    It's important to note the three new components of the selection.
    1. Subject has an orange masking effect
    2. Background is blue
    3. Transition area is transparent.
    The transition area is the zone that is between the subject and the background, and this is where the confusion usually arises.
    We just need to help Luminar Neo Portrait Background Removal engine define the parts of the portrait a bit better.
    Luminar Neo update 1.1 introduced this new portrait background removal and everyone's just learning how to best use it since. I hope this tutorial helps.

    Darlene, you've hit this one out of the park again (sorry, I'm late to the game on your Channel!) What you've shown on refining edge detection was golden. I additionally never utilized vignette 'feathering' as you did in that way but it proves to be better the way you teach it especially when you vignetted the male specifically on the lower shirt to match the shade grading, but now that I'm schooled.... Absolutely remarkable, straight to the point teaching. You're doing an excellent job; many thanks.

    Hi, love your glasses. I have a question. I installed luminaire neo after working with it for a while I decided to move all my photo files to an external hard, thinking luminaire neo would recognize the move of files. Luninar Neo did not recognize the files. There is a triangle in every picture. Can you give me advise on what to do?

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes you moved them outside Luminar and you need to relink all the folders, they are broken links. Luminar can't possibly know where you put them, especially on a new drive that Luminar doesn't even know exists.
      Do you have one master "Photos" folder? Or are they all separate and in many different folders?
      You'll need to right-click on an image and choose "locate" then find it on the external drive and relink it. Hopefully it will then recognize all the others on that drive too. But if it doesn't - you'll need to contact Skylum support to help you fix it.

    I loved Luminar 4. I thought it was going to be my photo editor. But AI and Neo were terrible. I then turned On1 during this time. I think it is a better solution for me, even complete Neo layers are not a good implementation for me. But now Neo is complete I find that it is best suited as a plug in for On1. Neo does portrait better. I like the auto masking and some of the ai features are better than On1. That being said paid upgrades of On1 and Neo are less expensive than Adobe monthly payment per year and it is easier. I still have some Topaz stuff I also use on occasion as a plug in to On1. It is a great setup.

    Hi res pic's will give a better result than a low, (pixel count n blurring). Also If you go to layer properties and select ai instead you can select objects with background removed, just refine with the mask brush n select property and export as png to use else where

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what you mean.

    • @wizardwafflewonders
      @wizardwafflewonders ปีที่แล้ว

      On layer properties, all the masking tools will remove baackground, but portrait only works on figures, When you use the other masks you must save as png before u adjust any thing. You just use paint or erase to cut out the object you want ai speeds it up in some cases. yo then use your png file as an overlay else where blending etc. Saw a video early showing the beta version doing the same... I lke to play n push the tools

    Thanks for the video - this tool is the one I find most challenging to comprehend. When you removed the background, how come the "object/the man" isn't completely orange? Why doesn't it fill him in completely? Obviously it has identified him as the object except for those little areas you fixed but visually I "don't get it" since he's not solid orange:) - that leads me to believe the entire man wasn't selected.

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure which image you're referring to in this one. The orange and blue just help you define the subject and background the area between is transparent that's the transition zone. So you won't see the orange matching the subject perfectly. It doesn't represent the actual mask. Does that help?

    • @hollylinton5314
      @hollylinton5314 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DigitalPhotoMentor So at the 2 minute 38 second mark for example, the man isn't completely orange so that visual confuses me but I guess since the rest of his shirt is in view, that would mean the Background Removal got all of it? I would expect his entire body to be orange so as to confirm he is the object?

    • @DigitalPhotoMentor
      @DigitalPhotoMentor  ปีที่แล้ว
