      That’s still a lot. Maybe it’s worth it to those who want it. But I wouldn’t pay it because FSD doesn’t excite me. Adaptive cruise control with lane keeping is more than sufficient for me.

      FSD is a scam. I don't see how Tesla gets away with calling it "Full Self-Driving," when it in fact does not actually offer full self-driving (unlike what the fanboys claim).

    IMHO the #1 benefit of owning a tesla is that unlike ANY other vehicle, because of consistent, reliable updates, it actually performs better as time passes. for example, owners of older tesla models claim that their cameras improved after updates. you will never hear of such cases on other EVs, assuming they would even be able to do updates.

    • @dmandman9
      @dmandman9 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Other EV’s as well as many conventional vehicles are capable of over the air updates . For example, both the F150 and F150 Lightning are capable of OTA updates.

      @@dmandman9 true, some of them do. but one of my biggest gripes is for the price you pay for THEIR EVs which is often even MORE expensive than tesla's (PLUS dealership markups) you get screens that look like they were made in the 90s. and even if they do look amazing like the Lucid Air, IT LAGS after a while.

    • @dmandman9

      @@strangefire2024 Truth be told, some people want a car that doesn’t remind them that they’re in an EV. They LOVE their current vehicles. They don’t really want something that different from what they’re driving already. If you made their favorite vehicle in an EV, with a similar price, they’d be happy. They don’t mind their current touchscreen or instrument cluster. If the lag was gone, they’d be satisfied.

      @@dmandman9 i do not begrudge people for loving their ICE vehicles. every person has their own taste. but looking for an EV version at the same price is a fantasy. not only are the EVs from legacy auto much more expensive than their gas guzzling counterparts, they LOSE MONEY for every EV they sell. the only EV manufacturers who actually earn from selling EVs are Tesla and BYD.

      @@dmandman9 in certain situations, Teslas are even cheaper than their ICE counterparts and the difference will get even more apparent in a few months IMHO. that's because unlike legacy auto which are like dinosaurs when it comes to making changes, Tesla is making drastic improvements in their manufacturing significantly lowering costs of production.

    Manual air vents are over rated... those that prefer manual air vents either 100% agree on where air should flow with their partner, don't have a partner, or love adjusting vents every time they get in the car after the other person drove... automatically adjustable airvents are one of the most amazing features of the tesla in my opinion. Yes, the *STARTING* price of the ID.4 is less, but once you equip it similarly to a base Model Y, the prices are much closer. Base ID.4 is single motor, with low range, etc. Also, you mention Tesla changing prices often. Dealers do that too, it to mention, dealers who mark up over MSRP and add unwanted “upgrades”.

    • @adisurd
      @adisurd 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I did this in the configurator of VW website in Netherlands. The base car includes no driving assistance, no safety features, theft protection features or even a reversing camera. All have to be bought as options.
      Once we do that, we get a motor that’s is half as powerful, a car much smaller and then the range and horrible software issues. And the cost is more than what I can pay for the Model Y long range. Shit.

    The reason to prefer the ID4 boils down to a dealership within a few miles of my home and a network of dealers with service departments across the country along with the excellent build quality of the car that you expect from a maker as storied and experienced as VW. For the Tesla it's all about the technology. Head and shoulders better than the VW for sure, on that score, yet you do have to accept inferior build quality and Tesla really doesn't have a dealer network worth talking about. Most owners will live farther away from a service department than anyone would ever call comforting or reasonable to access.
