I beat Max in an MX5 race in an iRacing hosted session along with Shane Van Gisbergen one day by one tenth of a second. Happened over two years ago and I think I'll be riding that high for another 8 at least.
i think is easier to master the mazda on tracks , because is slow :D but try to master those faster GT4 or F1 cars on same tracks when they go 0-100 in 2seconds and if u turn with a little bit more throttle u do 360 and ur position is gg :D
Max being as quick as he is on the sim is incredible, mostly because the guys he's up against often do this as their job...so their chosen sim/car they drive day in, day out...Max doesn't have that luxury with his F1 schedule and fitness training. To be as quick as he is, is insane.
@@desertstormer7556 Well..the sponsorship money some of them get is better than most employers offer for regular jobs..but yeah, its a risk and the "dream" can disappear at any moment
Max stated in an interview that he DOESN'T have a racing sim on his airplane (1:49) but, instead, in his trailer/motorhome that he uses to drive to races in Europe. Personally, I don't think it's outrageous if he did have a racing sim on his airplane 🙂
That would not be allowed under EASA or FAA rules. He could transport it in the plane but not set it up permanently by bolting it in. That would go against a bunch of safety rules relating to power interfacing, aircraft alteration, etc.... Dassault would immediately step away from that aircraft as well.
Driver61 never let facts stand in the way of a good story... And saying that ProDrivers find iRacing the best sim is ignoring all the IndyCar and NASCAR drivers who had... less nice words for iRacing.
@@WromWrom what he said was the cars feel real to him and many of the pro drivers agree. The issue is, without all the other sensory inputs that subjective feeling is likely very skewed.
Not only does he have the sim installed in his plane but the rig is actually connected with the controls of the plane and provides realistic motion simulation.
You can drop Max in a shitbox and he'll still drag out times thought to be impossible, the kid is a genius and the more I learn and watch him, the more evident this has become to me. He'd be a champion in any Motorsport or car he drove, that's just nuts, very few drivers can pick up a new motorpsort so quickly and be quick too.
That Bathurst lap was one of the most incredible feats of driving that I've seen in my life, virtual or not. On the ragged edge the entire time, maximizing his use of the track... There's a reason he's a bloody champion.
If someone's finishing a real life session at Bathurst with their wing mirrors still attached, they're not pushing as hard as they could. :P The run down from Skyline is a c....errr cat's hair away from disaster with a good driver, and the way Max ran it... shivers down the spine! :D
Max already is a genius, no doubt about it. However his brutal dedication is not natural driven, like Senna, Lauda or Schumacher, but purely childhood trauma. Brazilian last year's GP made this clear.
I'd say the most impressive thing is how the game developers have managed to make the Sims so realistic that an F1 champion says the cars react like real life.
AI and modeling techniques are probably going to improve even more to the point you won’t be able to tell the difference between reality and a video game
@@nombatu6505 MFS isnt very realistic in terms of physics but many real pilots do love playing DCS, its essentially the Iracing of combat flight simulators
💯.... It's like the spirit of both came together in Max. No doubt when Senna or The Michael want to experience the exhilaration of racing from the other side they ride with The Max. Het Phenomeen 💪🦁👊
Yeah, he has Schumacher's aggressive Driving Style, his deep understanding of his own car, his work strict work ethic and Sennas dedication and pure driving skill.
Max is the real deal and has been for a long time. I’m a huge Kimi fan and when he overtook him on the outside, in the wet, at Brazil made me see how good he really is. Easily the BEST driver on the F1 grid right now
You should have also mentioned that he competed in the iRacing Porsche Esports Supercup in 2020 in the Spanish GP (wildcard). Qualified 6th and finished 2nd in the feature race, only behind his team mate (Benecke) who was competing for the championship and not attacked him because of it. PESC is the best sim racing championship yet and he almost won a feature race in a one off appereance...Mind blowing
If I remember correctly, he qualified for Pro season just like the rest of the field (best drivers from previous season like Benecke were already qualified). So it was not a wildcard, he just couldn't do more races because F1 season resumed.
One of, i have no doubt he is the best. He is like a hybrid of Schumacher and Senna and only their best qualities. There is a reason Lauda called him a once in a century phenomenon after he won Spain back in 2016.
He is one of the best, 2x champion already! Seems like one more is on the way with how the opening race of this season went (too early to say that though)
@@_Who_Am_I_And_Who_Are_You Less as in racing skill is subjective and can't be measured. The pure and full dedication to focus on one thing is praiseworthy. Racing fans are a specific kind of breed as well, meaning they like to see someone dedicating their entire life to racing.
Ive been iracing since 2009 and I only heard of the turn up the tire sounds/turn down the engine sounds trick like 3 months ago. I didn't even realize they could be turned up/down independently. It definitely helps me get more out of the rubber!
@@ccidral If you increase the tire sounds you can hear the tires scrubbing/slipping. If you want to extend your tire's lifetime you want to reduce this scrubbing, so the increased sounds can help you by saying 'I'm scrubbing now, back of a bit!'.
@@ccidral The sounds will help you to anticipate the car rather than react to it. I noticed, at least in the open wheel cars I drive, there are some very distinct tones which correspond to grip levels. The volume and pitch changes correspond to front and rear end grip. I noticed it especially on corner entry, from turn in to the apex. When practicing I was having "cleaner" wrecks, there was less guess work. It also compliments the force feedback in the wheel nicely.
Max is so talented I wish people could appreciate him without having to pit him against their fav driver. I've been a Lewis fan since I was a boy (25 now) but why can't we just appreciate talent...
Lewis a who got me to watch F1 during his debut in 2007. The hype was huge because of how great he was in a strong gp2 field. But nobody expected him to outrace reigning double champion Alonso in the same car, not even Alonso himself. When Ron Dennis made the decision to put Lewis as number 2 Alonso actually told Dennis they wouldn’t win the constructors championship. By the middle of that season, Alonso figured out he couldn’t keep up with his rookie teammate and literally impeded him from a qualy lap. Alonso’s ego was huge back then but he has since admitted respect for Lewis, even saying he had the ability to win in cars that had no right winning. Alonso said this is what makes Lewis phenomenal and Vettel just average. Long story, but I’ve been a Hamilton fanboy since his debut. Feel like his 8th was stolen in ‘21 from a blatant SC violation. But I have to give Max credit, he may be right up there with Hamilton in terms of skill. I do think Hamilton will always be the better wheel to wheel racer because he’s usually smart with overtakes and defense. Max literally takes it to the point that either you or him will crash if you don’t back out. And that’s why Lewis had so much difficulty racing him and literally nobody else his entire career. Lewis gets aggressive when he needs to but he always tries to leave space for the other driver. Max rarely, if ever, does the same. That’s the only way I can.m rate Lewis higher. I think they both extract about the maximum they can from each car but Hamilton can be very calm in very tense racing situations. His awareness is like no other F1 driver I’ve seen. He’s one of the cleanest racing multichampion, unlike Senna, Schumacher, or Verstappen (his first championship had loads of dirty driving, especially against Lewis).
@@mclarensaleenf7 very well written. I 100% agree with you. And i am a dutchie who is also lewis fanboy since the beginning. :) But like you said Max his talent is also incredible
@@mclarensaleenf7 I've noticed his defense abilities have waned immensely when the Mercs were so fast he was always driving a half lap ahead of the moat. He got little defense practise in that period. And in my opinion, his defense on those last corners in '21 was was horrible. Max just zipped past. And yeah, Ham was on worn out tyres, but I noticed his max speed on the straights was still higher than Max's and he could have used that to his advantage too. I mean, come on, your 8th title is on the line, I'd have made sure Max would have eaten rear wing everytime he tried to pass, even if it means a little dirty play. I am talking pure driver skills here, whatever was decided upstairs I am leaving for what it was. Just analyzing drivers and their actions/ inactions. I admit i am a Max fan, but I've never dissed Ham's skills as a driver, he really is that good and I would have applauded him getting his 8th. He just has a few weak spots and Max knows them.
Well said. I am glad to see my fellow Dutchies enjoy Max’s success but I’m sad to see that (many of them) they cannot appreciate his talent like real racing fans do… true fans love good, hard and fast racing
Indeed! Let we appreciate the fact that we can see several generational talents racing each other this year. Hamilton, Verstappen & Alonso. (Or: Mr. Consistency, Mr. Raw Speed, Mr. Relentlessness)
Who from which generation dominated karting like nobody ever before (Lewis, Norris, Albon and Charles won less combined than Max alone) and raced in F1 at 17 years old ?(would be the same if Messi debuted at 12 for Barca 1 and scored CL goal at 14) Talent of the century, he is the best the motorsport world has ever seen
Verstappen's driving style is very similar to Michael Schumacher's, in that Schumacher also liked a pointy car that he could make micro-corrections while turning in the corner. Raikonnen was also like that. It's one of 3 F1 driving styles that are most commonly known. There's the Prost driving style (very smooth, likes understeer, car rarely ever out of shape, one-time throttle input out of corners, easier on brakes and tires; Vettel and Button were like that) and the Senna driving style (aggressive attacking style, constantly on and off the throttle, moves the car around; Alonso and Hamilton are both like that).
Hamilton's is Senna-inspired at most, because the much more refined F1 cars today does not like the Senna style of hacking through the throttle and steering compared to the analog F1 cars of old.
Hamilton is a pure Prost driving style performer, he always had preference and drived understeery car set up all his mercedes years. It may sound more boring on paper because having a more understeery car is safer and easier to drive, and I'm not a fan if him but I have to admit that he truly masters the abilty to goes on the limit of the understeer and carry a lot of speed in entry and throughout the corner. But as Shumacher, Alonso, Verstappen and in a way Senna, is that having the ability to drive at the limit and with consistency an oversteery car and be able to micro correct at perfection, gaves you the fastest possible way to drive because of the speed it gives you at mid corner and especially out of it. Thus it is a more difficult way to drive and that's why there is only a few people who have shown the talent and dedication to make it to an other level
Max is a living embodiment of what a human can do if they achieve their potential. Granted, there is some natural gift in there also, but the man is almost a cyborg that has spent its entire life on a track, either real or virtual.
Not by his own hand. His dadplayed a major role in that no doubt. So it is raw natural talented that needs to be nrtured by yourself, but you also need guidance. Most people have shitty guidance were wedont even reach half of our potential. And many ppl give up.
@@JBKNL Well that's the formula it appears. Same with Messi, his father and particularly his grandmother were absolutely pivotal in forming that dedication at a young age.
@@JBKNL Max's father has a checkered past to say the least. But in a lot of ways Jos' experience in F1 has been key to Max being this good. The kid is scary talented but he has also benefit from being trained i[ by someone, who according to everything I read made every kind of mistake possible during his time in F1. The story about Jos purposefully oiling up the clutch so it would slip a bit reminded me of Tiger Woods saying they'd be having a matches together and his father would throw his keys at Tigers feet as he took the putter back. Jos was apparently overbearing and mean, but it also appears he and the kid were the right match.
@@JBKNL It also probably can't be understated that Jos was very close friends with Michael Schumacher. You can find lots of pictures with Michael and Max.
Max is an amazing driver. I know the battle between him an Lewis has been polarising to say the least, but he's in my opinion one of the greatest to have ever driven. I see him as a person with no fear and big balls. I think that goes a long way. No-one can takeaway just how good he is though.
The Brazilians and everybody else not fanboy’ing over Lewis Hamilton knew already in 2016: “What we are seeing is a talent of the century”-this was said by Dr. Helmut Marko’s archrival and then non-executive chairman of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, Niki Lauda 🫡 The Brazilian crowd were literally chanting _SENNA_ to Max after his masterclass in the rain 🇧🇷 When Max retires he will be the GOAT 🐐
@@JDYTC The real fans at the circuits have always appreciated Max. He was bullied via the media and on twitter, same as Rosberg was and now looks like Russell is getting it too.
Which is why I'm not bothered if he dominantes. Every generation has a dominant driver/team, but Max is different. I knew he was going to be a champion and the he was special since Brazil all those years ago. I'm enjoying every race because I know that domination will end at some point.
Motivation to work hard is something I consider a true virtue, no matter what the profession. I was impressed with Max the very first season he arrived in Formula 1. His cheeky pass on Bottas at Monaco and that iconic pass on Nasr at Spa, among others, made me curious to see more. I thought that's all just natural raw talent in one type of car, but now I see there are also countless of hours of work, that the guy actually tries to become, like, Leonardo da Vinci of race driving. Impressive.
The level of confidence Max had is what I admired the most, not afraid to face head-on against a completely different platform that is filled to the brim with alien talents to prove his speed.
I am a casual sim racer. Had the opportunity to attend a Porsche experience center to take an hour of instructed sports driving in a 911 4S. It was an eye opening experience to feel the weight shifts, tire load in trail braking an the occuring forces. "The real thing" is giving enormous feedback even when far away from the limit in contrast to a forces feedback wheel.
@@asimb0mb His Redline team members even said on dutch tv that he’s on the phone with them during practice sessions to discuss tactics and setups…he’s pretty dedicated
My best memory of racing Max on iRacing was fixed setup Ferrari GT3s, 15 minute sprint race, Daytona Road Course. Well ahead of me, Max and Kelvin van der Linde finished side by side across the line, Kelvin winning by a few thousandths. Just behind them in third was Lando Norris.
It is amazing to see his genetics, his upbringing and his character all in one person. Truly amazing. Sector 3 in Q3 in Monaco 23 was just one of these examples where complete genius skills executed with the biggest balls shows how freaking good he is.
it nice to hear that some people have changed their mind on max his skills... Although (imo) a lot of max his 'doubters' were reactionary anyway (reacting to the ontrack antics and the wave of max support) and in the back of their mind knew that the guy had the skills to back it up.
@@slowanddeliberate6893 with his incredibly succesful history from toddler to teenager (lol) it didn't make sense to think this, but with the world we live in there are lots of examples to make one think so. And he's not that easy to like a lot quickly, mixed with that perception it really became a dominant narrative among many. Props for reconsidering what maybe makes sense and doesn't make sense, most ppl just ignorantly hold onto one early perception
It is strange that being driver of a real race car, he can still feel the excitement of driving in sim. One of the answer must be that he is so competitive, he still needs more challenges to vent out his competitive energy.
True Max explained this one's. What attracts him is that you can instantly race whenever you want and the level of competition is pretty high. He also likes the fact that Iracing and Rfactor 2 are pretty realistic, he doesn't race the official f1 games for example.
He is unbelievable! This kid can drive!!!!! One thing I LOVE about his driving is his patience and situational awareness. He knows these tracks so well and knows exactly when to make his move, He is OK giving someone the lead knowing full well he will take it back a turn or 2 later. I would love one of these sims!
I can't afford to take my car to the track as much as I would want to so I got a cheap sim rig and used iracing to learn the local courses I was going to drive at. Instead of curing my need to go to the track it put it in overdrive. My new goal is to save up and visit all the local tracks in my area. The fact that max can do both at the highest level is just insane.
yup disproven. The cost of this would be astronomical as well...non standard equipment fitted to airplanes needs FAA/EASA approvals. The first guy that fitted a type of TV to his jet? massive costs. Hence most use the same type of TV's etc, as single equipment approval cost is insane. The cost of doing it with a sim rig is something else entirely. Wouldn't be surprised if the cost would be over a million. And then you have the internet issue. Over the ocean it simply isn't going to be very good.
Remarkable to translate skills and driving so well between real and virtual racing. Most sim racers utterly dedicate themselves to be being the best at that discipline. Max dominates sim racing in addition to being an F1 world champion. Insane talent.
I completely agree on the fact that when you are racing sim you don't have the seat feedback. The lack of G forces on sim racing I find it very difficult to adapt to. I'm used to dirt oval racing in real life and when I try it in Iracing it is ridiculously hard without the sensation of the grip on the tires. Pavement racing is a bit easier to translate from sim to real-life.
It's why it all checks out for Max. On the "Get to know the Grid" video that F1 released before the season, Max basically said "If I wasn't a racecar driver I'd be racing two wheels or management of some sort". Think he mentioned sim racing as well. Basically, this man is right where he belongs, he was always destined to be a high level racer with that kind of tenacity & desire.
I think doing both can be very valuable. I started racing the passes when I was 16 in a crappy NA subaru and it taught me how to corner without grip, steer using weight shifting, and feel through a corner. I eventually started sim racing, and it gives you a place to push your limits. You don't have to leave a safety margin in Assetto when you can just reset the lap if you crash. It lets you push your tires to the limit and expand your skills in a different angle.
To do something that much daily in different mediums, you have to be addicted to it. Max is extremely lucky that his addiction directly helps him improve his career. Many other drivers may relax by eating out, celebrating, reading books, watching movies, whatever, but Max literally relaxes by playing racing SIMs. It's a huge natural advantage for him. Even if it's not 1-to-1 practice for F1, it still helps and gets him more racing hours.
I think this is the single most balanced and mature video on comparing "real world" to "simulated" racing. I'm showing this video to any of the "iTs Not ReAl rAciNg" crowd.
The fundamentals are the same....it would be stupid if race teams would ignore talented simracers. Like Max said if they get the chance they can be good real racers for sure....I mean the talent pool alone which is off course bigger makes it interesting. Maybe in a couple of years we have the first F1 driver who started with simracing. I hope Max will invest in team Red Line in the future when he is retired, maybe he can help fund transitions from sim to real life.
I'm primarily a Schumacher fan, but after watching Max since his entry to F1, it's hard to imagine anyone could be a more capable driver. He now has no weakness at all. Even Schumacher dropped the ball on occasion, ether under pressure or or the odd silly mistake while leading. With Max you just know he won't make a mistake whatever the situation. Just unbeatable. Redbull is lucky he's so loyal, I bet the other top teams would pay any figure of money to sign this lad...
Max has impressed me, even more so in Sims then in real cars (and I was oddly enough able to work w/ him on the sim now and & his first time in cars back in Florida when he was 14) the expensive nature of racing VS. the direct connection to everyone in the world in gaming, makes sim racing (and gaming in general) far far more competitive and more difficult to reach the top. The fact that he can compete at the highest level in sim racing, is more impressive to me from a talent standpoint, then that he can compete against the top 1% of 1% of drivers that had access to the +$5million you need just to get through the lower ranks. because of this fact, racing has among the very lowest talent pools in the world, where as sim-racing (and gaming) has the highest talent pools and lack of barriers in the world. Although sadly now sim-racing you are starting to need $10k rigs to compete at the front....man my argument is getting weaker, but console games at least give a gateway for these talents to start out. This also means that the number one racing minds in the world are not real racers, but more likely sim-racers. [taking out the feel for the tires of course, which is the final, most important thing for ultimate pace, and where most of the top sim-drivers have struggled IRL]. To me its amazing that MAX can compete with the best racing minds in the world, and in fact so many other real -life drivers are surprisingly good at sim racing. (I don't think they put in the time that MAX does though), but I had Pat O'ward on the sim this week at St Pete (and he is never on a sim) and he was amazingly fast right off the bat. He was quite a bit faster then Grosjean whose on the sim all the time. They are both pretty similar on the real track, which tells me they get their speed in slightly different ways and perhaps Grosjean has a slightly stronger feel for the car and tires, but is very slightly weaker on the mental processing side then Pato?? There are some competitive aspects i like about real racing in terms of track time, over sim racing. If you are Rich with Time, you can just put in an insane amount of time and sorta create alot of muscle memory and discovery time in exploiting the track & physics. where as IRL racing, track time is very limited and you have to be more adaptive. Some drivers have that time and are sort of "programing" themselves more and they have a slight advantage in some respects and will be very fast. Ultimately, what I call the "adaptive" talents will have advantages in other respects on the sim, and often come out on top, but IRL you get very little track time and very different conditions from session to session, that the "programming" aspect is not nearly as heavy of an affect IRL. Ultimately, MAX is so super dedicated and does put in an insane amount of time IRL and the sim that it makes it hard to judge. We've seen super talents w/perhaps a slight bit more natural pace in the car, but he is the stongest talent all around, and I think hes SUPER strong mentality, as well as, his Mental Capacity to absorb everything is off the charts for IRL dirvers. This Mental capacity is essential for Pro Gaming and I think this is a large part of what he has that makes him the best driver in the world right now and of course he is still highly adaptable driver as well just makes him a killer among IRL drivers. hmmm, i'd love to compete with him in FPS gaming. In gaming terms, racing naturally is far more static, less adaptive, less competitive, and less mentally demanding then the top FPS games. Its just so dynamic and difficult and fun, I would love to see MAX compete in this. It be hard to say if he's aim would be quite good enough, but he really is working with a FPS level mental capacity to absorb those highly dynamic scenarios and would prob do super well there too.
I don't think Max is struggling with an under-steering car. He still won with an understeering car, beating checo in race pace, with a huge margin. He still beat leclear with an understeering car in the first half of the season. It is just that an understeering car is just slower than a pointy car. Max knows that the car can go faster but due to the under-steering nature of it, making people think he is struggling. But not much driver can push the car to the limit that feels that the under-steering nature is getting into their way.
The turning up the tires makes super sense cuz ur tires are extremely important. As long as there’s some type of key or marker u can tell when the tires are degrading but that crazy to the actual game production is that spot on
idk why but for me this doesnt work, i have played a lot in vr but i just like to race with my 21:9 monitor, its too complicated to start to play, too complicated to set the graphics to run well, the image is worse than a monitor even with maximum pixel density, and other reasons, and i cant have a second screen to change something while driving if i need...
You'll never get that same sense of depth and immersion unless you play in VR, I agree. Dirt Rally 2.0 is really fun in VR as well, and if your PC is good enough both games should run well as long as you really optimize the settings.
I have not a lot experience in VR but immediately got faster. I'm not able to put the same fast VR laptimes in on a screen For me it opened a whole new world of racing and I can't go back to a flat screen
@@WhtGooz4841 Max Verstappen is not driving in VR as well as all "pro" sim-racer I know of. From my experience using a fast display (or three) is more reliable.
I agree so much with mid engine weight distribution for getting rotation on turns. It’s crazy how the world record time on Bathurst was set with a front engine vehicle though. Makes you kind of curious about weight distribution relative to elevation changes throughout a track.
There's something called a butt kicker which adds vibration to different areas on a rig. It's amazing how it can replicate suspension travel or wheel slip, it gives more of a sensation that your in a car.
Max has a lot of haters, and its really unfair to motorsport in general to see. He is unbelievably fast in the real world and on the sims but all you ever hear is "crashstappen" or "cheater" from newcomers to f1 who arent motorsport fans but mostly just fans of Lewis and for 1 reason only too..
Nowadays, nuance is unfashionable. You need to have an extreme, polarised position and remain in an echo chamber. I'm for the same area as Verstappen: it's a fairly common family name in the Limburg area of the Netherlands and Belgium. So no prize for guessing whom I support. But yes, he can be a bit of a wanker. He wouldn't be where he is if he wasn't a wanker from time to time. What I admire most is his unflinching desire to be the best. It may not even be talent, although having parents who were both professional racers certainly helped. But there are also the many, many years of races, travelling to Italy, going in the van everywhere with his father. Starting with karts, and working their way up to F1. His father, who did drive F1, but never was as successful as his son. Bluntly put, Max is Jos' project to produce a world champion. And he managed.
"Crashstappen" is the nickname the young drivers gave him before he got to F1. He was well known in Gp2 for diving into corners and giving others a choice of crash or give way
I really can't wait to see him expand his horizons to wec and maybe indy for the triple crown, dakar would also be interesting, this dude is bread for racing and F1 isn't the only discipline out there
Correction max already said he doesn’t have a sim in his plane that was a joke Helmet made about max! He said he would never do that. But I do agree with you about his skills on a sim.
Max is just the Kobe of F1. Is not like other drivers who loves the sport. This kid LOVES the sport at lot. Like everything with a engine and wheels he gonna run it. He wake up,eat, breath and pratice the engines sports. He studied every single of them, he's dedicated, discipline and motivated. I won't be surrpise if Max end up ending his career as the greatest to ever be behind a wheel. And i won't be surprise if at one point he gets bored of F1 and jump into other divisions of racings. This kid is truly a generational talent
I wanna reply this video to everyone in instagram comments saying its just the car. In sim games, everyone has the same opportunities, yet he is still extremely fast in any given car.
Senna was greatest to ever hold a steering wheel.. there were stories told about Senna being competitive in Rally car.. He turned up to test for Penske (indycar) and within minutes he was going faster than the Penske drivers.. When Lewis was winning he was still NOT on Senna's level.. but with Max the more I've seen the more that he reminds me of the GOAT.. his speed mentality and Charisma... a pure racer and not a wanna be Celebrity ..
Max was born and raised to be exactly where he is today. He probably can't tie his own shoes, but he is one of the best drivers in the world today. Id like to see him drive a winged sprint or a silver crown on dirt
No proof at all. We don't know if he would be slower withour sim. I doubt it has much benefit. Hamilton and Schumacher both disliked simulators. Do you think it would have made them even faster? Highly unlikely
This is why I love Max Verstappen. He is ruthless and amazing to watch. It's also why I don't like to see him dominate. We don't get to see him doing the crazy stuff he's known for.
I havent watched F1 in a long time but Senna also was very agressive in his driving style. I remember he was once interviewed and asked if his racing style isnt too harsh/agressive and he answered something like "I dont race to become 2nd, I race to win".

Him and Michael best ever there were. Since 1996 i never seen such a talent, only those 2 . And I watched seasons with Prost Senna Mansell ... We are witnessing Masterpiece!

Just downloaded iRacing after almost 3 years of buying my g29. I finally gathered the courage . I´ll just finish my meal and get into it. I've seen a ton of vid since then, and this is one of the best. Cheers!
I used to race against Lando in iRacing when he was in Formula Renault 2.0 in 2016. He was always a little faster but more than that, so much more consistent. Didn't think he'd become an awesome F1 driver lol
I've noticed a huge difference when it comes to things like drifting. I can't get it right on a sim compared to real life where its just completely feel and the sim has no feel when it comes to grip and inertia
Perfect distribution of the developers making the SIM as real and plausible as possible and the SIM players learn the mechanics behind each cars characteristics. To the point where a real professional Formula 1 competitor actually are impressed by the SIM players lap times! To me, this is so fuc*ing cool and interesting!
People always imagine max either got into f1 due to connections with Jos and Schumacher and that he had mediocre skills, however his talent was proven when he was granted an f1 position immediately through f3 and showed even in his first season that he knew how to drive, he also didn’t have the best childhood, Jos treated him very poorly, even finishing second wasn’t enough for Jos, so Max grew up always Thinking he wasn’t enough, Always fighting for the approval of his dad. That is were his killer instinct comes from, the only desire he has on track is to be first and to show that nobody matches him. And he’s proven this right, he has a similar style to both Schumacher and Senna, in the way that he doesn’t care what happens, he has determination and will fight to the very end, he will push any car to the absolute limit, even limits that seemed impossible to reach, look at his jeddah qualifying lap or his brazil rain race or even a recent Belgium race, he never gives up, he is always reaching for more, he is angry at himself if he makes a mistake, he will push any car to the physical limit and beyond that, and that is a quality only the greats possess. Max is undoubtedly already among the greats, doing things that seemed impossible, being the youngest f1 racer, being the youngest grand prix winner and i’m sure more will come, he is still young and obviously still makes mistakes here and there, but many other greats have said (alonso, lauda) have said that he’s a talent only seen once every hundred years. I am not discrediting any other greats, hamilton is obviously amazing and also an amazing talent, but he’s coming to and end, and max is only just beginning. If max truly continues like this, which i don’t doubt he will, he might even become on par with all the absolute best if not even greater. Only time will tell, but i look forward to watching F1 as long as i can to see the greatness of many other drivers.
Raced him in mx5 I racing , he was pure balls out , I was above average and came 2nd. He was 3 seconds ahead per lap. Raced Rubens barichello, rob huff, lando norris, no one compared to max
I beat Max in an MX5 race in an iRacing hosted session along with Shane Van Gisbergen one day by one tenth of a second. Happened over two years ago and I think I'll be riding that high for another 8 at least.

@@napttusen An onboard video, yes. Prost was also exciting to watch onboard
Spot on. You got it right
Hamilton is mix of all 3 combined i think

I thought that's all just natural raw talent in one type of car, but now I see there are also countless of hours of work, that the guy actually tries to become, like, Leonardo da Vinci of race driving. I urge everybody to go and watch that Bathurst Quali lap he did in full. Its absolutely unreal.
His jet does not have a sim... Was that not disproven?
Yes it was.
I think he clarified that it was a misunderstanding, the sim is in his RV/motor home that goes to the races with him.
It literally doesn't make sense to put rig on jet. Only if he wants to practice offline
@@thecompanioncube4211 there's wifi in planes in 2023
yup disproven.
I raced with him on iRacing and he has unbelievable control of the car.
It’s impossible to replicate his braking style even with €1200 pedals.
Having seen this video I'm starting to warm a bit to Max, good on him.
It's evolution. Max is the evolved racing driver due to his sim experience.
@@slowanddeliberate6893 Yeah, i agree, i also think that the reduced feedback from the sim helps tremendously at getting better in real life.
The dedication that max has, either be sim racing or F1 is remarkable and respect worthy for sure.
Dude has the champions mentality
Max has impressed me, even more so in Sims then in real cars (and I was oddly enough able to work w/ him on the sim now and & his first time in cars back in Florida when he was 14)
the expensive nature of racing VS. the direct connection to everyone in the world in gaming, makes sim racing (and gaming in general) far far more competitive and more difficult to reach the top.
He doesn't drive the sim like an F1 racer... he drives the F1 car like a sim racer.... it's all good. He's a beast.
Although he grew up without playing the sim and raced real karts and whatnot, so he's more of a hybrid i guess.
he drives everything like karts
This proves Max is the GOAT, his talents in racing is something you don’t see with other drivers that often
WRC drivers are laughing at your comment.
@@mrGTRspec F1 drivers are good at rally, while rally drivers cannot even go near F1
The simrig is in his jet was misreported. I believe it was his motorhome.
He was also a top 25 player in fifa at some point, i mean the man is insane!
The turning up the tires makes super sense cuz ur tires are extremely important. As long as there’s some type of key or marker u can tell when the tires are degrading but that crazy to the actual game production is that spot on
I been playing a lot of Asseto Corsa in VR and I have to say it’s amazing, once you get use to VR it’s hard to go back.
idk why but for me this doesnt work, i have played a lot in vr but i just like to race with my 21:9 monitor, its too complicated to start to play, too complicated to set the graphics to run well, the image is worse than a monitor even with maximum pixel density, and other reasons, and i cant have a second screen to change something while driving if i need...
You'll never get that same sense of depth and immersion unless you play in VR, I agree.
Dirt Rally 2.0 is really fun in VR as well, and if your PC is good enough both games should run well as long as you really optimize the settings.
I have not a lot experience in VR but immediately got faster. I'm not able to put the same fast VR laptimes in on a screen
For me it opened a whole new world of racing and I can't go back to a flat screen
He always maxed out his potential, he should be called Max.
Max is the Goat thats why. His dad Jos trained him so well he deserves credits for max his performance.
Considering the current society and what happen to F1 in recent years. I can see why Max was "disliked"
I hope you don't think what the dutch fans say about lewis is any different? F1 has become the new football.
"Crashstappen" is the nickname the young drivers gave him before he got to F1. He was well known in Gp2 for diving into corners and giving others a choice of crash or give way
@@Swindondrive He's ruthless. So was Senna. But nobody whines about Senna.
I'm also really impressed on the level of software that allows real life to merge so well with virtual.
I really can't wait to see him expand his horizons to wec and maybe indy for the triple crown, dakar would also be interesting, this dude is bread for racing and F1 isn't the only discipline out there
He will never race in indycar sadly. Max was very clear of that 😔
@@JRSSV Yup, doesn't care for the risk. He isn't interested in the triple crown, becoming F1 champion is all he ever cared for.
Correction max already said he doesn’t have a sim in his plane that was a joke Helmet made about max! He said he would never do that. But I do agree with you about his skills on a sim.
Congratulations on 1 MILLION subscribers!! 🎉🎉
Thanks m8
Your welcome honey any time
Don’t forget that this guy is somehow also on of the best Fifa players in the world
I do wish Max could race in the WEC. I'm so curious to see what he could do in tracks like Le Mans, Bathurst and Sebring.
Im sure he will race there one day, he already told that he might quit F1 after his current Red Bull contract expires
No wonder Max has said he's considering other types of Motorsport. He'll dominate whatever he's in.
He was also top 21 in FIFA in world rangings 💀
Max was born and raised to be exactly where he is today. He probably can't tie his own shoes, but he is one of the best drivers in the world today. Id like to see him drive a winged sprint or a silver crown on dirt
Max is the proof that Sim helps real life racing
Not at all. He's an outlier/genius from whom you cannot draw conclusions about anyone else...
As is Jimmy Broadbent.
I could see Max trying to get his pilots to do some aerobatics to simulate the G forces in the sim
yeah bathurst is really hard, I found myself adjusting the brake bias and swaybars on some of the corners to induce understeer or oversteer
I watched the Ver / Per qualifying lap video right after this one 😂 everything is gained on … corner exit 😂
Slow in, fast out. That’s Max. One of the early brakers of the F1 grid.
I havent watched F1 in a long time but Senna also was very agressive in his driving style. I remember he was once interviewed and asked if his racing style isnt too harsh/agressive and he answered something like "I dont race to become 2nd, I race to win".
Honestly! Max should also win a LeMans trophy! That would be incredible!
Exclent video Scott! Love your break down of his SIM Racing vs his real world driving.
Max is a racing prodigy. Bosstappen.
He's also a top FIFA player isn't he. Just a very competitive individual.
he is, driver talentwise, the absolute GOAT in my opinion.
Max Verstappen, sim gamer and F1 driver.
Lando, Twitch streamer, part time F1 driver.
Yuki Tsunoda, chef, interim F1 driver.
Kimi, rally driver, F1 hobbyist.
Him and Michael best ever there were. Since 1996 i never seen such a talent, only those 2 . And I watched seasons with Prost Senna Mansell ...
We are witnessing Masterpiece!
Guess you were sleeping for the last 8 years, or were just a racist. 🤣🤣🤣
Agreed, Schumacher and Max are the best I've seen in my 40 years of watching F1
Lewis is very close to those 2 though.
And Mansell is my all time favourite (not the best but my favourite)
@@Coxy-b34 Mansell was a warrior, very brave he was ! And he could have more titles is Senna wouldn't crush him in rear of the car ,I think it was Monaco . He could do same to Senna ,but he didn't same like max didn't in 2021 (massive respect to them) Ham in 2007 like Leclerc last year crushing Max got that calculator in his head like Michael did ...when to save when to push and in general true leader
@@TrueBeast33 Mansell could have/should have been at least a 3 time world champion in the era of Senna and Prost if it wasn't for a great deal of bad luck.
I almost wish that 'genius' level drivers weren't produced each generation because it ends up making the sport a bit boring.
The Messi of motorsport.
Messi does'nt barge!
Funny, I never knew Messi was a petulant child who is incapable of dribbling past someone without pushing them off the field.
Messi has only one World Championship. OK, that comparison isn't fair because the FIFA World Cup is only every four years. When it comes to dedication, I'm thinking more Ronaldo. And when it's about winning more titles, Mbappé.
@@SeverityOne Mbappe has only won one too
@@SeverityOne mbappe is 🤮
Just downloaded iRacing after almost 3 years of buying my g29. I finally gathered the courage . I´ll just finish my meal and get into it. I've seen a ton of vid since then, and this is one of the best. Cheers!
Schumacher added fitness to the drivers program. Or took it the next level. Max is doing this with the virtual world.
That's crazy that max jumps on iracing after just finishing an f1 grand Prix and all the shit that goes with it. The guys lives to race.
Nice timing right after qualification :)
Great informative stuff, must say that I've run at Bathurst in a real car flat out, it's a scarily brilliant circuit.
Awesome Video!
its great to have a personalities like Max in simracing and race against them 🙏
Keep going 🔥
Perfect distribution of the developers making the SIM as real and plausible as possible and the SIM players learn the mechanics behind each cars characteristics. To the point where a real professional Formula 1 competitor actually are impressed by the SIM players lap times!
To me, this is so fuc*ing cool and interesting!
TeamLH dislikes this 😂 Max is almost unstoppable for many seasons of f1 to come I think given that his car is also rapid
He is inevitable, give him a competitive car and he drags it out on top, not to mention what he does in a dominant one.
He's truly a talent. Watched him drive the Nurburgring 24h last weekend. The laps he put in there was absolutely amazing.
I loved him in hungry last year he. Never gives up in in Austin bad pit stop
He brings up a good point about the sim. It’s hard to get used to sim racing when you’ve been racing with feel
I see Max winning the triple crown of motorsport in his mid-thirties
I thought I’d love sim racing. But I struggle getting the same joy I do as from driving/karting because I can’t ‘feel’ it.
Because max verstappen is a real racing genius
Max resembles pretty much close an 2020's Ayrton Senna in the sense that they both really got into 'being a total driver', cheers from Brazil.
Raced him in mx5 I racing , he was pure balls out , I was above average and came 2nd. He was 3 seconds ahead per lap. Raced Rubens barichello, rob huff, lando norris, no one compared to max
