    Breath of the Wild's four champions were fundamental to the entire game's existence; and because Link can free their spirits by defeating the Blight Ganons that were plaguing their Divine Beasts, we are able to give their dead souls peace at the end of the game. But could it be that something rather malicious was keeping them here in our realm? Join me to find out!

    I think that the blights had no elemental power to begin with, but after defeating the champions the malice absorbed their dead bodies and honed and concentrated their powers and twisted them to their own dark purposes. I wasn’t very interested in what happened with their bodies until I recall the SOS messages in each divine beast’s soundtracks I listened recently. I think basic forms of the blights with a copy of their abilities fought the champions, the champions were defeated and the blights got inside them before the last heartbeat to absorb their full powers. It’s pretty dark to imagine the details of how the champions’ bodies ended after the fight but from my point of view the malice parts completing the missing armor parts show us the image. For example, Waterblight Ganon’s legs are severed, it’s torso is ripped from one side, has a little thing of a head and the right arm and other parts are made of pure malice giving me the impression of how damaged Mipha’s body was.

    I think that the blight ganons were sent to each divine beast as a way of “teasing” in a sense. Gannon most likely wanted to have them fight a better version of themselves, and likely did this because he knew the champions would be in their divine beasts. For example, Waterblight Gannon and Mipha both possess spears, but Waterblight Ganon’s has a much longer reach and can be regrown, unlike Mipha. All of them were essentially better versions of each champion that were sent to defeat each one of them.

      This is actually an awesome theory assuming that malice can- halt aging/ decomposition (in the event of corpses) and/or keep the champions in a form of half-life for the entirety of the 100 yr gap. (The anti aging/ decomposition is because rito and gorons i believe can't live to be 100+ like the zora can) or if so it would be a rare occasion (because neither elder / chief recognize link calling him "champion descendant".)

Waterblight has better range than Mipha. Fireblight was stronger than Daruk. Windblight has excellent anti air abilities to use against Ravali. Thunderblight could outspeed Urbosa.

    Thunderblight: Iron Knuckle
    Water Blight: Gyorg, Octoroc or classic Zora. The fish monsters from a link to the past.

    I know I'm quite late, but, one major flaw with your, 'Ganon possessed the champions' theory is that, Calamity Ganon can freely control anything he throws his malice at, meaning he easily could have taken over the divine beasts, by just possessing the terminals with malice.

  • @ParadoxProblems
    @ParadoxProblems 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    By far the best piece of evidence for this i think you missed was Naydra, the dragon of wisdom, being corrupted and controlled by malice. We know malice is capable of taking over extremely powerful entities which begs the question: If Ganon didn't corrupt the champions themselves, why not?

    Bro, first time I SEE this and it makes so much sense, as we know from the game description on the skulls that come out from the Malice inside the beasts, Malice reanimates corpses and absorbs properties from them, as read from the Lizard and the other 2 skulls, innate anger or traits from them are still represented after being reanimated. It's a theory that works with the Powers of the champions and their traits, mind blown

  • @ricekrispies1917
    @ricekrispies1917 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Man, I wish Nintendo had made this hella dark and had the Blights be the remains and stolen powers of the Champions, keeping them anchored and enslaved to this world. That would of been really tragic and very, very dark.
    However this theory isnantly falls apart when you consider that each champion states that they had already fought and been defeated by this exact enemy, and are constantly warning Link of it's abilities in-fight as if from experience, further proving that they and the Blights are their own seperete entity.
    And the idea that the Blights have the same powers as the Champions is misleading because it's actually the _other_ way around. They are actually possessed portrayals of the Divine Beasts' and their powers. And it makes sense because Ganon hasn't been possessing people in this game. He's been corrupting technology and overriding their systems.
    But I think that the idea that he created monsters who have similarities to the Champions' weapon of choice and some of their abilities that align with their Beasts' abilities (Waterblight and Mipha don't share water attacks or healing abilities tho. Well, if you don't count AoC anyway) was supposed to be a slap in the face to the Champions. Like, it's so brutal and cheeky on Gannon's part, 'cause he basically "replaced" them as his versions of the pilots of the divine beasts, in both the copycat and literal sense. It was Ganon's way to further shame and dishoner his hated enemies, and to relish their disposal.
    Cool theory tho. Despite the holes I do think it would of made for a much cooler and awfully sinister and tragic game if they had gone somewhere along that route.

  • @Kate-pik

    This is one of your best theories! It's so sad but it must be true.

    I had my own theory on how the champions died to the blight ganons
    Calamity Gannon knew how skilled they were in combat
    He had to make four blights that mimicked their movesets and did so in a more strong way
    This could explain why each blight weapon are similar with the weapons,
    Also maybe the blights were SO Strong back then because calamity ganon had full control over the divine beasts
    Since that calamity ganon was sealed, he couldn’t use the divine beasts, so they stood there, had nothing to do, but when calamity ganon regained some of his power, he could control them, but the blights were weaker,
    This could explain why the blights were so easy
