No-deal Brexit: Destiny or disaster? | Head to Head

  • In this episode of Head to Head, Mehdi Hasan challenges businessman-turned-politician Richard Tice, the chair of the United Kingdom's Brexit Party, on his campaign for a "no deal" or "clean" exit from the European Union.
Editor's note: Since the recording of this show on September 30, 2019, Rachel Warby has been deselected and is no longer the prospective parliamentary candidate for the Brexit Party.
In addition to being elected as a member of the European Parliament (MEP) in May 2019, Tice cofounded the successful pro-Brexit campaign Leave.EU before the June 2016 referendum. He went on to fund the Leave Means Leave campaign immediately after the vote.
Tice dismisses official warnings about the impact of a "no-deal" Brexit on the UK's economy and believes that sovereignty is paramount, adding: "We get back our sovereignty from the European Union, back to Parliament, and back to the people. So that is, you know, that is something that is absolutely priceless, we must achieve that."
Hasan and Tice are joined by a panel of three experts:
    - Graham Gudgin - a pro-Brexit economist at Cambridge University and chief economic adviser at the conservative think-tank, Policy Exchange
    - Jonathan Lis - the deputy director for the pro-Europe think-tank, British Influence
    - Ash Sarkar - a senior editor at the progressive online media outlet, Novara Media
After the recording at the Oxford Union, Tice said: "The ultimate challenge is both to survive and enjoy an hour of intense Head to Head with Mehdi Hasan. It sharpens you up and keeps you on your toes. I loved it!" (October 1, 2019)
No-deal Brexit: Destiny or disaster? with Richard Tice first broadcast on October 11, 2019, at 20:00 GMT and repeat telecasts on October 12 at 12:00GMT, October 13 at 01:00 GMT, and October 14 at 06:00 GMT.

If that had have been me in that seat I don't know that I would have had the patience to sit there without retaliating. Mr Hasan seemed to enjoy trying to provoke his guest. A referendum can be easily hijacked and often is. Many vote against the advice of the government, not because of the subject of the referendum but to show they are not satisfied with the government at that time.
No government can stand such a test. Most people want everything without paying any taxes, and that's simply impossible.
Imagine three referenda at the same time:
'Are you for or against austerity?'
      and
      ''Should we leave the EU?'

Really? The German automotive industry has seen a big downturn, mostly because the Chinese market has slowed and they are unlikely to start bulk buying German cars. The automotive industry is a large part of the German economy and it will have knock on effects to other large sectors, notably chemical manufacturing and mechanical engineering. Then we have to look at the current problems with the financial services sector, Deutche Bank is still is trouble and the IMF has told them to dramatically speed up their restructuring, the bond market is looking really bad, the countries who owe Germany money are likely to default (that is partly down to the effect of having a single currency) and then we have the ruling against Airbus by the WTO. Trump is slapping huge tariffs on Germany's aerospace industry and he's doing it with the consent of the WTO, nearly 8 billion dollars! Merkel's push for renewable energy is also hurting the country as they have to sell excess power at a loss to France and then buy power from them when the renewals are not providing enough.

      The Independent.
Johnson, well known around the world as a despicable liar, lazy lowlife scumbag and fat scruffy spaffer in chief, is facing the prospect of a “cash for votes” inquiry into why his party used public money to “blackmail” its own MPs. During last week’s row over the long list of Paterson/Johnson sleaze enquiries, the Conservative Party whips office told backbenchers from the "Red Wall" their constituency areas would lose funding if they failed to vote with the government. Now the gimpish cabinet secretary Simon Case is to investigate the allegations - which everyone including all opposition parties, deaf and blind groups and inmates of Strangeways say amounts to yet another gross misuse of public funds and total disregard of parliamentary rules. The clown minister’s spokesarsehole confirmed the reports when questioned about them on Friday while showing complete contempt for Brexit voters, flag wavers and Red Wall constituents. In a letter to Mr Case, Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey said it has been proven that the government was “consistently threatening to withhold vital investment from communities across the UK, in an effort to blackmail backbenchers into voting in an unconscionable and immoral way. “It is unthinkable that local communities would be punished by having vital funding taken away, just because their deceitful Tory MPs attempt to defend the indefensible. Johnson, regarded widely as a waste of oxygen, said "the Red Wall voters kindly lent me their vote, it is now up to me how I best use it against them, after all, they all say they knew what they were voting for"

We cant use any of our contributions on our own priorities until we leave the eu. All people dont understand manifestos at General Elections we dont insist on a degree in politics to vote in an election. People understand they were lied to by Project fear and the same vested interests like top pro eu politicians and institutions and big business are lying to them now. They have increased the crime rate which is mainly affecting the poor immigrant shop keepers in the area as they steal stuff from the shops. They wont accept housing the council offer them as they prefer to beg where there is plenty of money to be made. On taking them to the Supreme Court Westminster council were told they cannot be removed as that would breach their EU Freedom of Movement Rules. Equally Theresa May took years to remove a blatant terrorist because of the same rules and eu human rights infringements. We have our own trade unions (who the eu have bought out in large part with our tax payers money) who fought for the rights we now have. The eu have long ago become a big bank and corporation political pressure group.
