My manager denied my raise a couple of months ago, and now I’m at a new job making more than twice he was paying me. If you think you’re worth more, you are worth more.

Switching jobs is the best way to get a raise if you’re can’t get a raise even though you’re a top performer, that’s hard to do in his field

You have to monkey branch from job to job every 2-3 years. Young men, self -fund your retirement and trust an employer for nothing!!

@@tubalcain6874 it is true. If you aren’t getting promoted or significant pay increases you have to leave . I have been with my current employer for 5 years. But in that 5 years I have gotten 40% in salary increases. I am guaranteed 10% in February 2023. Sometimes you can find an employer that has proper policy in place for retention .but it’s rare

These jobs don’t care about you. I signed a contract with a raise worked into it, and when I came to collect, it was denied. Either decide if the terrible pay is worth it, and make the best of it, or brush up your resume.

You’ve only been there a short time. You ask for a raise and was denied because of management. Time to move on.

OMG. This just happened to me. I received a bonus in October and was told by my manager that I was scheduled for a raise which her manager has rejected. I have more experience than my peers in my group. Gee thanks for the Christmas surprise. I use to like working at this company.

One of the reasons why government is a disaster? This man was given a gift to know the salaries of his peers if he’s a high performer. He’s more fortunate than most. Why should that be private info? So that companies can do what they were doing to him, exploit him?

"We can't get to what to do until we really assess where we stand" is something I think I'll be telling myself a lot from now on.
Also, the caller sounded kind of nervous/ anxious to be calling in. Good on him for doing it

Great lol. I've put in nearly 8 years of my life to my job and I still make minimum wage. I can't quit either I have to transition into the other job so my bills are paid considering I've lived in my own place for around 5 years now. I want to own a business because of all I've let myself deal with.

Been at my job for 8 yrs and changed departments; more responsibilities, and a little more money. A few months later my annual review earned me an increase for prior year performance. I was denied this increase since I received increase with new department/ promotion. I learned My Coworker in same role with 25 yrs tenure was initially denied the annual performance increase then was given it. I’m having a conversation about this with my boss tomorrow. We’re similarly situated, but I was denied the annual increase. :(

Whenever an employee asks for a raise, their boss should either give it to them, or fire them on the spot because I can guarantee you that if the employee does not get the raise, they have already quit in their minds.
