    When you're undervalued or respect is no longer served. You move on. I asked for a raise twice, they said it wasnt in the budget, which i knew was not true. Gave myself a promotion and huge raise by leaving recently. Thank God. Pray and know your worth.

      Good for you. I am still creating my raise or my goal salary. Because I still think that it should be me that should be the judge of that. It's going to take a while. But I am on the right path. Since I don't have a plan b. Well not yet. I just don't want to change my job right now. I am reading books about jobs to figure out what should be my dream job. I think that I am kind of lost right now. So I need to figure it out.

      @@vaishnavtej1819I think that it's lame that the company that you did work for. Didn't give you a raise. I don't think that you need luck. There are plenty of jobs everywhere. I would say that it's impossible for you to not find a new job within a week. It's impossible. Just cool off, breathe, take it easy. Everything will work out just fine. Just take time to decide what you want to do and what would your dream job should be. You can have something better. I am sure about that.

    I enjoyed my last job but sometimes you learn that companies only budget for what the job is worth, not who's in the position and what they're worth. So sometimes you got to either endure or move on

    In my experience, if you want more money and money matters to you, and the place you work has refused to pay you what you think you are worth, move. Workers need to be just as capitalist as the employers to get the best value. I have got my biggest pay rises through moving, never through staying put. Loyalty died a long time ago.

      Start interviewing and get another offer, if you want to stay then show them the offer and ask if they can match it - if you have a feeling that they won’t match it, accept the new offer and be prepared to resign the next day.

    next month will be 1 year working at my current job. couldn’t be more grateful. without asking i was given 2 raises already. i plan on staying at this job for awhile even tho it’s not exactly the environment i like. it’s a stepping stone for office work but in logistics. luckily i don’t have to do heavy manual labor. i sit behind a computer in my own office.

    I'm facing this currently. We haven't even heard anything about the remuneration. I don't hate my job, but its not what I should be making, especially in terms of getting by, and being able to pay the bills.

  • @Simon-je7ko
    @Simon-je7ko 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I did this for four years. One day I did receive a paper with the amount of my raise. I was so tired that I didn't understand what was going on. I was working six days a week. Also I had another job during the weekend. I did quit the week job. Because I was offered the weekend job during the week. Best decision I have ever made. No more nonsense. Just fun and joy. The pay is not yet what I want. So I invest a lot. It's okay to want more. If you talk and there is no answer. Well you are talking to a wall. You better leave. You do not have to say things all the time. If the company want you to stay. Well they will do their homework.

    I’m in my late 20’s. If I listened to the advice to increase the salary over the ‘opportunity’ without pay increases. I would have a much better standard of living. Money pays the bills end of story. ‘Opportunity’ for marginal increase in pay is NOT worth it.

    Excellent advice, Ken!
    I am in a similar situation and will start looking elsewhere in a few weeks. After almost two years contracting for a company and interviewing for two positions, one of which wasn’t the right fit, I am waiting in next steps for another opportunity. If it doesn’t move forward by December, I will look elsewhere for full time employment. I’m getting tired of contracting, although I am beyond grateful this job has carried me through the pandemic. I want more. And if this company is not willing to bring me on full time, another company will. Companies who dangle carrots on sticks for contractors should be ashamed. Just be honest about whether we have a place at your company after we have worked hard for you!

      @@manavsaxena5579 From a money standpoint and stress level it isn't, but it limits your skills & doesn't look favorable in the eyes of employers to remain in the same role for years. However, I did get another position with the company as a contractor ( on one of our teams) and that has opened up employment opportunities. I quit the job to do TH-cam full time but was offered a contract job with 6 figures. Check this out, the company reached out to me. So that 12 years of misery job with no promotions seem to have benefited me in an unexpected way.

    Don't agree with the advice to try for a counter offer from the current employer. The employer already had their chance to make things right with the employee when he initially discussed money and how much below the average it is. All they needed to do was find the average themselves and offer him that. Now Tim can go off and find an offer that is potentially higher than the average and expect them to match that.
    Even if they do match it, counter offers almost always represent a breakdown of trust, and it's coming from the threat of leaving, not from a natural reward for being a high performer (where it should have come from already). Future raises will be equally difficult, and it also gives the company time to start "restructuring" (i.e. looking for, and training in a replacement for a lower salary).
    The fact is, if the company didn't address the salary issue when it was brought up, then they are either 1. Greedy, 2. Naiive or 3. Too poor. All of those reasons mean it's time to leave.
