to care about creating good and interesting narrative and it's got to the point where people like me (who I strongly identify as an old-school left leaning type) can't seem to enjoy anything anymore because this crusade to push the message has greatly impacted quality in an entertainment medium I once held very dear.

@samhewson5443 This 1,000%. The issue at hand is whether he gains voters or keeps Tory voters at home. There's a real disparity in coverage between those who've actually read what he said and those who just read a headline (from a Tory paper who might possibly have an incentive to embellish the headline to discredit him).
For what it's worth, he 100% should be targeting these voters because every other voter to the left of these ones should be voting Labor/Lib Dem to keep the Tories out. If he gets elected and then starts implementing Thatcherite policies that is the point where we can take real umbrage with him, but this is just basic electrical politics in a FFP system 🤷

People saying the transgender thing was forced are idiots. The doctor referred to the Meep as 'him' and Rose was rightfully confused and questioned the Doctor. Not having Rose interrupt would go against her character, it's silly to assume the gender of an alien race anyway, especially since as the Meep said itself, he got it wrong.
