  • This is not my first time building a PC, but it is my first time ever to build a fully custom water loop! I waited this case to arrive for almost 2 years and I am really excited to share this build with all of you!
    The reason why it failed:
    1. The cooling is inadequate. A single 20mm thick 240mm radiator and one 15mm thick 120mm fan is just not enough to cool BOTH the CPU and GPU.
    2. I find the pump is rather on the weak side (but it is enough to flow liquid through the whole loop).

    Looks great! But ya a 240 doesn’t seem like nearly enough radiator to cool these components. I too and doing a closed loop in a mjolnir but opted to keep the gpu on air and only a 5600x cpu. But I’m also only putting a 120 rad in it. Interested to see how it temps

      @howardishere  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thx! Yea this case is meant for an air cooled gpu I think you could put a higher end cpu if you are only water cooling the cpu though. In my case if I’m not gaming the computer it’s actually fine but it’s just that the pump is on the weak side.

    • @howardishere
      @howardishere  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t want to disappoint you but I basically dissembled it almost right after I shot the video. This mini itx idea doesn’t work for me. I went full size and has using full size stuff since. The cooling was inadequate in this case. You really need either more radiators or downgrade to a cpu that doesn’t draw so much heat and keep the gpu air cooled.

    • @lhbbq

      @@howardishere Thank you so much. As I personally considered the ITX format. When dealing with the SFF case, when it comes to the design. I keep running in the same issue - not enough cooling space. And that is even in the design phase. I personally want to insert into something small that can take on about 1000 watts of power. And from all my searching and researching, I will need to do this with at least an M-ATX motherboard and M-ATX case. Something that allows me to get in there full-size radiators and fans without compromising anything.

    Also, 80C on a 5950X in a small form factor like that is amazing. With a bit of undervolting you could have easily brought those temperatures down without noticeable performance loss through curve optimization in PBO.

    Failed? I don't think so! The CPU temp is still very acceptable at 85c.
    You can't expect very low temperatures like in a water-cooled mid tower. For modern CPU's, as long as the temps stay below 90c (below 85c preferable) and the CPU is stable, thats fine. You can use power limits and undervolting to ensure this.
    For GPU, anything below 85c is fine.
    You're doing very well off a single fan!
    Having said that, a dan A4 H2O has far more cooling capacity.
    I run a 12900kf and 3090 on a single 240mm in a 10 litre taobao cube X1. Radiator is a tx240 with 2 t30 30mm fans (these are excellent).
    My CPU stays below 85c even under cinebench (undervolting and power limit of 150watts needed to achieve this) and GPU always stays below 75c.
    Coolant temp rises as high as 47c.
    10 litre itx builds are inherently a compromise, but can work very well while being extremely portable

    • @howardishere
      @howardishere  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are so right. So this build was my first time doing a water cooling build I guess my expectations of water cooling was very high and I wasn’t sure what temps to aim for.

      @Tom--Ace ปีที่แล้ว

      @@howardishere I think you did great! It's all about what you're trying to achieve
      For me, I wanted a 10 litre top of the line pc that I could fly to Europe from Australia and back in a carry on bag (which I did) - I needed portability and the system was excellent while still having the best available components.
      For a PC that can sit on the spot but you want max performance including overclocking, a mid tower custom loop can do that better with 5% or maybe even 10% better overclocked performance.
      I think you did a great job, but maybe didn't need a 10 litre case

    The reason why it failed:
    1. The cooling is inadequate. A single 20mm thick 240mm radiator and one 15mm thick 120mm fan is just not enough to cool BOTH the CPU and GPU.
    2. I find the pump is rather on the weak side (but it is enough to flow liquid through the whole loop).
    I have to disaggree with you on te above atatement. I would put it down to choice of cpu and gpu. This case is not made for high end components like 5950x or 6800xt

      No it's not. 85c is fine
      Your expectations are all out of whack. You can't expect a 10 litre case to run temps like a mid tower custom loop.
      When I had my mid tower custom loop with one giant and thick 360 rad and a 240 rad, coolant would never rise more than 5c above ambient and CPU temps stayed super cool.
      That's not the objective of a custom loop in a 10 litre itx with top grade CPU and GPU.
      In an itx, the custom loop's objective is to keep the components comparable to mid range air cooling in a mid tower, and cool enough to operate 24/7 stable without longevity issues.
      You're really building a system much more on the edge and you have to adjust expectations for that
