I like to think that this well researched and thought-out video was in reality just an excuse to put as many cursed units as possible on the bottom part of the video.

She became unstoppable.
Azura has a higher strength growth than Ike. Her being a crazy good berserker makes sense. Hell it probably helps her low hp growth too.
For those of you who still play Fire Emblem Fates on original hardware and are worried about obtaining my castle resources after the servers shut down, you can work around this by modding your system. Using checkpoint you can install cheats, some of which include setting every type of food and gem to 99 or setting your dragon vein points to 99. Or you can use checkpoint to export your save file to your computer, use a save data editor to manually adjust your my castle resources and then import the edited save file.
Right now I started a new safe file and immediately after chapter 6 visited lots of castles to collect units and classes not available in my route. Like Hana, Sakura and Oboro on my Conquest safe file.
Then I can play conquest with hoshido units, even after the end of online features.
Where can I find those cheats and mods, I really like the sprite mod. I have a modded new nintendo 3ds and i dont really know how to install cheats using checkpoint

As a post shutdown fates player I can say that it plays basically fine. Although I never really used the online features at all even before. Arena rigging really helps get more weapon resources.

Yeah I don’t quite understand what this is about, like sure it helps a fair bit if you have access to unrestricted forging (at least in terms of gems) but the game is also fine when you play it with limited access to these resources.
@@lightbrand_Well, the main point is that access to forges pretty much defines bronze weapons as the best weapons, whereas in a no-online run you might find yourself buying a silver weapon or two if you can’t forge it.

The best part of hacking in the resources is to cut out the need for interacting with the arena. It's function is a time gate, all that time saving, resetting, adjusting the internal clock is better spent just playing the game.
You started the list off with my number 1 FAVORITE weapon in the game. I considered it Hinoka’s PRF at one point. It just looks cool. I considered Fates to be a step ahead of Awakening and seeing weapons with such design-effectiveness aspects so appearent such as guard lance, helped me feel we really were heading towards fluid gameplay.
I know character/joke weapons aren't reliable to obtain but id like to mention subakis pike that doubles might with higher skill. Early its useful since your units have higher stats. Felicias plate is a magic weapon that doesn't have the no crit penalty and less avoid i think. Peris lance a javelin that can crit and be obtained no matter what route. Kaze and Saizos needle and star have a rally effect after combat on player phase. If you have units within two tiles and a dagger unit uses one of them they get +4 str with Saizos star and +4 speed with kazes needle.

Kaze's Needle ALSO gives the Silver Shuriken debuff (Speed -4) without the penalty too.

I probably would’ve put calamity gate at the top personally, but I also don’t normally use forged bronze weapons so what do I know.
Fates weapon discussions are kind of funny to me, because they’re often brought up to make a big rant on terrible weapon balance but almost no one bothers to comment on this problem in other FEs, even though some are just as bad if not worse. Heck, one of the major differences between low level and high level Fire Emblem play is the realization that weapon durability doesn’t limit you as much as you would think it would.
That said, I think the biggest problem with Fates’ approach towards no durability (or at least what annoys players the most) is that there isn’t as much of a feeling of progression in the weapon system. In a given FE you’ll normally start using better and more expensive weapons with greater frequency because you can afford to, but the drawbacks on B rank Fates weapons in particular make them so niche that they often aren’t worth the cost, which is made worse by the overly generous forging system.
Even when you get to A and S rank weapons, which can actually be worth using despite their drawbacks, they’re still pretty niche thanks to weapon ranks growing so slowly. To reasonably get a single unit to S rank, you’ll probably need two arms scrolls which is potentially 10,000 gold just to use a weapon they may not even use that often (especially if it’s the Chakram).
There’s a lot to unpack, but if there was ever an attempt to rebalance the weapons in a Fates patch or something, I would try one or two of the following:
1: increase weapon rank EXP gain so that naturally reaching A rank is about as much work as you would need to get to B rank (maybe even less)
2. Removal or rebalancing of the forge system so that making strong bronze and iron weapons is either impossible or expensive.
3. Reducing the cost of silver weapons to make them more cost effective.
Seeing people still make FE fates content always is a joy to see. There is so much heart put into the video, its a joy to watch.
while i (for the most part) agree with this list, i think it’s kind of a massive oversight to not mention the pike-ruin club, swordcatcher and axe splitter. they at least deserve a comment in the effective weapon section imo
My problem with those weapons is that they have the good might of the other effective weapons but don’t have the great accuracy, and unlike the dual weapons who also have shaky accuracy, they don’t augment their own accuracy by doubling WTA or something. That, and usually weapon triangle advantage gives you a great chance at one rounding to begin with and they’re a bit expensive and you don’t get them as drops often.

I loved this video. Well scripted and the editing was awesome! I don’t mind conquests weapon balance personally, I feel like I use enough varied weapons to solve different problems for it to feel fun even if centralized.
Doesn't Ike's weapon also have the ability to use skills and 1-2 range? Guess we aren't talking about dlc and amiboo weapons but it's good to mention since if you have the amiboo you can have some very unique classes and extra units that give shop items

Your off comment about the my castle pre shutdown says a lot. Since I have the system still set up I can use it, and having access to the resources from visits and battles (as well as the support grinding granted by invasions of other players castles). It's so good that it makes me consider finally doing a Lunatic run of conquest, even though I'm not that great at the long term planning aspect
Post online fates players here getting resources is not hard but its definitely much harder
The soldier dagger is my favorite brave weapon because duel striking w/ your replica actually negates the halved str penalty. I used this strat with Lazlow and it was average, but Jakob or Kaze would probably wreck house with it

+5 speed at the cost of -1 def & res, but when wielded by Hana, and paired up with Jakob, she becomes an absolute dodge tank. You'll be seeing enemies have a 0 hit rate on her

I won't ever be able to switch talent or boon/bane but I pretty much always use the same combos anyway

I think Raijinto deserves to be a bit higher honestly. It is THE weapon in BR and the back half of Rev, and while I can see the argument of it being absent in CQ and tied to Ryoma's join time as being detrimental, I don't think there's a weapon that gets close to being as centralizing to the game as Raijinto.
Siegfried by comparison isn't nearly as useful. Enemies have much more specialized stats and skills, juggernauting is made a lot harder, flight becomes extremely valuable from chapter 19 to 24 and 2 range isn't useful in 19 and 21, swords face weapon triangle problems in 17 and 25 and Xander can't kill Takumi with it. What does Ryoma do in BR? He faces a bunch of low avo GKs, Maligs, Wyverns and a bunch of green weapons bow knights and berserkers. Flying is hardly ever needed and the literal only time it does is 21, where he can simply get rescue chained to the boss with a dance and a pairup to end the map. He also kills the hexed blight dragon just fine using it.
The other thing is he joins after chapter 13, at which point you will hardly have any paralogues yet or only few, and you just unlock your second heart seal meaning any other character that could potentially do the same things as Ryoma with a premium build will not be there yet. Even a turbo fed Corrin or Silas won't do what he does by chapter 14 and funny enough even though you say he will die, he actually lives pretty comfortably through the lance guys with a def pairup and if you fight the silver lance guy on PP.
The other thing I think elevates it is that even though many units can sweep the game, he just kind of does it without ever needing to reclass unless he wants to and just doesn't fall off. Saizo, Reina, Silas and Oboro will all face pretty bad str limits due to the low might of Shurikens and the magic tanks Hayato, Rhajat and Rinkah will have much worse hitrates compared to Ryoma with his 30+ skill. He'll look at endgame Generals and still be like "L +ratio +bushido +11 mt +100 hit +35 crit +vantage +astra" and win despite those enemy types being his most troublesome matchup. He can just walk into enemies and win from chapter 14 to 25 with basically no real issues as long as he's paired and the last 3 maps can just be skipped by sending him to kill the boss.
No other weapon is nearly as game defining for BR, because every other unit needs a pretty expensive build to replicate this and Siegfried straight up won't see the same amount of use or be as good in practice.
With all that being said, I realize this still means it won't beat bronze weapons due to the late availability and only really dominating one game while being "just amazing" in the other one it's in, but I do find it worth mentioning just how substantially stronger it is in BR than Siegfried is in CQ.
While I do agree that Raijinto is better, I just really didn’t want to sacrifice another spot on the list to have them separately and I think that they’re close enough in power to justify it

I’ve only played Fates like 3 times (1 for each route), and have been a bit interested in trying to get better at it recently.
This was a chill watch.
Since online is coming to an end soon, I’d like to point out that the Brave weapons are very useful in that mode. With units that have maxed out stats and optimized skills, stuff like Spendthrift will come up a lot, and Brave Weapons are excellent for that and triggering offensive skills. The Crescent Bow and Soldier’s Knife will half your Strength, but you usually only need one pick, and with Warp you can easily benefit from Attack Stance damage as well. All effective weapons are also significantly buffed with Museum Melee grinding, since the Might bonus from forging gets multiplied by the effective damage.

never used Rinkah with Horse Spirit, my strat in BR was Dark Knight Corrin with Honse Spirit, and boy, with that unit, i sent half my army one side, Corrin with Felicia on the other, and no one could do anything against him.

Honestly my only problems with fates' weapon balancing are the silver and legendary weapons. Get to B rank, and you get a weapon that damages your stats on every use for a minor damage increase on the first strike. Get to S rank, which is class specific and a lot of units won't reach? You get an 18 might 1 range weapon that halves your strength after use. No thanks.
The S ranks are pretty underpowered at times (Pursuer is unironically cracked but the others are a bit mid) but Silvers can be surprisingly useful at times. I’ve found myself buying a silver dagger on console for Kaze so he can orko some tougher enemies with it, because it does have a massive massive might advantage over his normal weaponry

The thing with bronze weapons is that nintendo probably didn't intend for you to grind/hack max resources, since bronze forges obviously require a lot of these and if you don't use cheat codes or do a lot of grinding you won't get enough of them to justify using them to forge a bronze weapon
Well, pre shutdown it still only takes like 4 ore for a +2 weapon; when I did a console run a while back I visited a few castles and got it done quite easily

Marry Odin to someone and then access the Ophelia paralogue. One of the villages in the paralogue will give you the horse spirit as a reward

Great list. If you include bronze weapon, I think any 1-2 range like hand axe / javelin / kodachi must be on the list. You can play conquest, but without these, it will be terrible :(. I think bronze weapon / effective weapon / range weapon (hand axe / javelin / kodachi) / dual weapon is top of my list.
Iron is definitely better then bronze, but I’ve also never played with easy access to forging, although the inability to crit and make follow up attacks is definitely standing against them a lot more than you say

Certain blow mentioned for bolt axe, but not lucky seven? It's strength is enemy phase sweeping, if you have a strong bolt axe build online then 7 turns will destroy most of the map.
Also I swear if bronze weapons didn't exist, people would treat fates like the second coming of binding blade.
To your second point, it’s actually not possible. There’s so much hit fixing capability in fates that even without reliable steel tier weapons you’d be able to survive just fine.
Fates weapons don't have two whole weapon types that bottom out at 50-55 Hit at Steel rank so I really don't think these games would be that infamous for hit rates.
If bronze weapons didn't exist it'd be suffering lol. Muh Hit and Ddg and crit disable.
It is surprisingly easy to hack your 3DS, and with that, lacking online features mean very little.

The thing about weapons in this game, is that the downsides of higher rank weapons are waaay too steep. F for Silver, Brave and S rank weapons
Braves are literally good. Silver str debuff isn’t actually as bad as the absurd -5 crit avoid penalty but many of the s rank weapons do suck

Out of interest, where does all the discussion on games like Fates actually take place? Is it on Serenes Forest? The FE Subreddit? Comment sections? Twitch Streams? Or Discord servers. I feel kind of out of the loop at times, and seeing more videos about Fates the past year or so makes me realise that developments surrounding it occured entirely outside of where I could really find it as it was happening. Everyone arrived at these consensuses, yet I never worked out why or how. Feels like something happened somewhere I missed. Would love to find out more.

@@MugenCannon97 Before I say this I 100% agree that it would be great to have a more centralized hub for Fates discussions, but it's so much better nowadays than it was back in 2019 or so. Back in the day, in a general FE discord you would struggle heavily to find more than one person that legitimately enjoyed and understood Fates enough to help you or discuss it with you, and we've come a long long way since then.

I wouldn't say Ophelia doesn't have good speed. Her base of 7 (before class bases are factored in) is one of the highest of all the kids and her base growth of 45% is also quite fast, and it bumps up to 50% if you give her Elise as a mom which, let's be real, you probably are. Personally I've never had problems getting her to double even without the horse spirit.
That’s after levels. Before levelups (especially before promotion) it’s a huge struggle

I literally have never used the My Castle Multi-player in any real capacity to play these games. I just think the function is stupid. So I just play the game with its own internal mechanics and it's honestly fine that way. I don't think the weapons are going to be any different, regardless of that fact.
The weapon system is a one reason i utterly hate fates. I desperately wanted to be rid of thoughs uglly ass bronze wrapons I utterly despised, only to slowly realize that every other weapon was actually worse then them in most scenarios.

Post shutdown Fates will be nightmarish, the online castle stuff is a pretty important piece of the game. Not everyone has the luxury, knowledge, or resources to properly mod a 3ds, so I don't want to consider that. Nintendo doesn't want people modding their consoles yet with the shutdown, games like Fates get crippled from its disappearance
I was expecting Horse Spirit to be number 1, but I can't really disagree.
One major design flaw that hurts Steel, Silver, and just about every other high rank buyable weapon: the weapons have downsides built into them. Silvers have good stats, but hit you with a stat drop; Steel has poor accuracy and an attack speed penalty. In theory, they should be 'on-par' with brass and iron. But THE SHOP DOES NOT TREAT THEM THIS WAY, and prices them as if they are upgrades. In other words, you get a double penalty with the weapon: it costs a lot more despite not being clearly better than the mainstay options available. With how the forging system works, this means that brass weapons are virtually penalty-free, since their poor might can just be mitigated by how cheap they are to forge.
What would work better was if all weapons were similarly priced. Brass and Iron should both cost 1000 Gold. Steel and Silver shouldn't be much more than that, maybe 1500 and 2000 Gold. That would actually make it feel like different weapons were worthwhile in different occasions. Though forging probably needs to be retooled anyways.
Edit: I forgot to say, the presentation on the video is a big step up. It looks very professional without ever being distracting.

It is one of my favourites part of the game. I love sexy girls on my games, specially when I can marry them. Make a already good game even more pleasant to the eye
