iRacing also had the McLaren you spoke of. A lot of fun to drive. This mercedes on iRacing is amazing. Easy to drive, extremely hard to master. Just when you nail a lap you look and youre still seconds off pace. Extracting every tenths out of that car is a challenge and its what is going to be so interesting in that series, the skill cap of the car.
And this is in a simulator. A true testament to the balls F1 drivers have pushing these things to the absolute ragged edge and getting the times they do.
Well with Merc providing 30,000 data channels...Anthony Davidson doing months of testing on the platform and engineers overlaying real data with sim to get within 1% ... This could be the start of real teams finally providing actual data that normally is well guarded ...enjoy folks
They're probably just looking at average lateral G in sustained cornering to get that %. The dynamic roll stiffness is probably 50%+ off for one and it's easy to see the transient is off in entry, so if you do a real analysis of the car you'll start running into large discrepancies I think. Manufacturer sims don't get as close as everyone is making it sound like iR got, and iR has a lot more fundamental issues with modeling than those.
With Mercedes F1 car being released this week, the physics, aero, tires models will dramatically improve now as Mercedes is helping them also with that department.
This is exactly why saying the official F1 game does not have the best physics because it needs to be accessible for everyone is complete bullshit. Good physics means it is easier to drive because it gets way more intuitive.
Not to mention, that even the REAL F1 DRIVERS complained that the OFFICIALLY LICENCED F1 GAME by Codemasters is far too difficult to drive and has a massive lack of grip, downforce and traction. (Norris was literally driving with assists turned on, for the newest F1 2021 game...)

im wondering what your ffb settings look like for ac. there are so many settings that can make it terrible if not correct. i rarely hear people say the at the limit feedback is vague
Good comparison. But let's be honest, it's still pretty impressive that there's even a comparison to begin with. RSS are modders while the iracing W12 was made with Mercedes F1 team themselves helping the iracing team. To me it's still impressive that a fan made mod can even be compared to the closest we can get to "the real thing".
Iracing seems way too forgiving with hitting curbs and gravel. At one point you braled while having two tires compleatly on the ralttle-curb without any more braking distance
I dont have any simracing experience, but this is what I thought after watching this video: for me as someone from the outside, Asseto would have left a more "real" impression I guess.
Ok so now go back and watch some real F1 races from this year and see how many times the real drivers in the real world actually brake on the curbs and sometimes even kick up dust from hitting the grass. IMO this has been the biggest problem with sims and in particular F1 cars in sims and Codemasters. They over do the difficulty of the way the car drives because they are “supposed” to be the hardest cars cars to drive which they are but only if you are pushing them to the absolute limit. Not everytime you drop a wheel on the grass or heaven forbid touch a curb. The problem with plebs online and especially people who don’t even have iRacing saying that it isn’t or looks unrealistic is that Mercedes themselves and James Vowels (Technical race director of AMG F1 Merc) has been working closely with iRacing over the last 12mths to make this the closest representation possible of the real world car. So I think it’s a pretty big call to say that Janes Vowels and Merc have screwed this up and don’t have any idea of “how it really should be” 🤔
@@drorzy_0485 that comment wins this section. Spot on, I think Mercedes F1 team helped iracing make the most accurate sim F1 car ever. Anyone who says otherwise is plainly talking out of their arse.
the steering gets hard at highspeeds following the downforce increasement. The massive 3000kg of downforce and the agressive suspension geometry (toe, camber) and the massive grip makes the steering wheel much heavier. In normal cars, as fast as you are, as much the steering wheel gets lighter, in formula cars it happens, until the downforce kicks...
There are a few points that need to be made here: 1) the RSS car is a creation of a modding company with the intention not to make it identical but as a platform that resembles this year's cars. 2) iRacing worked internally with Mercedes with their data to create this car, so it's many many times more detailed and precisely fine tuned. Then, there's another key point to be made. Already, drivers are matching Hamilton's qualifying times on iRacing, which is a dead giveaway that this car is made to be approachable by sim racers with as broad skill range as possible. That by default means it's easier to drive, the aero is more prominent and the corrections in throttle/steering on curbs and bumps tend to be less extreme. So in summary, both aren't that "close" to being realistic, while the W12 is tailor made by MB, I don't see why the RSS with a proper setup wouldn't be able to match the iRacing experience (obviously the tire model is a limiting factor, while I find the FFB on the RSS quite detailed imo)
Having, like all of us, never driven an F1 car, I can’t comment on the realism. The fact that sim racers are matching Hamilton’s time doesn’t mean it’s not realistic. By this point, it’s safe to assume that some sim racers have turned more laps in this car than Hamilton ever will. They probably have more laps on a given track than Hamilton ever will. But most importantly, they can push harder and harder each lap with the fear of dying. In identical conditions, the sim should be faster because it removes the very real fear of dying.
Sim racers don't have to deal with G forces or the risk of dying, of course they can get close to or match Hamilton's lap times. I personally cant, and I've been sim racing for years.
Simracing laps can be run at completely different weather and track conditions. Comparing the lap times with different conditions doesnt make any sense.
Brother, I love your content, but that lap in AC was bad, turn 5 and 6 almost made me cry when you downshifted to 4th gear. I dont own iRacing but from all I have seen so far, that W12 look amazing, something I look forward to try as soon as my wallet lets me. Just to finish, if you dont like to drive in AC, just don't do it.
Another great vid man! Since ive increased the side accel forces/g-forces in BeamNG to 200% (vanilla is a max of 20% but makes is way less tight and detailed especially when the wheel is centered) ive been longing for a well modeled F1 car so that i can compare it to these legends.
@@NicOz42 thats what its for, to communicate what the rest of the car is doing, not only the front wheels. Id argue its more realistic to get a feel for what the whole car is doing.
So he basically states he hates driving anything in AC and doesn’t spend time with it. He clearly likes to drive in IR so he knows the sim and how to set up cars for success in it. Basically makes anything he says about comparing the two sims void and makes the entire point of the mute. AC was not going to get a fair opportunity. He also leaves out the fact that if you cancel you Iracing subscription you lose the car, it’s 4X as expensive as the AC version.
The fact your hotlap in iRacing was only .7 seconds slower than the one of Hamilton means the car is way to forgiving and easy to drive. That shouldn’t happen
i have a lap comparison video on my channel on red bull ring assetto corsa vs real life and it looks exactly the same as irl. you really need to change the setup in the rss cars, specifically the rear arb to make it drivable in the low speed corners
IR over AC for ffb? Hard disagree. Seems like you might need to tune your settings more. AC has so much more detail. Honestly it’s not even close for me. The newest iRacing update has helped but it’s still not as good overall. I never spin in AC and race online all the time. The FFB makes it so easy. iRacing has always been more vague and lifeless, it’s literally the primary reputation it has. Also why people mod the FFB in iRacing with irFFB. Not many people modding AC for FFB ;) Both are great and do things good/bad, but no way does Assetto lose to iRacing in terms of FFB and vehicle dynamics. Now excuse me while I go download that Merc and try it out!
I race iracing but with irffb all the time. Default is terrible and you can spin when not feeling the car go. With irffb I can balance the car on the brake and throttle and hardly ever spin.
I don't get the hype about the RSS Hybrid, it's vague on the limit and numb in slow speed, even the RSS F2 car feels better. I much prefer the SF70H which is original content in AC and feels very much like the W12 in iRacing. Also the default settings in AC are just noise. Set ABS, kerb and road to 0 and increase slip effect to a level you enjoy and have at it.
Interesting video, but have to say the AC RSS W12 is so so much more fun to drive at the limit, but I race the iRacing w12 for the online competition. Its a shame AC is not popular but it was up to them not to make a competitive online system. One day we will get the best of both worlds fingers crossed.
i think it's pretty obvious which version is better. question is, do you wanna buy a mod that costs more than the game does on sale, or iracing's insane price model
Agree and Disagree! iRacing Mercedes F1 with oficial support, of course is nothing but a great car... One of the best... in fact, so good that even disguises some iRacing basic flaws! AC RSS Formula is also nothing short of Great, and yes i agree AC curbs handling is one of the few minus AC still has...lets hope Ilja or some others, can also make One more miracle! That aside, i think also that the base setup of iRacing is more stable and firgiving than RSS...and i would say to much forgiving?!...No way you could catch or have a stable car in that Run off to gravel...either a flaw of the car or basic physics of iRacing, that i dont know! But the point where i definitly Disagree and think that you must have something very wrong in your AC setup, or it's that self confessed biased opinion, is when you say you feel disconected with FFB in AC...infact if there is something AC is the King of Sims, is the information and the sense of connection it gives you! @@toivonen1310 Honestly nowadays AC just got way to stuck on the road of graphical immersion to the point where the experience is being carried by the visuals rather than the driving, for me its lost the fundamentals (physics, ffb, etc.) and as time went on it became more of a crusing sim (or casual track driving sim) than a racing sim. AC falls flat when you actually try to race it especially now with the likes of iRacing, rF2, and hell maybe even ACC (can't be too sure as I only got to do minimal seat time with it. Physics extension is being worked, and altough very early development, already has taking some limits way in front...and i know that being helping in that department. Hi, in my case i can't even complete 3 laps in f1 2019 without crashing, whereas in asseto i am capable of doing an entire race why is the cause of this?
Not trying to be rude or anything, but a 1:08.6 is a pretty poor lap especially when trying to compare what the cars are capable of. A lot of the reason the Formula Hybrid felt so bad probably boils down user error.
Depending on the time available to put into iRacing, you can reach A license pretty quickly by starting from the pits and staying clear of any cars. And when are people going to finally admit that driving in iRacing is actually good. I used to be an AC fanboy but after a year of iRacing I don't actually like how AC feels any more. For some reason it feels like the tyres are made of plastic like a cheap child's toy car
I take it that AC was better than iRacing for the longest time, but the recent updates to iRacing seem to have cured it of a few curses it was reknowned for. Remember how many, many real race drivers complained about iRacing behaviours on grip loss/limit (usually while ditching the sim) at spring 2020? Looks like the devs finaly opened their ears to years long gripes... Pre-pandemia, Ermin would've never catched those few slides like he did now, and I suspect the clear winner / most confident car would've been reversed.
@@EddieOtool I couldn't really say as I've only used iRacing for the last year. But once you get past the pricing model, the online aspect destroys everything else. All that said, I do like to jump in on some of Gamer Muscles streams from time to time as it's good to just have a good blast with the banter. Agreed most of the haters of iracing don't like the pay structure so for them it's easier and cheaper to hate it than to pay for it. I could never justify the expense but what I've found And this is the thing most don't understand is that the subscription cost funds the development of the game as they can keep staff to progress the game and they stay long term rather than other developers only having a budget to keep development until a game is released. People think iracing is an old game and yes it was first released years ago but the reality is iracing has a new build generally with significant changes 4 times a year. I am happy to invest in a game rather than buying multiple titles that after a year or so they end up on a shelf and you buy the newer version.
@@EddieOtool main thing that helped was because of the collaboration with Mercedes, they didn’t just help them build the w12, they also helped iRacing improve their tire physics and other things before they even got to making the w12. That’s why the past year has seen many improvements to various aspects.
I agree. It's hard to explain in words, but the other sims just don't feel as connected. They don't have the same sense of speed. The cars don't feel like they have mass producing friction between the tires and the track surface. The limit is learned rather than felt. I'm sure I'm biased, but the longer I drive in iRacing, the more I find flaws in other sims. I have to disagree with Ermin about the graphics too. I think AC, in this case, looks like a game. It's over saturated and too bright. That might just be me though.
both are actually great since both have tons of content. however iracing is MUCH more expensive to get into. AC is better for newer people. oh and here's a tip start at something slow and easy. don't go with something like an F1 car.

iRacing also had the McLaren you spoke of.
Hopefully such dedication will be translated into other Formula 1 related games to improve drastically as well.
With Mercedes F1 car being released this week, the physics, aero, tires models will dramatically improve now as Mercedes is helping them also with that department.
already did that ever since November last year
Nice little reference to Austrias mental policy mate. Get those jabs in.
This is exactly why saying the official F1 game does not have the best physics because it needs to be accessible for everyone is complete bullshit. Good physics means it is easier to drive because it gets way more intuitive.
THIS.
Not to mention, that even the REAL F1 DRIVERS complained that the OFFICIALLY LICENCED F1 GAME by Codemasters is far too difficult to drive and has a massive lack of grip, downforce and traction.

im wondering what your ffb settings look like for ac. there are so many settings that can make it terrible if not correct. i rarely hear people say the at the limit feedback is vague
Absolutely. RSS do a stellar job.
I immidiately subscribed when i heard the ace combat 2 hangar/briefing music , you absolute ledgend
They do that in real life
Ok so now go back and watch some real F1 races from this year and see how many times the real drivers in the real world actually brake on the curbs and sometimes even kick up dust from hitting the grass.
Except that doesn't really add braking distance in a car with so much downforce
the steering gets hard at highspeeds following the downforce increasement.
What part of the AC tire model is a limiting factor compared to iR? Most North American team sim models are built with vanilla AC to begin with.
Oh can you imagine a full grid of manufacturers In iRacing? That would be something.
Just casually watching this in the school toilets...
That's dedication.
Great video. Love the new chanel name btw

lol maybe the problem is your settings mate because i have no issue driving on ac
iRacing gives a great sense of speed with the camera shake and sound reverb from the sides feels immersive.
Are you ever going to tell us what happened with overtake gg? Curious!
I wonder if Austria being "dystopic" is meaningful here?
Another great vid man! Since ive increased the side accel forces/g-forces in BeamNG to 200% (vanilla is a max of 20% but makes is way less tight and detailed especially when the wheel is centered) ive been longing for a well modeled F1 car so that i can compare it to these legends.
Why would you enable accel force? Isn't it just to simulate the G forces on the driver? That wouldnt be realistic.
Aha the comparison we've been waiting for!
The fact your hotlap in iRacing was only .7 seconds slower than the one of Hamilton means the car is way to forgiving and easy to drive. That shouldn’t happen
Why? I doubt he would be .7 sec slower in the real car having to deal with 5g of lateral forces..
Yeah, Ermin is at least 2 seconds/lap faster than Hamilton. Nerf the real world car, it's *clearly* too forgiving.
Thanks for the comparison. Curious about your thoughts on F1 in Automobilista 2 vs iRacing!
i have a lap comparison video on my channel on red bull ring assetto corsa vs real life and it looks exactly the same as irl. you really need to change the setup in the rss cars, specifically the rear arb to make it drivable in the low speed corners
Exactly, it's simply more dificult to setup
Epic video man!
Not many people modding AC for FFB ;)
Both are great and do things good/bad, but no way does Assetto lose to iRacing in terms of FFB and vehicle dynamics. Now excuse me while I go download that Merc and try it out!
Agree, i can't race without irFFB anymore
AC has FFB tweaks in CSP to make it better especially for DD wheels where it is quite rubbery and lifeless.
I race iracing but with irffb all the time. Default is terrible and you can spin when not feeling the car go. With irffb I can balance the car on the brake and throttle and hardly ever spin.
are you running a 20nm+ direct drive wheel set up correctly? if not i dont think you can criticise ffb of either game cause that’s on your end
@@Alex_zer0_Shoveller But it shouldn't be on our end, every other sim has great FF with ALL wheels, so why not iRacing?
I don't get the hype about the RSS Hybrid, it's vague on the limit and numb in slow speed, even the RSS F2 car feels better. I much prefer the SF70H which is original content in AC and feels very much like the W12 in iRacing. Also the default settings in AC are just noise. Set ABS, kerb and road to 0 and increase slip effect to a level you enjoy and have at it.
This view isn’t possible with VR? Maybe only cockpit view right?
The great thing is, that the partnership between iRacing and Mercedes is still going. They have confirmed that we will get the 2022 Mercedes soon
Interesting video, but have to say the AC RSS W12 is so so much more fun to drive at the limit, but I race the iRacing w12 for the online competition. Its a shame AC is not popular but it was up to them not to make a competitive online system. One day we will get the best of both worlds fingers crossed.

Is the AC one a mod? Because I have it on console, however you obviously can’t mod it on console. Are there many F1 cars on console for AC?
Hope you have a great day, Ermin!
But good review, and definitly both Great cars, but with diferent ways of getting it!
Oh, by the way, im also biased, i Think AC is still King, even more with latest updates of modding!
All the Best mate
I've been playing AC for 4 years and I have to disagree with you with the FFB, to me AC's FFB just feels numb and makes cars feel lethargic and uninspiring to drive...
@@zenastheracer Well, your opinion and case...cant change that.
My feeling is the same as most, if there is one thing that stands out in AC in the Experience of the regular user and more well known ones, including real drivers, is the FFB...can only feel sorry if, for whatever reason, you cant feel the same.
I love AC and what the modding community has achieved but the flaws of AC over time is just too obvious to ignore only for it to be covered up by fancy visuals.
@@zenastheracer Agree with you in the obvious, that is a normal limitation of a title that appeared quite sometine, but dont agree in that it ONLY survives because of only one aspect.
First that aspect is of capital importance, second CSP wich is the origin of that graphical aspect, is MUCH more than that!
Physics extension is being worked, and altough very early development, already has taking some limits way in front...and i know that being helping in that department.
But ALL the other titles have also flaws, and not hard to find, and some more Critical...lets just talk about how wrong iRacing tyre models were and continue to have some problems, AMS2 also wich explains the almost total revamp of physics in last update, RF2..talking about dated!lol
So yes, i Will like a new AC2 to be made, yes naturaly some signs of age, but AC was so well made in origin, and has such a strong modding comunity, that FOR ME still offers the most complete and enjoyable experience in Simulation!
Each one is own, lets leave it like that!

Think I could run this game with a i5 10400f and a 2060 ?
Ermin, I'd love it if you could compare the newest iteration of the iRacing Dallara IR-18 to the RSS Formula Americas 2020
Every other sim, racing online becomes a bumper car fest with no repercussions. Just win at all costs which doesn't actually teach you to drive respectfully and just leaves you deflated. All that said, I do like to jump in on some of Gamer Muscles streams from time to time as it's good to just have a good blast with the banter. If other Sims had similar implementation of rating and such , iRacing could be left dead in the water
I love how modable is AC and its my most played...but yeah ive tried iracing and acc and they are quite more interesting
Which sim is overall best for a newer racer?
both are actually great since both have tons of content. however iracing is MUCH more expensive to get into. AC is better for newer people. oh and here's a tip start at something slow and easy. don't go with something like an F1 car.
If you want to try wide range of >100 cars on numerous tracks, and also install mods, grab AC and pay once. There are online servers, but no rating systems. If you need iRacing online system, pay monthly rent and have 5 cars and 5 tracks, and pay for each additional car or track almost the same price that you would pay for AC on sale.
If you want to drive a lot of cars on a lot of tracks, AC. If you want to race other people at or near your skill level, iRacing.

The reaction on the kerbs is an AC problem. Only mapping one contact point is the issue here. That's a fundamental, baked-in limitation of the game.
