The company promised and don’t deliver - to me this shows they care more about the company than the employee.

The company should have done what they agreed to, and there is NO excuse why.

pretty obvious Ken is a company man, and has no pity for the works, must really suck to work for his company.

So basically he told her: You’re a receptionist and you’re not important. SMH. I used to like this guy. It’s a damn dollar, not 10

Here's my thoughts: Unless it's in writing, it's not a promise in terms of the workplace. I've had employers say and promise things, and backflip. Get it in writing!

She is not on a ladder and you have no respect for a receptionist. She could be there for exact pay as promised and benefits and without that she has to leave. She's being punished for being honest and understanding. Salespeople do not always meet their Mark and they often lie about what they can do. She is perfectly right to be upset. What's more united dressing how much money these people are making in base pay or whatever. True sometimes there is a must hire from a client for the CEO's nephew but that does not negate the fact that if they can't afford a $1 raise somehow but they can afford to six figure salary increase in sales Force something is wrong. Also the proper receptionist can often bring in money

I'm in the same situation they rehired me at 20 to start again, promised 22 after 3 months, it's been a month after and nothing, my patience is running low

Look for another job! Don’t settle for less. They can literally afford to pay more they just don’t want to.

Both parties in the issue are playing games unnecessary games The caller worried about a dollar raise which really wont make any meaningful difference in her life. And the employer being shady from the start. Any time an employer says they are going to start you at X salary and give you a raise after 90 days or 6 months is lying to you almost every time.

This Ken guy reminds me of bosses I have had over the years. I am an assistant and what you would called a high performer, I always have been. But as an assistant I have realized over time that too many bosses don’t respect their assistants or anyone who does the clerical, administrative, receptionist, etc., work in the office for them.
Bosses feel those people are beneath them and their work is not as important as theirs. But it definitely is important work, bosses don’t realize it takes a very, VERY organized, great multitasking, efficient, and focused person to do that kind of work. It is time consuming and is hard, you are constantly juggling multiple things at once. And it has been my experience bosses take those kind of workers for granted. And it shows in their attitude towards their assistants, administrative, receptionists, clerical, office worker, etc. This Ken guy is displaying that same kind of attitude as those bosses. My advice to her, the caller, being up the raise again, the company made a promise and they should keep that promise. If they stall again. Stay one year at the job, so looks ok on a resume then find another job. The employer has shown they can’t be trusted, that they lie. What makes this Ken guy think the company will move her up their company’s corporate ladder when they can’t even keep their promise about a $1 raise?! His logic is very flawed. At her next job make sure they give the promised raise, etc. from the beginning. Let this be a learning experience.

Nope. Promises were made & the company didn’t deliver. While the overall package does need to be investigated to see if it’s still worthwhile I would be mistrustful of any promises they made to me. You do not keep employees by breaking promises

  • @CJ-wc6lf
    @CJ-wc6lf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

You have the right to ask. Hold them accountable to their promise, and no the virus is not an exceptional excuse to not being an ethical company. I think the reason why he is one sided in the higher up's favor is because he works close to Dave, who is known for being shady with employees.

  • @trwilli25

Ken usually gets it right, but he air-balled this one. The employer made a promise and should execute on their promise. End of discussion.

This is a bad take. The company and employee entered into a employment contract under specific pretenses, and then failed to meet those pretenses. That's it.

No wonder this video has over a thousand views and only 25 likes. This guy is full of BS. Anyone who doesn't tell a boss to pay what is promised will never get the respect they want and certainly will not get promoted.

When i applied they really needed new workers, especially for the cnc im working at, i had 2 years experience at another smaller company where i had my ups and downs but got rly close with directors and the owner and was about to get a fulltime contract, but the pay and opportunity for growth were low. So when i applied to the strongest company in area and got the interview they promised me a fulltime contract after 6m and gave me a bigger pay than the last job but not enough to keep up with inflation(800e), so they promised me that i am gonna get a raise to what we firstly agreed(900e) as soon as i fit in with their workflow or when my 6m contract ends. Bit before the end of 6m contract they called me in and told me that i am getting another 6m contract and no promised raise even tho i fit in and improved and learned a lot and was giving the best of me the whole time and that anyway it was impossible for me to get a fulltime(indefinite)contract before i worked a year there which i know is a lie because some of my colleagues before got it at the end of the 6m probation contract.
Btw. 2m before that HR director went to pension and a new boss was telling me about fulltime impossible, etc ...

That is not a legitimate excuse- you promise something you need to follow through- she promised to be at work on time and she can’t use corona as an excuse, so the employer should not be allowed to use that as an excuse either- everything is always the little people’s fault- guarantee you her employer has a sweet ass ride
