I thought jaguar and or Land Rover were bought by the Chinese recently I thought within the last 2 years, not sure which brand and I’m not very confident on that, but I thought I heard that somewhere online
Aston Martin is living in a world where they not as sporty, nor as luxurious as bentley. Idk what renaissance you speak of when they arent even unique in their own country.
@trophiee they've always been sportier thsn Bentley, and recently they released two hypercars, three GT cars, and one SUV. The latter four are the most powerful in their respective category
They have been dead, but they atleast had a reputation of luxury in people's minds. This rebrand is doing the company no favors and is making the public turn on them rather than respect them.
Dawg the only way to save them is to make a really action packed almost Hollywood style action movie with explosives and fighter jets with a brand new car that's actually good and say we pranked yall lmao
It's honestly a miracle that Aston Martin has made it through the modern era all fine and they're currently doing great with their latest cars. And Bentley is in safe hands with VAG, so they'll also stick around as usual. And McLaren is simply being carried by its racing heritage and also doing just fine. Lotus and Jaguar? They just couldn't pull through. The English car brands have really been going through rough times.
I do hope Jaguar comes back. The concept, while ugly (putting it mildly), is a start. If they make that something livable and have it as a world class GT EV, it might be a start. Make an impractical car first to say you’re back.
Jaguar during their prime really made a name for themselves, even held the fastest car in the world title for about 5 minutes before Bugatti claimed it with the EB110. It's very sad to see how far they've fallen.
@@dewoitine I'd say we just need to wait for the sales, but even then, people are not liking this rebrand or whatever because... It's just so Generic. There's no personality or character, it's just... boring. They threw away YEARS of Racing Heritage... for this. EVs are not bad, that's what I think. Hell, not even Hydrogen is bad, I'd say (look at Toyota); but it's in _how you present them_ that matters, especially in terms of marketing and design, and with Jaguar... No. Unfortunately, this is not the way.
I love the pearl clutching of the new direction. "Jaguar is dead to me!" or "Jaguar just lost all their customers!" Bit*h Jaguar has been dead for years now. Anything else is already better than what they have today.
I dunno, the stupid avant-garde fartsy commercial, if the new vehicle looks like that... I think it could look worse, looks like a 2024 imagining of a Duesenberg that a 1930s pimp would drive.
Yeah, it's a concept with a bit of refinement it could look alright. To me, it seems like they are targeting the wealthy Land Rover crowd and much of those complaining were never going ever buy a jaguar. If they refine the front and back of the car, it could be quite a seller. Hell, I can see rich jerkwads driving it around to anger the commoners.
the only british companies that i ever liked was aston martin and mclaren, jaguar was always kinda meh, if they wanted to be a good company they could stop being a luxury brand and make some lightweight cars
Yeah the issue is people weren't buying Jags. Even the Jag factory was full of range rovers and German cars. All the people shouting the loudest about this weren't buying Jags, they HAVE to change. Roll the dice lads, hope it works. Sure, we're all talking about them, seems to be working so far.
can I clarify a point. tata motors bought the land rover operations from fords PAG experiment [lol] which, like Volvo was a profit making and somewhat compelling brand, but it was conditional on taking the jaguar brand n loss making operations as part of the meal deal
It wasn't the fact that they made an SUV - as per your examples it seems these "trucks," as the younger kids call em, has proven otherwise profitable - the problem is THEY decided to make an SUV. The quality isn't there, electronics are buggy, cost of maintenance, and ride height are amongst some of the quips people often disagree with when it comes to this SUV. I don't know man, I'd become the CEO for free - just to save a piece of history and not let it die due to DEI hires
I had a 1975 Daimler Double Six Vanden Plas Automatic for a big old lump of metal it could get up and go. Just a shame that Jag just went off the road, with the hazard lights blinking.
Okay, hear me out... This whole rebrand thing is clearly a ginormous prank, part of a well planned marketing stunt, where in the end they'll drop a "JUST KIDDING, LOL" and gift humanity with the most brilliant and exciting product line a car company has ever put together... Right?
They're almost pretty much dead so that's a last ditch effort to not die. That is quite some times I didn't see any on the roads in my country and they used to sell somewhat but we used to see them regularly on the roads. During the last 2 years they sold barely 2000 cars yearly in an almost 2 million yearly new car market. Worldwide they sold 64 000 cars, that is not enough for a car manufacturer of this size to survive.
I wonder if budlight, Disney, jaguar do this stuff purposely, like a long term game if they plan to short their own stock, or want to buy their own stock for cheap? Idk, doesn’t really make any sense. But I don’t believe they’re this out of touch
If I'll be honest lets just see what the final production version will be. See how it does and then come to a conclution. I dont mind a jag sport ev but maybe make it rounder?
Honestly, this ultimately boils down to being a problem with the massive forced migration to EVs. EVs are much harder to add personality to because yes, they have less moving parts which is good for maintenance, but it’s no good for creating a competitive product. This is honestly what I see happening to most manufacturers unless either A: Porsche has their way and makes atmospheric petroleum harvesting the standard or B: we finally admit that it should’ve been hydrogen and not EVs
Ever since the xj ended, Jaguar was destined for obscurity. But every living thing will gasp for the next breath, and I won't blame them for trying. It's just that there's no place in this age for a car brand like what Jaguar was. I can name a lot more than just them, so can you. Who's in for an EV Mini the size of a Mammouth? Nobody cares for old brands claiming style and exclusivity when any Chinese brand gives you touchscreen connectivity. You might as well take the train. The era for upmarket cars is gone. You can't blame a body for trying though. You'd gasp for your last breath, so do they. And that's why I want racing games to feature old cars as much as possible. Not just the greats, all of them. As a homage, to give us our last chance to experience them. Give us the R5 TL, the Marina 1.8 TC, the Peut 504 TI!
That concept is so bland that it could be just any other manufacturers concept. Slap a different grill and logo on it and you get new concept for different manufacturer.
I think Jaguar is one of the few car companies I just don’t care about. Not that it isn’t important in the long run when it comes to racing history and car design like with the E-Type. Aside from the XJR-15 or the XJ220, I can’t remember the last time I’ve even thought about Jaguar. I even felt that a lot of the cars they made in the early 2000s were a tad overrated, but Jaguar as a brand has never been my particular taste for cars at all anyway. I remember the attention they received when the strange I-Pace came out, and now the recent strange ad and concept car. A lot of people, even in these comments and other recent videos on this topic, reference the same supercars/race cars but relatively nothing from the past 25-30 years. Edit: I want to make it clear, based off of some of the other comments, I actually like some electric/hybrid cars; just specifically the I-Pace is such a weird car…crossover thing.
Tata should launch new model with the model name of "The Colonizer". This name would fit perfect in UK as the pace at which India is just colonizing the UK right now 😜😆😆🤣. They have effectively reversed the roles of the East India Company.
imma be real only notable car they made was that gnx. And some nascar stuff. but other than that they always been known as a brand older people buy and even now older people dont buy them anymore. There main customer base is gone. no one is interested in there vehicles. so why should they try to appeal to you guys? or even a car mechanic like me? have you realized their not advertising for you, its for the tilda swilton looka likes.
The other point that's worth mentioning is that Jaguar is part of Land Rover; hence the name JLR. And if you look at Land Rover, most of their product are fantastic and they make a ton of profit. Jaguar should have capitalized on that and make a truely special cars. Sports cars or luxury cars with a higher price point and aspiration that did not have to sell in big volume. Land Rover will take care of that; selling Range Rovers to every rich soccer moms. But instead, Jaguar went after Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi and fixated on volume sales and cost-cutting; especially when they made an F-Pace SUV that was not competitive enogh and Land Rover ended-up making a more appealing version of that car with the Range Rover Velar. Sadly this is a mistake that so many luxury brands made; Cadillac and Maserati are another good example. Anyway, I'm going to stop now, because I can write a two-million word essay about branding fuck-ups like this.
FYI, none of these auto makers have made an SUV, they have made crossovers. Don't insult things like the Land Cruiser, Patrol, G wagen, etc by placing them in the same category as a F Pace, Macan, Santa Fe and Nissan Rogue.
The car as a meaningful obejct is dead for good, but for the rich folks that are already paying zillions for GPT designed trash in a last pathetic attempt to differentiate themselves from us peasants. It’s what it is. At least we enjoyed the ride.
I Love the new Jaguar, the 00 is a beautiful car in my opinion I wasn’t overly a big fan of Jaguar before. Jaguar was neither here nor there before. It wasn’t my least favourite auto maker, but it wasn’t my favourite by far. It wouldn’t even make my top 10 but now it would make my top 10 at least or better.
Come back?? May be, but not like this😂😂😂 one notable thing is that the new videos ahows that the type 00 is a non production vehicle, which gives some hope.
I feel like Jaguar wasn't planning on Trump winning... frankly it looks like they wanted to capitalize on the LGBTQ movement just for the US to do a full 180 on the issue. I think it's bland and amatuer in it's design language. It's like the surface level pandering that Hollywood does when race swap a character or sprinkle in LGBTQ pandering. No substance, just a facade. And i don't have anything against LGBTQ folks, it's just that we can all see when it's a bunch of bullshit and when it's real.
As pointed out in the video, Jaguar started going downhill when the company was sold to India. The Indians probably have very little experience marketing to the global market, and they outsourced their marketing to an agency which turned out to be WOKE DEI.
