These "collectors" have pretty much killed my childhood dream of owning an MKIV, I started pining for one at 13 years old when an older neighbor of mine brought home a 94 white Targa automatic, this was in 2000. I am now 33 years old and the car I always dreamt of owning has become a moving target that I will never achieve and honestly even if I could afford to own a $100,000 Supra I do not know if I could justify spending that much on one. Depending on what your preferences are, there are Supras around online for &$50,000-$60,000 (but for the most part they're JDM). Hopefully there will be a dip in the market since the price is unachievable for most, as I'm someone who dreams to own a Supra as well. I'm planning a trip to Japan and one of the things I want to do there is try to find a gem for a decent price! For now though we can all pray the prices come down a bit
Probably not. The market for JDM hero cars like the MKIV Supra will level out I bet. For years average Mopar cars were going for a hundred thousand dollars and that market collapsed.
Lol no. The prices already are at huuuge rip off levels. They're nowhere near worth it unless you've got some unhealthy obsession with Supras or you're ridiculously rich and just want one to add your your collection of iconic cars. There are much nicer, more refined and sorted cars that you can get for these prices now. Porsche Cayman/Boxster springs to mind, and that actually has real status other than getting attention from 12 year old boys and retards who go "iS tHaT a SuPrA?!"
A couple of my neighbours had them in the 00's. Always thought they were the prettiest car that was somewhat attainable price wise. Turns out too many other people thought that too.
Another great video, these kind of documentary style videos bring out your best side (love the regular content too) . This channel is a diamond amongst the rough.
At 29 I've wanted a supra since browsing supraforums back when I was 14 and wondering when I'd have the 25k for a TT 6 spd. Now I'm almost in reach for a 50-60k price tag yet it feels so far!
Very well put-together video. Although people say the F&F put the MKIV on the map what got me interested was Christian Rado, Vinny Ten, Craig Paisley, the Titan Supra, Walser, and Ken Henderson who made big power on stock blocks. You knew you had something special at the time. I’ll hang onto my MKIV for as long as I can until it’s time to retire in 25 years.
You are so underrated. Your new videos are awesome. If u were a publicly traded company, I would buy so many shares of ur stock. Do one on the Toyota MR2. I noticed this younger generation, don’t appreciate the MR2 like we did. (I’m an X-ennial, HS class of ‘96) so I was deep in the middle of the import racing scene when it first began and saw its prime and decline.
@@albonfilms your welcome. I’m not trying to troll, but u def have the best informative auto content with straight to the point details on TH-cam IMO. Bought an rx7 fd in 2008 for 10,500 CAD with 74,000kms on it. Still have it. I remember seeing upgraded r32 gtr’s on the lot for 13k and mk4 supras for 18k
Very well done video 👍 I was lucky enough to pick my NA up in May of 2018 for 20k. Then shortly after even the Na’s skyrocketed even more. It’s been the best daily though. I love it, even in all its slowness.
My girlfriend bought her white 1998 NA auto with 78k miles for $25k out the door. Perfect interior, with OEM wheels, and nothing missing. Truly lucky find.
The Supra is the only car I drove before Launch day. I remember driving down the M602 near Manchester and returning a well abused supra to RRG. A great car even now, in 93 it was a spaceship.
When a a semi-affordable sports car becomes a collector vehicle things have gotten out of hand. Being the owner of a collector car I can say that it's actually not very enjoyable. I prefer to drive than than store and appreciate.
Absolutely and it's such a struggle for an enthusiast because even if you paid very little for the car, the fact that it is appreciating makes you second guess every mile you put on it, and that's heartbreaking when these cars are so good to drive.
@@epoxeclipse The biggest help when it comes to working on cars is having strong aftermarket support imo. Supras have huuge support for example. Makes it a lot easier, not just in parts, but also knowledge and guides.
The MK4 Supra is literally my favorite Supra in my humble opinion. I just can't believe that prices are going so high if they're in mint condition. I remembered when I was on eBay a little while ago I literally found a Nissan Skyline GTR R34 I forgot the specific trim that was sold for $230,000. That's crazy that someone was willing to buy it. However it wasn't Paul Walker's Nissan Skyline GTR R34 from "2 Fast 2 Furious" or "Fast & Furious". Last time I checked, those prices on popular cars like for example the Nissan Skyline GTR R34 and Toyota MK4 Supra are basically supercar aka exotic car prices if you think about it.
@Nissan Silvia S14 Facts💯💯💯💯 If I had $230,000 I would buy a affordable house if I was on a budget looking for a house. Yes you're right you can buy 2 R35 GTR's that will pretty much equal to $230,000.
worst part is back in 2009 i wanted to buy a manual turbo toyota supra for 6000nzd with the money i had earnt but my dad said it was a terrible investment 24 year old me is seriously screaming at 13 year old me right now
I bought a Lexus sc300, lives on the same exact platform as the mark 4 Supra. Did the engine work, threw a big t68 turbo on it and manual swapped it. Closest I’ll ever have to a real Supra, but it makes me happy. And does STUTUTUTU
Amazing video as always, Albon. It's the same way I feel about R34 GT-Rs. A dream car of mine way before F&F, and now I think it'll stay as a dream T^T
I’m so proud to have bought mine for $16,500 back in 2017 that was basically luck, I got on a plane and drove that car 27hours back home and it was the best day of my life, everyone asks me why don’t I sell ? THE SHOW GOES ON ! IM NOT FUCKING LEAVING !
Damn, I never realised how much these things cost in the US. The most expensive I’ve seen here in the UK recently was one with a Top Secret GT300 Bodykit. That was for sale for £30,000. But I’ve seen many for sale around £10,000 and under.
As much as I have loved the A80 as a kid, I feel that the internet has really ruined the car for me especially how overrated it is and how its value has skyrocketed At least right now, Toyota has brought back the new Supra in collaboration with BMW and yes it is not something based on the A80 but this is indeed a spiritual successor to the 2000GT, the grandfather of the Supra hopefully I get to drive one and maybe own one
The new Nissan 400Z is a better and probably cheaper example of a proper JDM revival than the BMW supra. I would wait for that to release. Looks quite promising.
my dad got a blue shappire 1994/96 supra he imported from japan in 2008 right before i was born. it does not have a lot of milage and that iconic spoiler. it just a little bit tuned making between 350 to 400 horsepower. its an hardtop and an manual. i think its beautiful
You do realise it's comments like this that cause the price to skyrocket? It's all a facade, it doesn't exist. Fact is it's a decent car, but it's a 30 year old Toyota that up until the last 5 years, was a favourite among ricers, particularly the NAs.
In 2015 I bought my JDM 95 Supra hard top 2jzgte 6 speed V160 diff B03B original Silver metallic (199) but now Blue Mica Metallic (8L5) for $17,142 and still have it 😁

Funnily enough, the most expensive non-movie Supra was auctioned off for $265K after it was seized by the police from a drug dealer. It was a 1998 turbo 6 speed manual with 23K miles.
Dude i work with has a fully built mark 4, silver, target top, manual. He’s technically the second owner but he bought it back in the late 80s with 300 miles on it. Fully built at certified shops, motor, huge turbo, suspension, body kit, interior. Everything. Puts down 1500hp in its highest map. Waxes it 30 times a year if not more. It is the most beautiful car i have ever seen. Has 13k miles on it. Say what you want about people buying modded supras, that man is going to sell that car for a fortune one day.
This is the definition of a total hype car. Back in my street racing days these could never compete from a dig. They either spun too much or were lag monsters. I lost any desire I ever had to own one. The GTR on the other hand, well that's a different story.
i hate the fact that this car was simply supposed to be a fun sports car a teen could get for his/her birthday but now its just a overpriced collectors token
I grew up around surpass. They're cool. They're not worth the price people are throwing at them though. The point is to have fun in my opinion. There are plenty of better options. At this price point its become about the flex.
Yeah haha, it definitely ends on a sad note, but I suppose that's our reality. I often think about if I should just keep the Supra I have forever, but I also want that ideal Supra for me. A hardtop turbo 6-speed, maybe in Anthracite or painted in RSP...
Well after watching this video makes me feel like I won lottery 24 years ago. 1997 I purchased my 1994 Toyota Supra NA 5spd, cost $30k. Engine and transmission are 100% stock / original w/172k miles It drives like the day I bought it if not better. extremely reliable, 24years of ownership it has never left me stranded not even with a flat tire. I don’t drive it much these days but when I do it’s a lot of fun.
If you had $176,000, would you spend it on a Mk4 Supra? What would you buy instead of a Supra?
Yeah i surely would choose supra, but if not, it would've been a 200sx s14 :)
Yep, OG USDM TT 6 Speed Hardtop would definitely be worth the $$$$
As much as I love it with cars like the

Hopefully there will be a dip in the market since the price is unachievable for most, as I'm someone who dreams to own a Supra as well. I'm planning a trip to Japan and one of the things I want to do there is try to find a gem for a decent price! For now though we can all pray the prices come down a bit
Im so sorry for you.
Just get a Z32 while you still can
The sad reality is that in 10 year we are gonna look at these prices and think they were such a great deal at the 100k $ value
@Porsche 911 993 yes, Beatles are quite cheap
Thank god I’ve found another person with a brain😂
Rudi Goldblatt don’t be mad you broken
@Esh911 has gotten bloated and fat, for clueless posers with 💰. A modern day porsche enthusiast now buys the lighter weight GT, GT2, GT3 RS series
A couple of my neighbours had them in the 00's. Always thought they were the prettiest car that was somewhat attainable price wise. Turns out too many other people thought that too.
My dream is a stock red 1998 turbo with a tan interior and a targa top....and obviously a manual....and high miles so I don't feel guilty driving it
Another great video, these kind of documentary style videos bring out your best side (love the regular content too) . This channel is a diamond amongst the rough.
I appreciate that so much Robster! I'll try to make more in this style!
You're absolutely right! Those guys set the scene for Supras to have the legend that they hold now.
Thank you for the kind words! I will definitely make one on the MR2!
@@albonfilms your welcome. I’m not trying to troll, but u def have the best informative auto content with straight to the point details on TH-cam IMO. I guarantee 100% u make the FD3S, SW20, even maybe a Toyota Celica All-Trac video (I’m not sure if this younger generation knows what that is but back in the 90’s HS time, u were dope for having the All-Trak) and u are going to blow up like the Supra in value. Now if There was only a way to invest in ur company. 🤔
Bought an rx7 fd in 2008 for 10,500 CAD with 74,000kms on it. Still have it.
I remember seeing upgraded r32 gtr’s on the lot for 13k and mk4 supras for 18k
So glad I have a MK4 Supra today.

@@skrrt1156 same lol
@@skrrt1156 because I also have an R34 Skyline as well

Supras are cheap here in japan, you can get them for ¥1,000,000($10,000) and the low mileage ones for somewhere around 5~6million yen ($50~60K)
Careful people have been known for stealing cars and importing them.
The Honda S2000 is next starting with the CR versions.
Absolutely, they are going for insane numbers!
Yea but I’m starting to see more driving around now people are buying them for sure
S200 are in the 30k range.
@@sab0024 don’t be surprised seeing them go for 60k-80k one day. The club racers already are going for 50k+ on auctions
@@NightsN2dr3ams definitely not as high as the supra but in time, they’ll be the roadsters to have
Imagine finding out you still have a supra bonestock and low milage. You will be swimming in money in about a few years.
I've got one with only intake and exhaust but it has 113k miles.
This feels like a donut media video also because of the music
Thats what i said on one of their videos
This guy is way better than donut IMO. No annoying sponsors, no yelling, just straight facts, and I like listening to him talk.
Very well done video 👍 I was lucky enough to pick my NA up in May of 2018 for 20k. Then shortly after even the Na’s skyrocketed even more. It’s been the best daily though. I love it, even in all its slowness.
Picked up my NA with 50k miles for 20k a couple months ago😋 got really lucky
My brother had a beautiful 93 NA 5 speed that he sold a while back. It really was so nice to drive, but definitely a bit slow. Enjoy your car!!
My girlfriend bought her white 1998 NA auto with 78k miles for $25k out the door. Perfect interior, with OEM wheels, and nothing missing. Truly lucky find.
You didn't need to tell me this... thanks for making me depressed even more!
I was expecting 14 minutes and 10 seconds of a image of an empty wallet.
The Supra is the only car I drove before Launch day. I remember driving down the M602 near Manchester and returning a well abused supra to RRG. A great car even now, in 93 it was a spaceship.
Here in Austral the prices are SKYROCKETING!!!! a Turbo 6 speed is selling for around $100,000 and the thing is they are only good up!!!!
I spent my money on the LP-700. Supra =😴
Actually tho?
When a a semi-affordable sports car becomes a collector vehicle things have gotten out of hand. Being the owner of a collector car I can say that it's actually not very enjoyable. I prefer to drive than than store and appreciate.
Absolutely and it's such a struggle for an enthusiast because even if you paid very little for the car, the fact that it is appreciating makes you second guess every mile you put on it, and that's heartbreaking when these cars are so good to drive.
Except.. The last good sports cars were made in the 90s.
@@epoxeclipse No.
@@X50505 You can still work on 90s sports cars, the computer was less complex they didnt have drive by wire..
Yes you're right you can buy 2 R35 GTR's that will pretty much equal to $230,000.
worst part is back in 2009 i wanted to buy a manual turbo toyota supra for 6000nzd with the money i had earnt but my dad said it was a terrible investment 24 year old me is seriously screaming at 13 year old me right now
i checked the marked at that time non turbo and or auto onces started at like 3-5 in my country
Can always get a GTT!
@@albonfilms true haha but my NISMO Z is fulfilling the FR layout for me

Feels like yesterday the 1st The Fast and the Furious movie came out. Time flies, or maybe......I just live my life a quarter mile at a time.
Got my Bonestock Minty JDM Supra earlier this year for 38k I think I got a steal only 90k kilometers or 56k miles ❤️
I expect that the RX-7, R32, Silvia, and the underdog A70 Supra to continue to increase in price. Get one while you can.
R32's are already pretty much doubling in value each year here in Europe. It hurts man
Damn, I never realised how much these things cost in the US. The most expensive I’ve seen here in the UK recently was one with a Top Secret GT300 Bodykit. That was for sale for £30,000. But I’ve seen many for sale around £10,000 and under.
It's on my the USDM ones making 100k+ the jap imports are far cheaper.
As much as I have loved the A80 as a kid, I feel that the internet has really ruined the car for me especially how overrated it is and how its value has skyrocketed
At least right now, Toyota has brought back the new Supra in collaboration with BMW and yes it is not something based on the A80 but this is indeed a spiritual successor to the 2000GT, the grandfather of the Supra hopefully I get to drive one and maybe own one
I agree. When I was a kid and Supra’s weren’t really that popular, I loved It because it was underrated in its time. Man how things have changed
@@MaddNomad1015 yeah sadly like at this point of time a Skyline GTR would be more reasonable
Yeah it's such an interesting story, you can't buy the Mk4, and people are too opinionated to buy the Mk5. Catch-22!
@@albonfilms oh I’m most likely going to get one soon. Just waiting for the first year bugs to reside.
30 years ago my dad bought a Dark red supra Mk4 in Germany and it costed like 10.000$
Supra prices are SKYROCKETING buy one asap! they are getting sooo expensive
funny, those same Mark IV supra owners can't even sell their cars. I wonder why?
You do realise it's comments like this that cause the price to skyrocket? It's all a facade, it doesn't exist. Fact is it's a decent car, but it's a 30 year old Toyota that up until the last 5 years, was a favourite among ricers, particularly the NAs.
Awesome documentary man. Got my TT 6 speed for 20K six years ago. Never selling.
better not
In 2015 I bought my JDM 95 Supra hard top 2jzgte 6 speed V160 diff B03B original Silver metallic (199) but now Blue Mica Metallic (8L5) for $17,142 and still have it 😁

Title: here’s why you can’t afford a Toyota Supra
Everyone’s brain: wow so much hope
This was such a well done video from the editing to the information, you did a great job. Love the effort you put in with the time stamps too well done keep up the great work man!
Its sad because people are just buying them for investments and not actually buying them to drive and enjoy it.
This is the definition of a total hype car. Back in my street racing days these could never compete from a dig. They either spun too much or were lag monsters. I lost any desire I ever had to own one. The GTR on the other hand, well that's a different story.
I want an RX7 so badly even though the engines are...interesting
i hate the fact that this car was simply supposed to be a fun sports car a teen could get for his/her birthday but now its just a overpriced collectors token
Wow! This was a Documentary! Amazing video.
I knew Supra when I was eight and it was my childhood car.
This has been very informative. Damn, I am poor.
I grew up around surpass. They're cool. They're not worth the price people are throwing at them though. The point is to have fun in my opinion. There are plenty of better options. At this price point its become about the flex.
Great video! However it definitely bummed me out lol. Unfortunate that the prices went up so high for potential buyers.
My dream car, that’s why I have a A70 Supra as closes as I can to the A80 Supra. Love my A70.
