    Another excellent walkthrough. NEO is becoming a powerful tool. I was intrigued by the way you did this as I have seen another way to do what you did without having to save and re-import. Just add a background and then import that and raise opacity to 100% then just move the foreground person to the top of the two layers ahowing on the left. Good to have two ways of doing this I suppose!!!

    That is so very helpful - there are so many hidden gems in Neo that need this type of quick but careful explanation. Many thanks for providing these.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial Anthony. I am new to Luminar Neo and just updated to V1.10 but did not know how to remove the background . You did it again.

    I work around the “stamp” issue by exporting the image, then editing the jpeg of the output. Works, give or take a bit.

    I'm in the 30 day trial period with Neo, not sold on it yet. I guess I'm just used to Affinity Photo which IMO is a more complete and flexible editing program.

    Even though there is no stamped layer, you could export the photo and then reopen it as one photo, correct? By the way, great video.

  • @JEDINITE30
    @JEDINITE30 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice update. You don't have to export into a new document btw, that is just too much unnecessary work. You can just add a new background in a new layer.

  • @EllieUltra

    Can it harmonize layers by matching a color profile of one image to another?

  • @Old00Farth
    @Old00Farth ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hmmm, apparently Luminar Neo also needs the ability to blur the background so it looks more natural - or did I overlook that feature?

    Luv your tutorials! I found that when zooming into the image while using the background removal tool, I am unable to pan around. Bug? Or am I missing something? Otherwise, I think I'm going to like Neo a bunch.

    Neo has been shipping for 4.5 months without a User Guide". As a friend of the family, any idea of an availability date?

  • @matrixate
    @matrixate ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow...NEO is actually now worth the money I spent. I'm kind of glad I didn't go through with the refund I applied for a couple months ago. Although this a great feature, it would be nice to get a drop shadow effect..you know, for online profiles.

    @MrX-zz2vk ปีที่แล้ว

    Well it copied & pasted the model from Winter into the new background easily enough, 4:22 but how do you go about matching the color & lighting? Because she still just looks like a cut & paste job. Ditto for the girl from Summer into that 8:43 background. Even after you adjusted the color, she doesn't convincingly fit or blend into the background. She just looks like a very sharp & precisely selected subject pasted into a place she never was.

  • @Belisiario
    @Belisiario ปีที่แล้ว

    For software which is sold as "cutting-edge ai" this process is archaic... Couldn't at least have option to choose and refine background from the cropped image? And how come it's not possible to merge the layers?

    • @jjaylad
      @jjaylad ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed, the clumsy process involved is self-defeating. If one works in Creative Cloud, flipping to Photoshop and doing it there is far easier. Having intermediate saves to files that are outside LR, is a deal breaker.
      I can't seel folks with any skill in LR/PS, adopting such a sluggish workflow.

    If you want to edit both together just save this as a picture and then open it and edit the combined image as one ;)

    Great tutorial Anthony. I watched Jim Nix's tutorial on this and he showed a completely different way to make a composite. I like your way better. 😎

    • @keithlester4419
      @keithlester4419 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I saw the same video and I will say I think Jim's way is faster as he didn't take the extra step of saving the image as png and then opening background image. He just opened whatever he wanted for background and reordered the layers as one would do in Photoshop. Both videos showed workable solutions. I'm certain both guys will have more detailed videos over the next few weeks as these current videos are super basic and leave out a lot of fine tuning. It's good to see Neo gaining features. Be well TCFilms.

    Strange that they would create a Portrait background removal tool, but then use the work Object instead of Subject or Person in the refine tool...?

  • @bnoticedproduction1615
    @bnoticedproduction1615 ปีที่แล้ว

    The problem with Skylum software is the deception. I have bought every form of every Skylum Offering for the last five years and NEO was a fraudulent roll out. The Extensions they now offer where part of the promised advertisement for the software early purchase. AI Background removal is now an extension but was the big hook originally. I use mainly Capture One 23 and will no long support Skylum Products.
